Personally, I choose the Ethereum as the first choice, then, I think EOS, XRP, Tether, and LTC can be the next option.
Eth and Xrp will be a good choice to trade for as of the moment because this two coin are highly volatile. You can have great profit with this if you enter and exit in the right time. But I suggest to make a good analysis before you trade so you will not lose everything in trading.

from my opinion i suggest you to go for XRP. i like this coin. this is the third largest coin in cryptocurrency. though market is not good at all. it will recover soon.

i would like to suggest you not to go eth at present time. the market condition of eth is not good at all. if you really want to invest on it wait for some time.
There is no specific things or rules besides monotiring whitepappers and roadmaps of coins you are interested in. Good advice is to look for currently "red" coins on markets and in longer term you will get profits for sure.

Try to buy the etherium. The price is very classy and soon the expected sharp growth. You can also buy NEO and EOS 
Of your coins, I only like BNB. Look at how this coin has been behaving for the last six months. The whole market is falling into the abyss and BNB doesn't seem to care. But when the market starts to grow, this coin can also grow well.

I prefer you to wait and see which coins are profitable for you. Spend some time in market. If I am going to buy any alt coin then maybe I will go for ripple. It seems promising to me.
I would trade NEO as it fluctuates a few dollars a day. If you watch it long enough you can time entry and exit points and make a few bucks a day. I have had great success with NEO and recommend it highly. I trade on Binance.
There are few projects that seems to me great and profitable. But they are not launch yet. You can check those if you can wait. These are Ripple, NEO and Paragon. But I prefer Ripple much. It has great potential.
