I would have expected sport betting sites to be the first ones to open, as its much easier to get it started. Probably due to all the API's coming up late it might have been delayed.
The lottery might still have been there before the gambling sites came up.

When did USA make online gambling illegal?

Probably when BTC first became popular, gambling started to surface. And it hasn't looked back.

I think online gambling was famous much before that .
Probably when pokerstars came out in 2000ish .  However the question with online gambling is the legality part. I don't think it is legal in all states yet.

SwC opened in 2011 while SD opened in 2012, and SwC is still the most popular bitcoin poker site nowadays.

I think you are right, SwC opened in Aug 2011, Anonybet Dec 2011 and SC opened in April 2012.

Satoshidice seems the oldest to me but there might be other sites who were in business earlier than it and got closed.

SwC opened in 2011 while SD opened in 2012, and SwC is still the most popular bitcoin poker site nowadays.

Sounds about right Seals with clubs came first then satoshidice stepped in with it's IPO on mpex before getting sold off at 2013 and becoming less prominent, also introduced the concept of blockchain spam and the trend towards off-chain transactions for gambling sites.

The first ever thread in this gambling section is https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/texas-holdem-and-omahaomaha8-poker-room-nl-limit-potlimit-games-840 created in Aug 2010, which looks to be a poker site.

I believe one of the earliest is moonco.in which was closed after a major hack. Satoshidice is the first and longest onchain dice gambling and primedice was one of the earliest in offchain dice.

I'm sure satoshidice is the first gambling site, they became popular quickly, make total bitcoin transaction in a day increase & help bitcoin price rise up.
But now they lost popularity  Sad

What was the first bitcoin casino and when did it start?
I think sports betting might have been the first thing to start as a a gambling site, as it didn't really need a concept.
It was pretty easy to get that started and running.

I guess it started in the year 2011 or so.

Hmm.. If I'm not wrong, the oldest-standing gamble site is https://www.satoshidice.com/ . Well, I read this on a gamble review thread. Not sure when did it start..

Wow the oldest dice site huh, I just figure it out today.

Maybe bitcoin's gambling site recently follow satoshidice 's step or method...

I also curious about bitcoin gambling site history...

Should be around 2010, after developements in the API happened, and gaming developer thought it was time to make a gambling site out of it.
