You can buy BTC in Coincheck which allows you to deposit JPY to buy BTC and some altcoins. It has mobile apps as well. Verification is needed if you don’t mind.

Localbitcoin is the best place to buy Bitcoin

Be careful, it depends on who you're engaging in the deal with. But this does give you the most control to negotiate and accept the offer that you believe is best.

I've had good experience with Coinbase.

If you have the money then go to localbitcoin and get it .

I'm curious why you say this? Are you assuming that denominations available vial localbitcoin.com is whole Bitcoins only?

The best time to buy bitcoin was in 2013 when it was worth few cents. Probably you missed it. If you are looking for a long term hold, then there is no good time, buy it now itself and profit is guaranteed. If you are looking fshort term profits then wait for small dips, not sure whether it would happen or not as BTC gained stability now. My personal opinion is to buy it soon after October 15th, a small dip may happen then, not sure though.
What is on October 15?

If you want to use a BTC-ATM you can check it here:
Tokyo: https://coinatmradar.com/city/164/bitcoin-atm-tokyo/
Japan: https://coinatmradar.com/country/107/bitcoin-atm-japan/

Only a few at the moment, but maybe they will increase within the next years.

The best price is, when it goes down a little, but there is no real best price.
I buyed a "Bitcoinbon", which is oly available in austria at the moment and look at their homepage for the actual price.
If the price goes down again, I will change the bon to BTC.

Actually it goes up again. The deep price few days ago and I think it will be going up only in the next days weeks.
Maybe at the monthend, when chinese Exchanges closing or some other negative finance article comes up it will come a cheaper price.

My last visit in Tokyo was month ago. But I think they have some exchange stations there.
I would recommend buying a Bon like from Bitcoinbon and then change, if you see a price which is ok for you.
At Bitcoinbon you have a value bon in EUR and see the exchange price which will be used when changing.
Means no risk for fluctuations of price.

you can buy on these forums there are many sellers for you you can pay for them via master cart or btc-e this trading platform has just reopened. If coinbase support Japan is too easy but it does not support most Asian countries so you have to risk to buy the sellers on the forum good luck.  Grin

I once saw then the price is down and become $3000. But that is only one time.
The best price to buy bitcoin is as low as possible. But it's hard to determine.
You can only buy when the price is down. Because right now the price is going up and down.
When the price is down, you buy it quickly so you can sell it when the price is up.

In addition I can advice you to check coinbase and cex.
But everything depends on your funds, just look through all variants and choose the most comfortable for you.

Good luck Wink

OP stated that he/she is from Japan. Coinbase currently doesn't buy and sell to Japan.

To OP, try out bitflyer. I've been reading alot of good things about that site on Reddit in the past. Also, that site currently has the highest bitcoin trading volume(3.44%) in japan.

There are plenty of different exchanges where you can buy bitcoin. Kraken, Bitfinex, Gdax, Bitstamp and more
Just check current price there and buy what you like the most. Also you can use localbitcoins service, check there your local prices from people around you. Good luck
