The more pertinent question is - what will happen when it's 2mb fork time?

That's the only reason many of the Chinese miners agreed to run Segwit.

A hard fork is a much, much bigger deal. I dunno how it's going to go down. It's rather irritating that the drama has only been postponed.

As the Bitcoin userbase expands, validating the entire blockchain naturally becomes more expensive.
Of course it does. But then two things can happen if BTC continues to thrive. either BTC solves this scalability problem and its possible for a mass adoption and usage as a real currency for comercial transactions or it doesnt and it come become more of a store of value asset where less transactions will be needed.

That's right, but we still don't know what's gonna happen aftet segwit. We know we have two or three options but this uncertainty creates worries among the investors.

I really expect harsh price fluctuations in the rest of the time until segwit.

What will happen after SEGWIT?
The purpose of the activation segwit is to makes bitcoin's scaling problem to be fixed
and makes bitcoins transaction without fees sending,
but actually there are no guarantee for it, because there are some people who make prediction
that this way will be fail, the impact on bitcoins before segwit be activated now is bitcoin's price is down trend.

What will happen after SEGWIT?
Most of us awaited eagerly for segwit to be activated from long time.I hope that after segwit, due to increase in block size, transaction fee would once again become very low and transactions would be confirmed very quickly. So more people would start using bitcoins and as a result of it,bitcoin price would increase.
With this concept it is very easy to understand that what is going to happen after Segwit.
Many of the users are freaked of the segwit thinking of something bad is gonna happen to the bitcoin. Maybe many of the people don’t understand what the segwit is meant to.

I hope many people will get attracted toward the bitcoin after it and this will strengthen the bitcoin more even.

What will happen after SEGWIT?
No one really knows what will happen. There's a lot of fear, panic and speculation. The safest thing to do is to take your bitcoins offline while awaiting to see what will happen. But does that mean that I should trade in all my alt coins for BTC and withdraw everything to my offline wallet now? I'm not sure to be honest,
Yes no one can predict what will happen after the segwit (august 1). All bitcoin user havr own opinion and moves to secure their bitcoin. They transfer to their offline wallet  to make sure that bitcoin can't get a problem to other currency or in different transactions. Other are selling their bitcoin to make sure also that they have income in their hard working. But when I observe the history of bitcoin there's no reason to fall the bitcoin, this time it slowly become popular and maybe it the reason why bitcoin have a news like this.

I definitely no idea what happen after segwit, but I believe that bitcoin were gonna be strong to hold their position in the market. However I was scared to the fluctuation of this price, but I believe that there's company who accept bitcoin and change segwit position.

I think the recent price dip reflects uncertainty - maybe FUD based, I certainly can't tell who is talking cr*p - about whether we will have an ugly fork or not in the near future.

Personally hoping everything goes smoothly and SEGWIT goes through.

July 21 is the starting date that those miners who agreed on segwit will activate right? If segwit starts then bitcoin will pump and hopefully most altcoins won't get affected much. If segwit fails to activate then split is possible? Just like what happened early this year during the BU crisis altcoins went sky rocketing.

Segwit is positive and NEEDED. So long term no problems only positives. Short term There could be a dump as there is lots of speculation about it and people might go to other assets during the process. If that happens a week hand dump might follow. Lots of "new" money in BTC this year that could panic.

More than 80% is in support of Segwit so I guess the community is behind the decision and it will be successful.

Well, that's not entirely true since you're referring to SegWit2X. That proposal has the support of the major part of the miners, but not so much in terms of the community and services within the Bitcoin eco system. The community and the core developers stand firm behind the original proposal (BIP141), but due to the fact that miners are blocking activation, things need to be done in a different way, which is often referred to as the UASF. Again, this is something miners aren't willing to support, but in this case there is not much that they can do to block it. Grin

One is certain, SegWit won't fail and destroy bitcoin, just take a look at Litecoin example - LTC was practically buried alive and stagnant for long period of time.
SegWit activation raised it from the limbo and from forever stable price of ~$4 Litecoin surged to ~$50 in 2 months.
So know just imagine what SegWit can do for bitcoin, if everything will go according to the plan we should have stable $4000 after the upgrade.

Definitely go down, maybe not right after the segment. Why do I think so? Open the weekly chart and realize that for very large growth we need a very large drop.

There will be definitely a drop but after the Segwit it will get back and shoot to the moon. More than 80% is in support of Segwit so I guess the community is behind the decision and it will be successful. Hopefully, it will solve the problems which we are facing right now and that will bring more people into crypto world.

Segwith activation is good for bitcoin but the panic is creating is too high. August 1st will come and go and the bitcoin markets will remain therefore let reduced this panic by seeing August in the light of positive out come rather than see it as dividing the network. There will be hardfork issues but those issues has been there from the beginning.
Everyone is panicked at the moment. They do not know what will happen later, many speculations are popping up. Segwit will determine how bitcoin will grow in the future. If Segwit's results are satisfactory then bitcoin could be better.  The most desirable is the fast delivery time of bitcoin transactions.

People do panic if we don't know what the future holds specially bitcoin price. Just look at today's price, it is still early but the FUD that spread here creates panic for some making them sold of their bitcoin today. IF Segwit2x implementation will be successful, then definitely the price will grow and we may hit another ATH. So better not believed what you are reading specially the uncertainty and fear and worries of most members here specially newbies. Just hold.
