As for me, I keep my coins in exchange sites and other online wallets. By this means, I can still received equal amount of coins during fork or coin swap. With regards to security issues, I have no problem with it since I am very careful with my private key and I also activated 2FA authentication which increase the security of the my accounts. Plus, no matter how safe your coin may be  in whatever kind of wallet, always remember that there's a risk. Smiley

The best way in storing your bitcoins is a wallet that have 2fa protection and a private key also. Those were the line of defense I am looking for in storing my bitcoins. Try bittrex, you can store it there.

They say that Cold Storage is the best place for our bitcoin when hard fork, but I really don't know what is the cold storage and how to use it but I want to know how it works so I can also store my bitcoin in a safe place. For the mean time, I just simply encash it and if the price fall down. I will buy again some bitcoin and wait for the price to rise again.
I can help you to understand the cold storage of your cryptocurrency. There are many possible methods to do it and obviously favored by the users due to high level of security provided .Best  among all possible ways is to save your Bitcoins in the form of information in USB drive or making the use of paper wallet as well as offline hardware wallets for  saving your coins.

Your wallet must be very secure so you can trust it all by itself. Keeping it in you bitcoin wallet is one secure way of keeping your bitcoin. There are many options of our bitcoin wallet in our country that lets us keep our money. We can cash out the bitcoin if we want and keep it in our bank and it depends on us if we want to take it or use it for our personal use. Bitcoin has still no reports of being hacked and only carelessness is what causes other bitcoin users to lose their bitcoin.

If you are really into the security of the bitcoin then i will suggest to you to buy a hardware wallet. That is the safest place that i know where you can put a lot of bitcoins and also other coins and keep it for long term. That is the best wallet as of now and most of the people who got a big amount of bitcoins and other cryptocurrency are now using hardware wallet because of its security.

A cheaper option is to encrypt a USB drive and then use bitaddress.org to generate a wallet. You can use bitaddress.org on the fly on their website but if you are very paranoid then download the wallet generator from their Github and create your wallets in an offline computer. Then cut, not copy, your public address and private key in your encrypted USB drive.

I Agree! bitaddress is the safest platform to keep the Bitcoin at the Safe place.

I know you're here to add posts and activity to your account but I want to emphasize, for the real newbs out there, that bitaddress.org is not a holy grail for securing your BTC. It all depends on the user.

There are wallet security guides available online, just google them.

Just store your btc in your desktop wallet that you can control your private keys and if you want to aquire some Sigwit2x coins ratio 1:1  automatically just send your bitcoin on exchanges that support segwit2x like bittrex and coinbase or hitbtc they will credit you this coins after the fork.

Hi bro and sis
Where to keep the Bitcoin at the safe place?
Or just keep at exchange before fork ?
Any idea ?
Thanks
Any web wallet that accepts bitcoin to store it is safe. You can use the web exchange as a wallet if you want.

Sorry.. but this the worst advise ever...never leave important amount of BTC or any valuable Altcoins in the exchange wallet..they control the priv. keys not you...if you not convince check what happen with MtGox, cryptsy, bitfinex and btce recently...

I believe bitcoin wallets are designed to be safe enough, and I think regardless of wallet you can be hack if you are not careful with phishing sites and scammers.

I can recommend you hardware wallet if don't mind spent money for hardware wallet. Two most popular on the market are Trezor and Ledger Nano S. Both have small display that is an extra layer of security when you send bitcoins (creating transaction) There is malware designed to swap your destination wallet address from clipboard memory with another address so if you do not pay attention you will send your bitcoins to different address and lose your money. Have a look on youtube there are some reviews both for Trezon and Nano S wallets.

if you want to get free new bitcoin when the fork is coming then you can save your bitcoin at the exchanges that will supporting the new bitcoin fork. but if you don't want free coins, then you can save too another wallet like bitcoin core, mycellium, jaxx and other wallet and its better if you do in offline wallet or hardware wallet like trezor. but i think you can keep your bitcoin at the exchanges because you can have free coins and you can sell it to make free money.

I recommend you to use hardware wallet for more secure,  but if you havent hardware wallet yet,  you can use offline wallet like electrum because electrum wallet has a cold storage that can use for more secure during the fork,  i have an experienced about using this electrum wallet before on that recent fork (bch)  and all my bitcoin are fine on that wallet.

I use online wallet and keep my bitcoin this wallet. other I keep my btc in exchanger cause when I see alt coin give me profit. I buy it and sell for satoshi growth. so I keep my btc in exchanger. if you hold btc for long time you can use off line wallet.

I do the same i keep most of my coins in my wallet. I store them at blockchain where i trust this site with my heart. I have reconsidered to do it in a offline wallet but i didn't trust it.

I will now keep my coins online at blockchain i hope that i will not be hacked lol.

Just keep your bitcoin in those exchange sites that decided to support the b2x. You can take the more advantage by trade your free coin in there. The other people that will have received their fork in the wallet or something else will not able to send their bitsegwit2x after the fork due to the network still not alive. If you are wanna taking the more advantage and you can try to follow me step. I keep my bitcoin on binance.
Some people will say that will a bit risky, but i just want to dump my bitsegwit2x
As you can see, Bitcoin Gold is a fail hard fork. Therefore, investors' view about Bitcoin Silver is not good. They are not interested in this fork. I think they will store their Bitcoin in an offline wallet.
To keep your bitcoin in safe place use wallet that store your coin for not losing you collected bitcoin. Also ask your if what is there using wallet to secure their bitcoin, so that you have idea if what is your gonna use.
