https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amir_Taaki

- Developer of DarkMarket/OpenBazaar, libbitcoin and Darkwallet.
- Promotes Bitcoin with interviews in big media sites
- Posted strange young age stuff here on Bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/?topic=3066.0
- BBC published an article in Sept. 2014, where they made him look almost like a terrorist: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-29283124
- Disappeared from the internet in February this year and is now more than 4 month absent from public.

I was wondering, if there was more behind his disappearance, than just a little offtime.

Has anyone had any verified contact with Amir after Feb 8 this year?

I am not sure if it was true but I read an article on this forum that the developer of DarkMarket and Darkwallet has gone to Syria to fight the ISIS. It seems funny but somehow as I go through the lines I started thinking that there was a possibility that it could be true. We just all hope that he will return safely and continue to run his site.

From the Wired story
Quote
“Is Amir Taaki still alive?” asked a thread on Reddit’s bitcoin forum a year ago.

My OP was posted June 16th 2015. That's why this Bitcoinforum is way better than Reddit. We are always ahead...

Damn, you may like Amir or not, but the sonofabitch sure ain't your average 'starbucks anarchist' and puts his actions where his mouth is. His political views are teenage-tier imo, but I admire his consistency.

"teenage-tier" is the world changing tier

Seems unlikely. Complete ideological conflict. That text doesn't say ISIS should be supported, it says ISIS is a cancer that isn't going away. ("We are now living with cancer. Time to accept it.")

What I'm taking away from that is that Taaki sees ISIS as proof the western powers can't deal with that type of non-state threat. I'm not sure whether he sees that as encouraging from an anarchist's point of view or whether he's saying it's on the public to renew Western civilization so it can survive.

What I'm definitely not seeing is a call to arms for ISIS.

I remember this guy, he was one of the first Bitcoin supporters to get on network TV channels like Bloomberg.
I really liked this guy, he always had such strong enthusiastic determination when talking about Bitcoin. I hope he is well.

I was following the developments of Dark Wallet since the early days, at the beginning they were really active but it seems something went wrong in the team. If they aren't doing any progress I would like that they join team Samurai Wallet and work from there, as far as I know its a similar goal.

It says it was published at published on 2015-11-21
Well, it seems he's ok then, glad to see he is still fine. I hope they are still working in Darkwallet. I think I heard Cody Wilson talking about him in other podcast the other day saying he was ok, but there was another guy that disappeared for sure, I don't remember the name. Let's just hope all those cool anonymous wallets continue being developed without people randomly disappearing in the process.

That soundcloud is not recent.. it was published recently yes, but it was recorded a year ago, notice the tag "classic". Also when you start listening to it the host says that it was recorded in 2014. Therefore, the guy is still missing as far as I know. The last stuff I have seen were it was confirmed to be him talking are all from a year ago at least.
