Hello everyone!

I'm fairly new to cryptocurrency but i've invested in bitcoins years ago but never understood it. Pretty much friend told me to buy it so I did lol.
Rule 1: Do your own research. Never buy a coin just because someone said so.. Read all you can about the coin and find good reasons why you should buy or not. No one can accurately predict the crypto market 100&. Most are speculations derived from their own analysis. Look at this way, you brought because your friend said so. What happens when things go south and the market dumps. I imagine it will devastating for you, you will probably Blane your friend for your loss because then you will realize the whole idea wasn't really your decision in the first place. On the brighter side, since you bought years ago you're already in profits and having a swell time

Hello everyone!

I'm fairly new to cryptocurrency but i've invested in bitcoins years ago but never understood it. Pretty much friend told me to buy it so I did lol.

Anyway, I want to learn about cryptocurrency how they work and what its about etc. Would this be a good idea;

Learn blockchain - learn cryptocurrencies one by one like bitcoin - research how to trade using graphs and other info.

I want to make profit and learn this as much as possible.

What would you recommend?

Thank you!  Kiss

Learn about crypto, ICO, BTC...
And you should be up tp date with the daily market. Having knowledge of the market is the basic thing. Dont rely on others do your own research(DYOR).

up to date with daily market is that by reading a certain article or by manually checking the market and looking for new things?

Actually, this is very risky if you invested in crypto-based on only following your friends without learning at first. however, fortunately, you invested in Bitcoin, so it may be a saver. If you are new to crypto, never only follow your friends to buy certain coins, moreover new coins. Additionally, you must be also very careful when going to invest your money into crypto. In this case, nowadays there are many scams that offer very interesting investments with high profits in crypto, and it will never work because it is a scam. Watch out for this.

And about how to learn about cryptocurrency, I personally also felt the same with you when first introduced to cryptocurrency. I was really confused about where I should start. However, at that time, I started in this forum and then learn about the basic thing of crypto, that is about Bitcoin and the differences with the altcoins.
After that, what we are going to learn is better to follow what we are going to do. At that time, I wanted to focus on joining the projects and programs in this forum so I decided to read more posts and threads in this forum, in most sections.
However, if your goal is for trading, I think that besides learning about Bitcoin and altcoins, crowdfunding, and basic things about crypto, you can learn about the type of trading, mechanism, knowing about exchanges, wallets, types of tokens or coins, and much more basic knowledge.

And some sources that are very helpful for me are likely:
- This forum
- Binance Academy

I know that there are so many sites and also YouTube channels that provide completed information about cryptocurrency, but those two are my favorites.

Most people suggested books and written content, so I am going to suggest another approach. If you are just starting out, it might be easier for you to watch YouTube videos to understand the basics, and then move on from there to more complex topics.

Take a look at the content created by these two channels and see if that is something you would be interested in:

If you have invested in bitcoin, as you write closer to the near the end of 2019, you should undoubtedly have made a profit. I will never believe that an investor is not interested in what is happening with his money. What happened to your bitcoins? Have you sold them, lost them, or are you still keeping them?
Based on your first attitude, whether it was victory or defeat, advice can be given. If there is a good amount, then learn how to properly store bitcoin, or maybe you are interested in trading. If there is already nothing, but the desire to achieve results remains, start from scratch, read the forum, books, and do not believe in the quick earnings that are offered here and there today. There is no good profit without good knowledge.

i just kept the bitcoins on binance like a noob haha until few months ago i moved it to ledger wallet.

I guess that by creating this thread after these years, you've probably sold them. Otherwise, you'd have been interested on understanding it earlier.

It depends on what exactly you want to learn. If you're interested in the way the crypto-market works, then you should read books about trading. Many of them are free, but there are also some masterpieces on amazon.

If you want to understand the technical background of bitcoin, then I couldn't suggest you a better website than: Learnmeabitcoin.com. It explains it perfectly, better than any other site. Needless to say that YouTube videos aren't helpful at all.

