I'm not a financial expert, let alone in crypto, but if you want to try to learn and see history through charts, maybe you will see many similarities where the bullish always runs after the bitcoin halving, if I see the current increase is not much different from 2020 - 2021, so you can know when the bitcoin price drops in 2021, that's when it could happen again in 2025, before the middle of the year it's better to take quick profits and then leave, lol  Grin

Unsurprisingly the two posts made in this thread by the OP do not demonstrate any serious intent. What was the purpose of creating this thread if you are going to make two posts on the same day after a 29 month gap then show zero interest? Most people that create threads in order to ask questions would at the very least form part of the conversation.

So with the recent spike in BTC price (and other ALT coins) when is a good time to sell?
Not that shocking anymore on which there are tons of instances which are similar to this on which someone do make out some post and asking the community on a particular topic but ending up on forgetting it to
check and be reading up the community response, maybe they had just completely forgotten that they had made it out or really just that simply having no interest on trying to peek about these responses but instead
they will be making out some new thread asking on the same thing over.

Back to the topic about on when to sell whether Bitcoin or some altcoins or meme coins then it will really be that up to you.  The main target that we do have on investing into crypto is to make profits on which it will really be just that depending whether you would be contented on the current profits that you are making or not. The usual things happen into this one is on the moment that the market made out some correction
then it do really able to affect our overall profitability on which this one resulting into that regret because you hadnt be able to get things out accordingly which this do keeps on repeating over and over again
until you would be able to learn and be wise into your next dealing.

So with the recent spike in BTC price (and other ALT coins) when is a good time to sell?

Im particuarly interested in ALT coins as I would be keen to sell these off and invest in BTC or ETH. The ALT coins I have invested in:

TRX
TRON
AAVE
Cardano
Lumen
File Coin
EOS
Polkadot
you are holding good set of  of altcoins so there is no need to decide either to convert them into bitcoin or not because the rally have started now and seems that bitcoin is almost on its peak so best to focus on your altcoin now and wait for the run so you can sell them while waiting for bitcoin price to drop again.

its always the best idea to sell when the price is high and buy when the price is low, this is the strategy most of us are doing .

Its all valuable feedback. What I am trying to determine now is whether to sell Altcoins to fund more BTC. I think it would be wise to HODL BTC and ETH.

With that being said TRON & XRP have made me the most profit. ADA, AAVE, XLM slightly down. FIL, EOS & DOT have lost lots!

So from what I gather from the feedback is ... Altcoin should have a rise soon (following BTC) and perhaps wait and see how high that goes before selling?

There is no better time than now op, if truly you are hodling BTC or ETH because their price has pump higher in this month of November that made many people to sell off their BTC and altcoins to earn profit which you can also make a good profit from those coins, if you can change your mind to sell. I have sold my BTC before the price hit $90k because I feel it will not going to pump above $85k before it will return back to bear season, but what I saw few days ago in the market make me to agree that BTC and ETH will pump more this year, if the green night continue to shine in the market.
Honestly when it comes to BTC, then there is no altcoin I would defend against it at all. If anyone wants to sell all their altcoins and buy BTC then I would say I support it, to be fair I would also support it if they decide to keep most of them too, depends on the coin or the token of course, like if they decide to keep ETH or BNB or SOL or LTC, all of those are fine to me and I would respect that decision, but if they want to sell those and get bitcoin then I would respect that too, either case seems like a good one.

The only way I would ever get involved would be if they have some shitcoin, and I feel like File Coin could be one, rest seem like they are just ordinary coins that we have all heard of and nothing bad, they are all decent enough and feels like they should be considered as good and decent. So whatever OP decides to do, I am here to support it, aside from just one coin, the decision to either keep them, or sell them for btc, both seems like good ideas.

Do you think selling all your altcoins to buy BTC is a good choice? You can sell other altcoins but don't sell ETH because it will going to break out to another level when the price of BTC hit $100k soon, because the price has pump to $3k to push many hodlers to show interest on ETH investment. Well, you can sell other altcoins you mentioned here but make sure you hodl ETH and BTC for a long years because they are still going to hit higher and higher in the future and you will not regret of hodling them in your wallet.

It's very simple, you can sell when you think you are on profits enough or when you feels you don't have anything to lose from the market, otherwise I wouldn't encourage you to hold altcoin for long time than short time and, altcoin is always good when you see profit and you take it quickly without having to wait for it to double extremely. When you hold altcoin for long the chances of you losing your investment is very high because whatever that happens to Bitcoin automatically it gives weakness to the market causing serious panicking among traders to dump the coins without any noticed.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I guess I could rephrase some of this ...

