Hello guys from my last post
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.53310640
i want to do a simple startup based on donation !
if your goal is to "earn money" then you can't rely on donations. specially for a new project and not for the first couple of years.

i want to create an open source bitcoin wallet with django framework that doesn't store any private key or phrase seed
you mean a "web wallet"?
i wouldn't call it secure at all, and i would think twice before using it specifically because it is relying on python.
by the way you can NOT claim a web wallet is open source ever. you can share the source code but nobody can verify if the domain they are accessing is actually running the same source code!

i know there is a lot of bitcoin wallet sites and they are popular
is it waste of time ?
yes, in my opinion it is a waste of time, because it is a "web wallet" and they are inherently unsafe so a new unknown one is not going to even get any attention.

I agree. Web wallets are too soft to be called secure, and it is always being targeted by hackers. Also, there is a lot of web wallets nowadays and making one is not just a waste of time but also a waste of effort on trying to make it secure but it will never be secure than hardware wallets.

I really don't know what to expect...

We already have so many secure wallets with so many unique features that is hard to think.
You have to think as being unique, but reusing some of the ideas the community accepts.

Maybe go slowly on your implementation and think from there what you will be capable of doing.

Take ideas from other hardwares as well such as computer hardware security and so on.

I got one question. Why people store their BTC or other cryptos in their wallets either online or offline instead of exchange like Coinbase?
It's always better to be the only person with access to your private keys, where if you for example store your coins on an exchange like Coinbase you technically have given majority ownership of your coins to Coinbase.

Your only right is to request a withdrawal and hope they will send you your coins. In most cases they will do that, but what if they no longer do? People don't think about that but they should. It's a risk impossible to ignore.

I'm sure people don't even read the terms before registering, which means that if there is anything in there stating something that puts you in a disadvantage, you only find out about it when it's too late.

Lot of reasons for that in fact but, IMHO, the main is they have full control on their  crypto while the case when it is stored on exchanges is exact opposite.

but for other abilities what should it have ?

From where I sit... the abilities 1) to run code on air-gapped machine to sign transactions offline and 2) to accept data and return them signed back via QR-code would be appreciated.

the first time we wanted to learn crypto, of course the first thing we wanted was to keep our crypto wallet fully secure, like some wallets that currently have a 2-way security system to accept sending verification codes both on cellphones and with Google's authenticators.
and for now I don't want to try another wallet because I already use a local wallet and I feel very safe with that wallet.

Those beginners are more likely to do that because they are careful about their safety. They think that their account can be hacked by other people. That's not what it is really about, security of wallet helps you prevent loss and other scam to your account.

Not only those beginners are vulnerable, but also those professionals that are confident with their accounts. Being too comfortable, can make you less careful and can lead you to misdirection while not checking yout account.

Nonetheless, poeple wouldn't trust easily to just new wallet not unless it's developed by someone who has a good reputation and credibility. The fact that wallet isn't just a wallet but it is something to use carefully.

Maybe OP should just partnered or be a freelancer to some companies that continuously developing web wallet to gather more experience, in that way he could build credibility, at least.

In this time we have a lot of wallets and methods available for us, mostly of them are free and relatively secure

If you really believe in your project, go ahead, but don't do the same as we have, because the old ones will have advantage and who will trust in a new wallet with others most secure available

Try to find a "completely" secure method to hold our coins and transfer and prove that your method and wallet is the most safe and I'm sure you make a lot of success
