Maybe Cat in Hat?

Well, I based it to a fairy tale story of "Puss in boots" since your avatar is a cat with a hat? Through that people will determine that you're Jet Cash. I don't have any idea about cool usernames that is based on your activities but this puss' name is very lit.  Wink

source: https://www.bookreports.info/puss-in-boots-summary/

If you have that characteristic then it's good tho.

The new members are the life blood of the forum

Also, the moral story; It's true to trust your own abilities and be the creator of your luck is relate-able to the quoted post of you. Trust yourselves because you are the life blood of the forum.

Many thanks for all the helpful and encouraging replies and comments.

With regard to Theymos and name changes. My understanding is that donators are allowed to do this, and I think he has stated that he may include this as an option for a possible rank above Legendary. At the moment he is reluctant to make any name changes, and has only done this under exceptional circumstances for long standing senior members.

The possibility of my changing the Jet Cash name - I have re-read this thread, and I have come to the conclusion that my obsession with associating a .com domain name with a board identity is unreasonable on the modern internet. Whilst is is an advantage, I do not believe that it is essential. I have been a member of various forums since the last century, and JetAid is the first board identity that doesn't have the .com associated with it. Branding is an important   consideration, and I feel that "Jet Cash" is my brand, together with the black cat avatar ( which I also use with my Kuffy identity). I received a lot of criticism when I changed my avatar, and as a result, I changed it back. I have decided to retain both the sobriquet and the avatar whatever happens.

The use of the "Jet Cash" name associated with a payment service. I registered the name in 2002 to brand a payment service associated with my Baronets domain name business. I have used it as a private facility since that time. When I joined Bitcoin Talk, it seemed the obvious choice for a name, as Bitcoin is a tremendous payment method to associate with virtual assets ( amongst other things). I have considered creating my own coin, but have not taken any steps towards creating this product. I will not use the Jet Cash name for this, so any coin using this name is not associated with me. In fact any payment facility that is not mentioned on The official Jet Cash site is not associated with me, and therefore it should be approached with extreme caution.

The Walmart use of the name - Walmart is a large marketing organisation with a strong capital base, and I believe that any payment service that is wholly owned by the organisation can be used with confidence. Walmart owns the domain name Jet.com, and they use this to provide an online retail store. They have used the phrase "Jet Cash" to facilitate payments, and to provide bonuses for their customers. To be best of my knowledge, this is the only alternative reputable service that uses the "Jet Cash" name.

You can’t change your name on here unless you pay boss man theymos 50 bitcoin’s to become a VIP Member.
VIP allows you to change your own name.
He rarely, if ever has accepted username change requests from none VIP’s.

Vod, Blazed, Anduck...

Yeah he does. He said the forum doesn't need donations any more so he probably would for a legendary, some donation might be expected for the time it takes him to change it but...

Where did theymos say he’d change a Legendary’s name?

If you do change your name i suggest you to change the name to bitcash since we are in the cryptocurrency and every bitcoin you will get is equivalent to cash. I do not know if someone own that name but it is only a suggestion though.

Bitcash BCH? That Roger Ver scam coin?
Your argument is invalid, Jet Cash will be the first cryptocurrency equivalent to cash! Powered by Jet engine, 4th generation blockchain.

Can you check if they (Walmart) have already registered their 'JetCash' system as a trademark? I don't really know what they can do if you own that name for so long, but logically that domain was yours before they have found out that name for their service (or they have just met with your system in the past and they liked it (and after took it...)).
Maybe you can consult with a lawyer specialized in this, but I'm sure you have some experience too in connection with these kind of things if you sell domain names for so long...

Edit:
And don't worry, if people read the forum enough, they get used to the people's writing style, so you'll be recognized after a nick change as well (and I'm sure that Walmart won't use your avatar picture, so you can use it afterwards, that's even more recognizable)...

Everyone searches themselves... if someone says they don't then they're lying.

I thought that everybody searches for others (ex, crush, boy/girl nextdoor and so on).
Anyways my search of my username yielded me some interesting twitter profile "https://twitter.com/r1s2g3"

Till now I used to think I have very unique  name but somebody already have this name in twitter from April 2011 beating me up with margin of 6.5 years.
though does not look like that twitter person linked to crypto (at least on that profile).

I Agree.