Are any of these worth HODLing:

TRX
TRON
AAVE
Cardano
Lumen
File Coin
EOS
Polkadot
I think that they're all fine if that's already in your hand. But what I can advise you is to sell and liquidate some of it and downsize your holdings from there. Again, this is just a suggestion and my opinion and you should be holding some BTC. Because with all of these alts, your majority holding percentage is lessened based on how much your total value with the holdings that you have right now. So, don't you doubt holding Bitcoin because that's going to be a major upscale to your portfolio if you haven't got it yet and that's why it's 100% worth it to have it whenever it dips or not so accumulate and DCA it.

Trying to outsmart the market is often a losing move, besides it seems to be too soon to move away from altcoins, historically bitcoin is the one that moves first, with altcoins moving up slowly, and it is not until we reach the end of the bull run when the price of altcoins really begin to go up at a very fast rate, and since we have not reached that moment, then it seems like it is not really the best time to sell, but if you really need to or want to, no one can stop you.

it's a different crypto mate , so i think better to analyze each one of it very carefully especially the graph structure and be updated on news as well so that you will have an idea when or where to sell. And if i were you if you have alts better to convert it on bitcoin coz it's not so volatile like those you've mentioned above and for sure on Bitcoin you will be safe and profitable afterwards, unlike alts that while Bitcoin gradually making ATH alts and eth is falling.

When you are already happy on the profit. There’s no specific time on the perfect selling date since price behaves randomly. You can use Fibonacci level to determine the ideal price growth for the current trend if you want something as guide.

Of course since you will hold more Bitcoin. But the problem on this method whether Bitcoin will still dip below your selling price. You might feel FOMO in the process and commit mistakes that cause loss. So better hold.

Wow...  Thinking about selling?  Already?  If a lot of other guys are thinking the same thing then that could be a good sign that this bull market is still early.

Now I'm not gonna tell anybody itt what to buy as this isn't my thread.  If you wanna know what I think could be good to buy, just check my posts.  But some of those alts in your bag might not move as much as the rest of the market.  Just rotate those ones to the ones that do move better.

Sell when you have gotten your target profit.   Before you buy a coin or token at a lower price, you already speculate on the price movement and how you will sell off if the price hit a certain limit. So, what am saying is that you should sell when your set limit is reached. If you have doubt that the market will still keep moving after you have sold off, then sell on bits.

probably AAVE but then again, watch out for the TOTAL3 chart, you might see some few dump in the upcoming future, BTC is too strong right now and it's dominating big time. but current TOTAL3 is still unclear but there's always possibility that there will be reversal on BTC.D chart that allows total3 chart to go up.

though if you didn't trade future you might be fine just do DCA on the occasional dips, but the problem is, the future alt rally, might leave some alt behind, i'd speculate it's the old low performing alts with low volume that's not gonna have any meaningful rally.

so be sure to abandon low performing alts with low trading volume.

When to sell? Look at your portfolio and see if it's profitable at what %? We don't know your target so it's up to you.

Selling BTC that is high - and has the potential to go up again and because selling only wants to buy altcoins? I think for me it's a little silly, so I will keep BTC instead of buying altcoins again.

Maybe we have different views on altcoins, but for me with HODL BTC is much better than altcoins.

Referring to the current conditions, it is not good to sell and then buy Bitcoin. If you already have it and want to sell it, it is better to hold on a little longer until the market conditions look more normal. I mean, don't experiment amidst the current high fluctuations.

Only you can say, mate. Some do not want to sell at all. Rain or shine, they keep holding. It’s fine. But if you want to sell, you need to consider the price you bought it and the possible price you can sell it. If you like the results then okay go ahead. If you see a price high enough that is satisfying enough then that’s the time to sell.

Like I said, it all depends on how much you bought it for and whether you can see significant returns if you sell now. But to me, yes, this can be a very good method. Selling when high and buying when it’s low again.

Currently i wouldn't encourage you to sell of your bitcoin portion to buy any altcoin or even sell your bitcoin for immediate profits, for now the market is surging heavily so you should hold tight maybe after next year bull run, you can sell off. It's always advisable to sell off altcoin you think that are not yielding the needful profits you think then you can sell to buy more reliable asset like bitcoin or Ethereum as you have mentioned above.
