i also think that in the middle of next year because of the halving the price is going to rise again, something like what happened to litecoin prior to its halving is possible to happen here too.
we all waiting what happened after halving price rise or still stable like now, not sure halving will give big effect to bitcoin price

I don't really expect it to occur for another couple years

Even with the halving...

Hopefully something around middle of next year close to the halving event. I doubt we will see similiar prices before that.

i don't think we can see any major rise in price this year (but anything is possible with this volatile market!)

i predict next year is going to be a lot more exciting for the price and it is going to go past $500. but the growth is going to begin as soon as a consensus is reached on block size and next year as we get close to block halving price will start to show big movements.

Bitcoin's price has raised a bit in past few days, It was $220+ since last week and now it is close to ~250$ per piece. More than half of 2015 has passed and I barely think that price will touch 300$ by the end of December. As per my estimations, Price won't touch $500 till then end of 2016 when next halvening happens.

Never ever happen again!

i know the current price levels aren't exactly what people were hoping for, but i firmly believe in bitcoin's future. i think at some point within or around 2020 we'll see bitcoin reach $1000.

We'll reach $1000 again well before 2020. 2017 at the latest.

wait for us marshals auction to finally finish and also maybe the btc reward halving. Supply will start to dry up.

So far there hasnt been enough recent buying to maintain price rises, but soon there wont be enough supply to keep up with demand.

The reversal is coming...

the only thing i think will affect the price is the block halving in 2016. not sure about the auctions, i thought all coins were auctioned already? if not, how many coins are left to get auctioned?

There's a final batch of ~44,000 BTC which the US Marshalls are planning to auction later this month.

Not anytime soon, but I'd guess late next year (2016)  Smiley

You never know.

Maybe when the gemini exchange that launches 2016 we can see new whales possibly? or solid price points if they are becoming the lead exchange.

I see more of the 400 reach then the 500.

Not too optimistic on price ranges, since they can go up and then down so quickly. But, more 400 price i think would the the solid area, like mid 400ish.

I voted never simply because of the 1 MB blocksize limit. This currently prevents any growth.

Because scalability will never be resolved, right?  Roll Eyes

Well it has not been resolved since this issue was first raised in 2010. Furthermore the current climate in the community is way less conducive to a resolution that it was before. I have been following this issue for well over three years.

If Satoshi paid attention to this comment, then we would not have to see this controversy today...

Only recently I learned about this block size limit.

I understand not putting any limit might allow flooding. On the other hand, the smaller your block, the faster it will propagate to network (I suppose.. or is there "I've got a block!" sort of message sent before the entire content of the block?), so miners do have an interest on not producing large blocks.

I'm very uncomfortable with this block size limit rule. This is a "protocol-rule" (not a "client-rule"), what makes it almost impossible to change once you have enough different softwares running the protocol. Take SMTP as an example... it's unchangeable.

I think we should schedule a large increase in the block size limit right now while the protocol rules are easier to change. Maybe even schedule an infinite series of increases, as we can't really predict how many transactions there will be 50 years from now.

Honestly, I'd like to get rid of such rule. I find it dangerous. But I can't think of an easy way to stop flooding without it, though.

There is probably not going to be a price increase to $500 per bitcoin this year. There is too much blocksize debate going on so really we are not seeing a big increase until 2016. It is best to HODL your coins, selling them when necessary  when the price goes up, to earn back your money.
