Well if ETC does the dag cut in 1/2 then it may well get a new lease on life mining ETC.  This is still up in the air i believe at this time.

There are also a few other coins with ethash that have smaller DAGs...they are probably not profitable to mine after power costs but there are a couple.  Realize when the 4gb limit is hit...going to be a lot of hash looking at very few coins to mine.  Unless ETC does its 1/2 DAG then i think hash on ETC will grow....but who knows.

Yes the hashrate will grow on ETC and possibly prevent these 51% attacks. This is actually what the devs are hoping for. There are tons of old 3-4GB GPUs out there along with this ASICs that can protect the ETC network as long as its decently profitable.

Issue is that obviously the difficulty will go up exponentially and might not be worth mining for many. If the hashrate increases then the deposits and withdraws will be enabled on most exchanges and should help and lift the price. Usually when ETH pumps so does ETC so the future holds well for this coin. Should be an interesting time see it switch back to the older DAG.

I am overclocking Antminer E3 but the Harshrate doesn't change. Running 5.4.0. Any help, suggestions, or links, are appreciated. Thank you!

Does that mean that you have the immortal update? Where can I get that?

If you want a concrete answer when it will stop mining exactly then just try mining ETC instead which is about 11 DAG Epoch ahead of ETH. Every DAG is about 5 days so its 55 days ahead of ETC. So switch pools temporarily and see if it works...

If it works then you have until at least middle of November to mine ETH. If it doesn't then you obviously only got a month left or so.

I know a few people who scored a good deal on these E3's when everyone panic sold them back in April... only for bitmain to release an update a few weeks later. Either way it will most likely be a brick in a month or 2 since there really isn't anything else to mine with Daggerhashimoto.

I guess the bold part is the key, is it possible to know if this period will extend?

"Yu confirmed that Antminer E3 will stop mining Ethereum around October 2020, adding that Bitmain doesn’t plan to extend the device’s lifespan anymore"
Thanks that`s the answer to my question

Hello ,
Thanks for your answer

Bitmain’s Antminer E3, an ASIC miner that should have allegedly become obsolete by April 2020, will continue mining Ether at least till October 2020.

I guess the bold part is the key, is it possible to know if this period will extend?

Hello,

I am trying to find out this question but i can´t seem to find a date.

When DAG size is over 4GB (antminer E3 RAM) then it will be over and this machine will have no way to mine ethereum?

I've read in some articles that Bitmain released a software which extended life expectancy of these miners by several months... Can this be done again?

I guess this is a common question about ETH mining, but i can`t find it out for this miner.

Thank you all
miguelik

EDIT: I have read this miners will stop mining around OCT 2020... Is this definitive?
