Almost all Altcoin prices fall by more than half of their ATH price I think it's good to buy Altcoin at current prices but, even though the current Altcoins price is cheap I suggest you do some research before buying coins because there are many Shitcoins in the markets.

You can see the current price of altcoin at coinmarket cap and invest on those coins which one you like to invest but don't invest on single coins try to split your investment into three or four parts and then invest on the growing altcoins with much potential.But no safe coins not best coin you have to find that if I know then I will be a millionaire now. 
That's a good amount to start, split it up between a few coins.