Your last step about trading is not really related to crypto. You can learn them separately, in fact, most people who trade probably don't understand a thing about the blockchain/coins they're trading with, since profits are what they're looking for. If in the long run you plan on doing some trading and seek profits, maybe you don't really have to learn crypto deeply, just the basic about a wallet, how to send crypto, how to set fees, what is non-custodial/custodial wallet, how to protect your seed/private key, etc.

That being said, mastering trading is a bit tricky and requires a lot of time. In a bull run like this you'll probably end up in profits as long as you hold until the peak, but in the bear market, you'll definitely need to rely on your skills.

I think there are three things to learn crypto

  • Read books
  • Research
  • Application/Experience]
This three things listed by @akirasendo17 is a good one but you also have to know OP the most common scams that is permeating the bitcoin community and how to avoid them, most newbies are the target of this people so it is better if you know something about it to reduce the possible victims of this scams.

Welcome to the club Smiley Step one is probably to try and install Bitcoin core on your PC if you can. It's quite a big download so it might be a hassle but it gets you familiar with how the basic components work. You're right to focus on Bitcoin first because there is lots to learn - start with the best security practices, especially if you will decide to hold funds outside of an exchange. I would say it is ok to get a basic idea of how mining works, but it won't be super critical to most people as it is difficult to do profitably now. One thing you really need to learn is transaction fees and how to pay the lowest amounts - using different wallet types can literally make the difference between spending $50 to move $500, or spending $5 to move the same amount (see: bech32), this can save you a fortune in the long run. Bitcoin forks will make interesting reading as more of a curiosity than anything else. Personally, I'd stay away from trying to make money trading - you can lose a lot to learn nothing, see if you can create any products or services to raise BTC instead.

Well, I would like to recommend that you should watch some tutorials and visit useful sites that teach about cryptocurrency for your own growth. I, myself, am always watching tiktok videos and youtube videos of the long-time traders and they always tell their viewers to do DYOR - Do your own research. Research before taking too much risk. Know the possibility that you may either win or lose in crypto.

There are various ways to learn about cryptocurrency. You can learn too by reading threads in this forum and you can answer some crosswords if you are interested in it or you can read some books too. Once you are learning, you can ask anyone in this forum if you have some issues learning somethung you don't fully understand just like you ask in this thread looking for ways to learn and understand.

If you want to make a profit, my suggestion you need to learn to trade because you will have the opportunity to make a profit as in the crypto market, you will have so many coins that can give you the chance to make money.
But before you can make a profit, you need to spend some time learning many lessons available on the internet, including learning analysis, indicators, and how to determine the time to enter the market.
Trading can be your way to make a profit, but you do not need to follow other people to buy the coin because you need to research yourself.
Besides that, if you can analyze the coin, you can improve your trading skills and select the right coin to make a profit.

You can learn to the cryptocurrency if you tried to motivate yourself first it's hard to deal with a thing that you didn't like or too much curious about that thing by that you can now have an idea where to start with. I think if you are planning with bitcoin why not start what bitcoin is there are websites, articles, books, and much more telling about bitcoin. Also, you can check videos if you are not a fan of reading there are a lot of educational videos about cryptocurrency. Your last option is the experience on your own, learning through readying and watching is not enough the last part is to try it on yourself you cant learn anything just reading unless you experience it.

Learn blockchain - learn cryptocurrencies one by one like bitcoin - research how to trade using graphs and other info.

Blockchain is not a fundamental technology, it's more of a programming pattern derived from Bitcoin.

Learning cryptocurrencies one by one is a horrible waste of time, there's so many of them and 99.9% are garbage. Just learn how Bitcoin works, and then research a bit about alternative network design choices like PoS and masternodes, just to be informed.

Technical analysis is not an objectively the best way to trade, some even say it's akin to pseudoscience. Simply buying and hodling Bitcoin is one of the most effective strategies to make profit.
