A lot of people say that they really liked Cryptsy and the platform was really easy to use, not sure how much the company would have been worth but why would they be so greedy and take everything, they could have sold the company for a good enough profit i would have thought.

How much was lost in total?

It may have been a hack that lead to insolvency, and the easiest thing was to cut and run rather than risk the legal repercussions. That's what many failed businesses in the crypto space seem to do.

Also, their software/UI/matching engine was simply horrible, worthless garbage. And fees could not have compared to total assets; I suppose it could be tempting to exit scam with $5 million - $20 million on the table.

I think something like 16mm-20mm $ but I'm not sure..

I really liked cryptsy in the AUR pump days.. I think it stated going downhill after the XPY pump days..

RIP Cryptsy.  A good exchange while it lasted, but people were calling it a scam for quite a while anyway.  OP, you'll find a lot of the stuff that's gone on in the world of crypto since you've been gone very, very interesting.  A lot of drama, definitely.

It is dead.

It was near dead when it was living so it didn't make any differences. They were slow and buggy as hell and their support was slower than slowpoke. They couldn't take all the curses from their customers so they shutted the place down.

Oh man did you miss a lot.  If you read through the whole thread, everything is there about the debacle.  You probably missed the whole Master-P fiasco as well.  Welcome back.

I miss Cryptsy myself.  They were the first exchange I joined and they served me well up until they went full scam.  I've used Yobit to trade altcoins, and Poloniex.  They're both good if you have bitcoin to start with.  I haven't tried buying anything with USD on either of them.

Ouch, I guess this is a rude awakening for you. It wasn't a hack; the consensus is that the founder/chief executive, Paul Vernon, robbed users and fled to China. I've even seen reports that he opened a new cryptocurrency exchange in China, though I can't seem to locate the link now. Sad.

Its all in the link I posted, 1st reply..

i have always thought that when you learn bitcoin, you will always be going back to this forum from time to time. so where have you been all these years?
crypsy like the rest of the scam exchange since the dawn of time, they have all had gone gox.

you could have withdraw you doge before crypsy completely deface themselves.
