I think it's EOS. EOS is a technology platform for building distributed applications. The same is a platform that runs distributed applications but EOS has the advantage of better replication than Ethereum. So can EOS surpass its rivals?
not as easy as that would be number 1. I still believe in ETH and I'm sure many people have known the advantages of ETH coin. actually the decline in ETH value provides an opportunity for us to buy ETH.

I think in the near future no one can compete with ETH.
but if the ETH is still like this and there is no progress that is really good, I think there will be an altcoin that can replace it.
because what I know is that every altcoin there is a time.

For the price maybe there are a lot of coins ready to replace eth, but eth is very famous for its smart contract that being used for ICO, and there are still no alt coin popular enough to replace eth, xrp ever replaced eth for a while bit in the end the eth got back again, from the fame, transaction volume and usage, there is no strong coin yet that able to replace eth for now

lol this is a joke ethereum still didn't implement the update. EOS has a horrible governance. So many copycats of ethereum incldued EOS and all of them have nothing to be used even their blockchain lack of demand.
It can't consider a lot of icos are still using ethereum rather than move to the EOS to raise the funds from the investors.

The project is still young. EOS has chances to become a worthy competitor, but much remains to be done for this. And let's look at this differently - any competition is a big plus for both sides.
developing capabilities owned EOS will be quite capable to transform into its development and improve the Ethereum coins that were able to continue to increase and worthwhile. In addition to the State of the Ethereum will be influenced.

For now it seems like it's still difficult to change the position of Ethereum. Some other altcoins are still not maximal to change the real situation, Ethereum is still very tough. Even if there is the greatest possibility that its competitors are TRON and NEO, it must also go through a long process. The most important thing is how the current market situation will soon improve and recover.  Huh

I don't see any projects that will challenge ether for quite some time.

The network effect is pretty strong for them.

I don't expect ether to challenge btc in real terms either for the 1 spot.

Of course if you are just talking coinmarketcap.com then anyone can do anything at anytime .

EOS (EOS coin) is the codified currency, which ranks 9th on the market cap, with a price of $ 14.49 and a capitalization of $ 9 billion. The company behind EOS has developed a platform that it expects will surpass Ethereum, which will play the role of major global adoption technology in the next few years.

Simple answer is VECHAIN. The crypto market has had its "bubble-pop" moment in 2018, seeing many coins trade for just 5-10% of their all-time high values. With the "pop" many believe some coins will go to zero. And with reports that several coins valued in the millions have no working product, this makes sense.
But Vechain does have a working product. It's a product that the company has been developing since 2014: a blockchain-based ledger that helps record large-scale logistics for enterprises. With an original focus on anti-counterfeiting, Vechain has seen its blockchain idea expand to insurance, automobiles, luxury goods, and more. And it's being used today - both with physical RFID tags the company has developed, and now in part of a recently announced partnership with BYD to work on a carbon credit system.

Competition is a good thing but honestly i can't see project that will overpass ethereum. Just because before they deliver robust and reliable solution ethereum will solve main problem - scalability. Perhaps most importantly that this issue already solved(3rd party projects). In the upcoming weeks/months we will see first mainnet releases from these projects.

The alternative for Ethereum we don't have now. But in the future, it will be altcoin which also supports many tokens. As written in this thread maybe it will an NEO. But I have a number of doubts about it. Because this token doesn't develop with big temps as Ethereum in the last periods.

I think which altcoin can change ether and become number 1 altcoin. I think there are some altcoins that appear at this time, such as TRON, NEO, EOS and others. But it all depends on the demand and also from the better transaction speed in the market. who can change it.

I think NEO will replace the aether in the future. NEO has more features than any other altcoin. NEO operates on a major economy is China. NEO is supported by the Chinese government. So I believe that NEO is a valuable coin in the future.

I think EOS can be change Ethereum. Because EOS using a delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) protocol that should eliminate the bottleneck that Ethereum is experiencing. DPoS protocols are also impressive because they can allow developers to freeze the network when a broken application is identified. While frozen, the developer can fix the problematic application without negatively affecting other accounts within the network.

Though I don't think Ethereum can be replaced by another coin. Ethereum such a big platform and it makes very easy to make on this platform because of the revolutionary contract system! However, if any coin can replace Ethereum by somehow then I think EOS will be that coin. EOS or ADA or BNB can do it. This is my personal opinion.

Right at the moment, I think there is no altcoin can replace ETH but in the future, maybe EOS, NEO or few other altcoins can replace ETH and become the best altcoin of crypto market Smiley. At the moment, although price of ETH is falling very quickly but it's still the best altcoin because so many ICO projects are being developed depend on blockchain of ETH.

I can't think of an altcoin that could replace Ethereum from being number 1 altcoin. But, I think Its coming hardfork Constantinopole might be. It is Ethereum's upgrade with high expectations and as designed will perform better than Ethereum. Let's see.

I think Dogecoin is the closet that could replace Ethereum because Dogecoin is the only altcoin that is not affected much by the down market. It holds its price at a stable price.
