I'm glad some good came of the whole Doge business, with the donations made to charities and such. Some people had a lot of fun with what was always supposed to be a coin for fun. Unfortunate to see some people lost their shirt on it, but to bet so heavily on a coin based on a joke is pretty insane.

Ewwww, they take ripple  Roll Eyes

If anyone is interested, I wrote this piece recently and posted it to /r/Dogecoin. Most of the responses were positive, but the amount of responses I got were not that great.

Ouch, yes, that is bad for doge, not just them backing away from doge but their laying out in very stark terms their reasons for backing away.

People getting tired of the joke, and mining less profitable, so network weaker, making doge not interesting. Just the natural things. Things will get worse with time, as far I can see.

We may see the same happening with bitcoin in the following decades, but at least the fact bitcoin wasn't born as a joke give us more chances.

I don't think Doge is going to die as long as the community keeps supporting it.

Its value might keep low unless the community gets larger.

Doge will get 51% soon and die.

51% attacks are overrated; they are not enough to make a coin die.

The only way it could die is if the community abandoned it, which seems unlikely to happen.

51% attack is pretty easy if the hash rate continue to drop.

Solutions:

1) merged mining   - best
or
2) Switch to POS like Blackcoin...
( note that with POS you need big amounts of coins online to keep higher security lvl
from tis point of view best is merged minig and developer of Doge is not POS specialist )

to keep high security Doge Dev need act now not after accident IMO.

How much longer do you think it will be before DOGE is vulnerable?

Doge started as a joke and then benefitted from a massive pump that, as XbladeX's chart shows has finally wound down.

Doge looks like a survivor, but with Too Many Coins and No Limit Ever, it is hard to see the coin ever being worth much in terms of BTC.  In short the Doge has had his day.

but may exchange sites use it as a market for example bitcion market / litecoin market / dogecoin market.

like swisscex dot com:

https://www.swisscex.com/market

so will they take another coin as a market refer?

It's value is still a lot more stable than coins of similar value, so it's unlikely that they will change to another coin for that market.

DOGE is simply approaching the value of its natural function...

Maybe they should make DOGE an umbrella coin and have a whole family of meme coins branched underneath it.  That might help its "value." [Dear God, please don't let this actually happen...]

It might actually happen; Tacocoin is merge-minable with Dogecoin since a few weeks ago Tongue
