My hope for monero is that it will not get hijacked by the institutional crowd like bitcoin has been, but will remain a grass roots *currency*, not a Winkelvoss brothers' type of vehicle (I have nothing against those people in itself, but turning grass roots crypto in institutional betting coins kills the idea to me).  Also, there shouldn't be too much hype over monero or TPTB will put their ugly nose in.
So somehow I hope the price will cool down somewhat.  This is too much, too fast.

They must have put a lot of time and research into which coin to choose, and their decision must have been based solely on the technology and capability of the coin. They have too much to lose to do otherwise.
the perfect point.
DNM doesn't have persons who simply decided to open a website... they have big engineers and computer scientists running a BIG market who completely depends on this anonymity. they wouldnt simply add a coin... that's why even with years, bitcoin were almost the only coin accepted there.

The pump was too hard, I till correct for a while I think. After we have a period of stability I might invest again if Bitcoin has still not solved the fungibility problems.

i think the last pump it was just a pump and dump, it will return to a normal level, no way it can stay so high lol, but it has a good future, until zerocash will enter in play and be a good contender
I don't doubt that people will jump onto the Zcash launch, but it has problems, probably chief among which is that it requires a trusted setup. That means you have to trust them, and not just math.

I'd rather not have to trust people, especially people in the banking industry and government (https://z.cash/team.html).

See:

wasn't etheruem and darkcoin, also trust-need not really decentralized? but still they managed to be very big, especially etheruem, i really think whales do not care at all about those things

You're correct - certain whales don't care about those things; some do. I'm posting these things for the sake of the person who truly wants or needs an anonymous coin.

As for Monero, it was just as private and untraceable before the price rise. It's a great example of showing that a price rise (or fall) does not necessarily mean that the coin is good or bad at what it purports to do. The darkmarkets depend on privacy and untraceability far more than the average person does. They must have put a lot of time and research into which coin to choose, and their decision must have been based solely on the technology and capability of the coin. They have too much to lose to do otherwise. Their choosing Monero speaks volumes.

Monero sounds very good crypto - you can make private transactions, web wallet works very good. How do you think - what can be future in next few years for Monero and what is your experience. Monero now is 0.021 BTC - high price - check here https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/monero/  Grin

The devs seem to make the coin go in the right direction, but too slow.
This price jump was too fast. And some will cry at the correction, especially as most don't have neither patience nor trust to hold it.
A lot of anonymous start coming up and claiming a place. The future looks.. intriguing.

I have seen several altcoins that were considered "the future of altcoins" at the time, and we have also watched how they fell. Unfortunately most altcoins have proven to be mere pump and dump schemes to speculate and make quick and easy money, and I think Monero is in the same situation. Next month we will see it in its previous level.

I've said this over and over throughout my years using Bitcoin and I'll say it again: Bitcoin may or may not be the future, but cryptocurrencies definitely are.

As for Monero, it's definitely has the anonymity factor that Bitcoin lacks, and with the AlphaBay Market adapting it, I foresee a significant rise in its price until it begins to stagnate, which could take a couple of years. I see it as the future DarkNet currency, Bitcoin will still remain on the clearnet.

Too much of propaganda machinery for honest anonymous coin for the people. I'm calling deception. Classic one.

brilhant future ahead.
DNM is a big step, there are tons of "anon" coins in the market but until then none was accepted at DNM.

if everything runs smooth at DNM with monero, in one year monero price will be 100$+ easily.

pump or not, Monero has kept its price and volume so high for a long enough time. and i believe that it still has more potential of growing and the price can go much higher than this.

so i would even go as far as expecting a new wave of rises to 0.03BTC this time. and expect it very soon.

Monero is the only currency that is private, untraceable, and fungible. Others, including the dark markets, are realizing this, as are more people.

Think about it. They wouldn't use anything but the best to keep their activity private and untraceable.

As for me (someone who doesn't use dark markets), I like the idea of my money being private. It's nobody else's business. As more people realize they can keep their money private, the demand will continue to grow.

You can see a comparison here: https://moneroforcash.com/monero-vs-dash-vs-zcash-vs-bitcoinmixers.php

Monero seem to hold the current pumped price really nicely for over few days now. And also after it get now accepted by major darknet site, i think future of monero is good and holding monero for long term may become profitable.
