regardless of how "advanced" bitcoin will get, bitcoin is basically already being used in nearly every country. so does that not make bitcoin an international currency already? Wink

Many people in Latam countries bought BTC to save their money as the official currency was being destroyed by the government. I knew a guy few months ago in NY who believed in BTC and bought 500BTC in 2011 when it was very cheap... The guy lives very well in US now and he's investing and get high ROI. He's supporting people from Venezuela and hiring these persons in NY to do many unimaginable jobs... Everything linked with BTC.

Maybe around 2020. We have seen many bitcoin bubbles and there will more have to come but we need to stick with bitcoin and we have to develop it more and more

I heard this and seen this on headlines and part of me feels like its just fear propaganda. But none the less having gold and bitcoin is not a bad idea, whether this is true or not. There is definitely the potential (and the increasingly dangerous potential) of there being another economic collapse similar to 2008 simply because we didn't fix it the first time around. Then there are student debts, something that makes up I believe it is 40% of the government's assets, which are becoming increasingly more of a sketchy asset for the government to hold, and in the event people start defaulting or not paying the debts, we can see another 2008, however the government will suddenly lose 40% of it's assets and we'd be seeing massive hyperinflation are the government tries to find ways to recoup their losses. It will be an absolutely abysmal crisis, and the losses that will be experienced are getting worse and worse by the day.

i hope they are right, the price of the bitcoins would be growing really fast in the future if there is going to be a big crash in the economy

It is already an international currency because it is used worldwide by different people in different countries which makes it international, at least I understand so, international is sending money from a country to another one and the fee is exactly the same as sending bitcoin within a country.

If the global economy collapses even if you have lots of Bitcoins you will not be safe, so I wouldn't count on any treasure, and Bitcoin is a treasure, in case of a global crisis. So I'd prefer the future without big global crisises and in that future Bitcoin have all the chances to become an international currency (which it is in a way already).

I don't think that Bitcoin will ever become a national currency, much less an international one. Unless someone establish a libertarian nation which is recognized by a majority of the UN member nations, Bitcoin may never become a national currency. And it is almost impossible to become an international currency, like the USD or the EUR, as only the libertarian-leaning public are favorable to the usage of Bitcoin.

Since day 1, Bitcoin has been an international currency. You can use Bitcoin whenever and wherever you want, you just need to have an Internet connection and a Bitcoin wallet. The only problem as of today is that you can't actually use Bitcoin as a substitute for fiat when having a transaction in basic stuffs like buying a banana, or anything basic in the market. You would have to convert your Bitcoin into fiat first in order to have an offline transaction like that.

AFAIK user of bitcoin is already worldwide and it is can be considered as international currency because many county already accepting btc. Based on the list of country in the local thread of the forum, there are asian,european and american already use so that means the transaction of bitcoin is already big now.
