You can compare it to an Initial Public Offering, or IPO, with a company’s stock. This is when investors can first publicly purchase shares of stock. An ICO is similar where it’s the first public offering to purchase coins for their blockchain project. thats the same question that i have since im still a newbie w/ bitcoin. Now i have few ideas on how bounty or ICO works. I still have a lot of question regarding bitcoin and i hope someone can help me or give me some information on how to earn bitcoins 
Bounty is the reward of the sig campaign and ICO (i think) is the token sale.
Think of a bounty as a token of appreciation for your help or service performed, in this case you helping advertise Authorship and your reward will be $10 after ICO ends.

Someone please explain to me what these two are. I joined Authorship token and I am not very sure what it is but its providing 10$ worth ether so i just joined, but i want to know how this bounties work and what an ico is? Sorry if this question is too silly
