The lesson here: Everyone opens up their mouths too quickly.

I called Pirate out because HE FUCKED ME OVER. You called Matthew out because YOU SUSPECTED THAT THERE WOULD BE PROBLEMS.

There's a big difference.

I don't regret anything that I said to Trendon, as it was all true. Everyone here jumped on the 'smear Matthew' bandwagon on day 1 of teh bet and rode the shit out of it, right to the bitter end. So, with his so-called 'forum reputation' and Bitcoin reputation in general already damaged by the retards here, what incentive did he have to pay anyone anything ? Were you all going to say SORRY and delete all of your trolling posts and tell everyone else that you were joking ?
You all did the damage before the 'bet' even ended.
There's your lesson.

You guys all pegged Matthew as a SCAMMER and shit all over him weeks before the bet even ended.....so when he gives you all what you want and prove you all right, you are surprised ?

What incentive did he have to do anything after the kangaroo court spent over 2 weeks dragging his name and reputation through the mud ?

THINK ABOUT IT.

What incentive? Uhm, how about proving the kangaroo court wrong?

6: If you've got some brilliant idea that no-one else around you seems to be smart enough to grasp despite ample opportunities, such as trying to weasel out of a bet with some clever wording, there's a good chance the reason no-one else has done it is because it's a fucking stupid idea for reasons you're too dim to realise.

Maybe vindication, if he wasn't such a lying scumbag.

HE MADE THE BET. NO ONE FORCED HIM TO MAKE SUCH A STUPID BET. THAT IS ENOUGH FOR HIM TO HAVE HIS REPUTATION TARNISHED. SEE I CAN USE LARGE TEXT TOO. Kiss Kiss Kiss

5. He got his own saying wrong. It should read "Remember, Remember, the 10th of September"

I'm seriously thinking he trips over his own shoe laces with the amount of mistakes he has made on his "bet".

HOW MUCH DID YOU BET ?

blah blah blah.

Is the failure MNWs?

Everyone here is so quick jump on a "sure thing" and then cry foul when it didn't satisfy your hip pocket properly.

The lesson learned is.. you are collectively a greedy bunch.
* FLHippy is slightly less greedy but only slightly.

If this situation were to be left unchecked, it sets a precedent that you can back out of any bet on a grammatical technicality. Taking actual coins or not paying promised coins is the EXACT SAME THING.

It falls closer to a service rendered, In this case the fulfillment of the agreement was entering the betting information in the forum and having the bet accepted. This is no different than doing a logo design and then not getting paid for your end of the agreement because "you design my logo and I'll send 20BTC to that address".

As I said in another thread....

You guys are taking this way too far.

Matthew welched on a silly bet, to try and prove a point. You guys are treating him as if he TOOK MONEY OUT OF YOUR POCKETS.

Considering how relaxed most people have been, in regards to Trendon Shavers aka Pirateat40 (causing most of my frustration) I find Matthew's situation to be a bit 'scape-goatish' under the circumstances.

Does Matthew really deserve to be punished to the extent he currently is being punished ?

There are far more people on this forum that have done far worse and still don't seem to have a scammer tag or their names dragged through the mud and THEY ACTUALLY LOST PEOPLE'S MONEY. Nothing was lost in the 'Matthew' situation, right ?

Shall we make our way to the Lending and Securities Forums and start getting those scammer tags applied to the people that actually TOOK REAL MONEY from people and not simply made a bet where NO MONEY CHANGED HANDS and cost the participants exactly ZERO... ?

No, that is not correct. Many people used Matthew to hedge against Pirate in lieu of other methods. They will lose money. This scam, although Matthew did not directly profit, certainly caused losses.

1. He put 200% in the original title and not 100%
2. He couldn't get the deadline to the bet correct and backpedaled that it was corrected on IRC.
3. He did a live interview with micon where he says the most stupid things now that contradict his actions and words:
http://www.donkdown.com/media/DDRadio-2012_08_22_19_00_07.mp3
4. He did not teach anyone anything that he said he wanted to be taught. All it was was a big troll because he needed attention given Pirateat40 was getting all the attention.
5....Huh?
