Localbitcoins  , with an established trader.
Coinbase seems like another good option too.

Good to know you had success with Bitstamp.  It is always nice to have options when trying to acquire different amounts of Bitcion.

Where can I buy BTC  in the US safely?

I only ever see negative reviews, Im just looking for something I can use paypal to buy BTC with hopefully low fees.

PayPal is not good payment method to buy Bitcoins. A lot of risk for seller you make chargeback. Expect high fees if you find fool someone accepting PayPal

Localbitcoins works mostly for smaller amounts and can be a hazzle. Exchange wise, I found bitstamp to be quite reliable.

is it safe to meet up? i heard some people being robbed.I', gonna try using money pack to get some BTC

If you meet up with someone to buy them, just make sure it's in a crowded area (like a bar or something).

I also second coinbase.com

If you want to trade the coins buy them on coinbase, send them to btce, acquire more coins, etc. Remember, your goal it to acquire more coins, don't think only in terms of usd

I bought my first BTC through coinbase.  It was pretty simple and the rate was reasonable.

The verification period is a bit annoying in the beginning, but the low limits also helped keep me out of trouble Wink  (Volatility)

If you want to use Credit Card / Paypal to buy Bitcoins, then the only site in which you'll be able to do so is VirWox.

Search for bitcoins locally, a local meetup is a great place to get started, I found sellers in my local classified ads.

Hi SniperDude,
you are able to link a bank acct to Coinbase. I segregated some money into one account for Coinbase to send a couple of microtransactions to verify the account. They are able to offer a price similar to Bitstamp if you are watching the trading exchanges. They technically dont trade, just buy and sell for you, basically on Bitstamp. Settlement takes a few days but is less than a week. They dont ask your SS number to verify for an Instant account, but are able to KYC (know your customer) in this case, their customer, by using a service called IDentify. They use the last 4 digits of your social and your address and work backwards asking you 4 questions based what they know from that input. The system may be slow for a trader at first but in works for me because I want to hang on. Hope that helps, Steel

Do not trade with him.

He is obviously a scam.

I think the safest way to buy BTC will be on coinbase.com

I use it as my wallet and my exchange.

However, until you are verified, it might take a while for you to exchange on the website.
