MY opinion, altcoins is better to make a good profit in the short term. But most altcoins are the best investment for the long term. That's like these coins. NEO, ETH, IOTA

Major factor to consider is whether a project has a working product/prototype/service or is just still a concept or work in progress. This could be fodder for extinction as non-operational altcoins are weeded out in favor of ones that actually have something on the table or have made significant partnerships.

The altcoins are really going to survive for a very long time. The coins that shall survive are definitely Paragon, Stellar and Cardano. They are excellent for long term and profitability.
No need to talk about those projects that are actually working on their products, so I think it will be clear that the projects. who definitely know how to work with humanity will live as before, but I also want to note that the world is still developing and doing it quickly.
I think it is too early to predict. My opinion is not over correction, it is very difficult to know something for sure. That's how the market will level off. Then I will say what I think.

There is no doubt that all alternative currencies that have a good and useful product will not only survive, but also greatly increase in value. There are too many empty coins and tokens on the market that can be compared with garbage. But we must understand that the market is very young and a similar situation should have happened.
I don't think there are many coins that can survive, this is because there are too many coins and tokens that make investors only choose coins that are better and stronger, and bitcoin, ethereum, ripple and IOTA are coins that can last for a long time.
Alts these days are like stocks. They have taken on characteristics of small businesses where the value of the coin asset is determined by the work the various teams are doing and the results being achieved. The altcoins that will surely survived are ethereum and those projects that have good fundamentals. As long as cryptomarket exist those altcoins with real-world use cases will survive.
The number of these altcoins is huge and with each new ICO more of them appear, initially, all projects have the right to life, it all depends whether they can convince investors to invest money in them. Every day the list changes, because many projects die and others come in their place.
surely the 10 coinmarketcap altcoins are the best and will last so if you want to buy coins you can buy the top 10 marketcaps

No one knows, but the only altcoins that surly survive are the altcoins from the top list like the top 10 altcoins, because not just the leading top altcoins but they are the most usable and has a good capitalization in the market that investors want to see to invest in. The risk is not too high compare to those altcoins below the top 10,
Until now (October 2) 2007 coins and tokens have been registered in Coinmarketcap, because of the large number of coins and tokens, the competition has become very tight, I am sure that only 15% can last for a long time and the rest will disappear.
Right, tight competition will make good coins now disappear tomorrow or the day after, there is no guarantee that these coins can last long, the best thing we do is always keep the latest news in this forum.
I believe that the top 10 coins will survive. Such as ethereum, litecoin, eos, neo dash. I am certain that these coins will survive in the future. I really hope for their growth.
These one which are active now when market is down and they still develop their blockchain solution. These one which are silent now are probably out of the projects.
I cannot be specific on this but I know that any altcoin with a great reputation, Good product and have a good team and great community who back it also, such project will Survive.
With many altcoins that are existing once the project has a strong community and their is good development it can survive. Yes those good products can really exists in crypto so let us also observe the market status and search the best project. 
The alternate coins that will survive are the ones that has an aggressive circulation. Stagnant coins will just die eventually so make sure to dispose it as soon as you can. Doesn't matter if the coin is at the bottom tier as long as they are being sold and someone is buying them. That will be enough for a coin to survive.
We don't know which altcoins will survive but I am pretty sure that the top 20 will be there forever. Many of them have awesome projects.