Just keep the avatar, You'll still be recognised...

Actually "Jet Cash" probably isn't an original name that they could sue for copyright for, and unless you offter them the domain for £10 000 000 then you don't need to sell up...
Also, you can change your signature to something like { I just changed my username from ____ to _____.you can give reasons too (if you feel like). so your followers will get the message. But no matter what you change your name to, even if it's trump, you will still be recognized.

Your name is also never truly changed. If you send a pm to someone with a name change it might still show up as either being their new name or their old name...

I discovered it because I did a search in Google for "Jet Cash". I forget why I did that in all the excitement. Google gave me a load of Walmart and Bloomberg links, and that's what triggered it.

How will an alternative name affect my activities here?

Given that the forum is anonymous and we don`t know who is who in fact, our pseudonyms are our identification. Thanks to them we become recognizable in this forum. With the help of a pseudonym, we are proving ourselves and try to deserve the respect from other participants. Avatars, signatures and personal texts can be changed, but when I see the certain pseudonym, I immediately have associations with this person. And I have the same association with you, although I`ve never seen you and can`t imagine how do you look. All that I have to create your image is your nickname. It`s around your pseudonym that my idea of you is being built, which is also supported by your posts and activity on the forum. I don`t think you should change your name.

In the anonymous environment of bitcointalk forum, the name is all we have to learn about others and to be recognizable. Of course, the image can be transferred to another alias, but other associations will appear with a different name. I believe that you deserved an excellent reputation on the forum, other participants know you, you are respected and people listen to your advice. And all this you have done under the Jet Cash name. For example, when I go to the Meta branch, I look for your name among the authors of the new discussion, and I always open it, because I know that it can`t be uninteresting or irrelevant. First you worked for a name, and now it works for you (no doubt, you, of course, continue to try and develop, but still). You have an interesting and memorable pseudonym. I would`t want you to change it.

Just wondering did somebody contacted you to buy that domain or you received some inquiry about some merchandise product. I think name and domain name will remain with the user who registered it first. Unless somebody turned unlucky in this case where France just decided to seize the Domain name without any talks or settlement.

Thanks for the comments guys, and there are a few reasons for making this thread.

One is a selfish reason. I want to establish that I have been using the name for payment processing for a number of years, and lateely in association with crypto-currencies.

Another is that I don't want to be associated with any scam coins just because they use the name. The Walmart payment service will not be a scam obviously, but the name does seem to have attracted a few people, and they may not have established reputations.

Bitcoin Talk does take reputations seriously, and when I registered JetAid, I was contacted by a senior member to verify that it was an alt of mine. Quite a lot goes on behind the scenes here, and I support any forum initiative to block fraud, especially if new members or guests may be the victims.

honestly i don't understand the point of opening these "my little diary" threads in here. Roll Eyes
This thread has a very specific purpose and asks a very specific question. I don't understand the post of replying with these "my little diary" posts. The thread is no better off now that you've become a part of it. You have contributed nothing and substantiated nothing.
He has shown how the merit system is in full working order as it has stopped him from being able to rank up and reap the rewards associated with gaining more merit for his rank...
And there are clearly people who don't read the OPs still Sad.

Now, replying to the main question at hand.. I doubt it would change anything around here for you. A lot of people like to think that their namesake carries a reputation with it, but more realistically we would treat anybody that acts the same as you, the same as we treat you. We aren't giving you special treatment due to your name, so even if everyone forgot who you are you would be able to operate similarly to how you do now. I wouldn't be too worried about changing my name due to the circumstances you've outlined, but if you feel the need to then I wouldn't worry too much about that, either.

Maybe he's worried about being affiliated with wallmart if they ever liquidate/go bankrupt (his ticket system might get hit up quite a lot).

i thought was a thread opened by a newbie.

You haven't even been here a year and you want to act superior, that's pretty interesting. Which part of the OP makes you think that the thread was opened by a Newbie?

Probably are. I'm surprised we don't see more of this sort of thing. People using other reputable members names, and knocking out their scam coin. They've tried everything else, and its only a matter of time. I haven't done any research into the matter, but I'm sure some have used theymos' name Cheesy

What would you suggest I do if they announce an ICO in Bitcoin Talk?

Make a coin with the name now. Make it a bitcoin clone and then fork it later into a better coin...
