i use blockchain.info as its the most popular explorer
It was, but unfortunately they have made too many fuckups. Especially now with the recent issue with accepting invalid txs, I'd say they lost their credibility.

But no worries, there are plenty alternatives which are at least as good. Some even better, imho.

When you check an address balance or a transaction status online, which block explorer do you use ? If you run a service depending on a third party API, which block explorer's API you rely upon ?

Update: I'm listing out the outcome of this thread here...

1. https://blockchain.info/

2. https://blockr.io/

3. https://blockexplorer.com/

4. https://www.biteasy.com/

5. https://chain.so/btc

6. https://helloblock.io/

7. http://bitcoinchain.com/block_explorer

8. https://bkchain.org/btc

9. http://bitinfocharts.com/bitcoin/

10. http://www.blocktrail.com

11. http://explorer.chain.com/

A few more (they all seem to work well):

-BlockCypher: https://live.blockcypher.com/

-BitPay: https://insight.bitpay.com/

-blockinfo: http://blockinfo.org/

-Coinprism: https://www.coinprism.info/

Some comments on the ones that are currently listed (did some testing):

3. Blockexplorer: Clunky, slow, unreliable. It often fails to display updated transactions, sometimes it won't even be able to load an address at all. I respect that they were pretty much the first block explorer (or the first?), but there are much better alternatives out there.

That's it, enjoy! I'd love to hear some feedback about my list as well if anyone has any.

Now, as blockchain.info is down, I'd like to add http://blockmeta.com to the list. Smiley

I'd recommend this to be added as well...

http://chainflyer.bitflyer.jp

There is another to be added to the list...

https://www.smartbit.com.au/

Australia's first blockchain explorer.

Thanks for providing the details. OP updated with all the new block explorers.

I am using the all-time-classic blockchain.info explorer.
Why? Because it just works!
Occasionally I use blockexplorer.com when in need of more technical info!
im moving away from blockchain.info as it has become unreliable as of late and has downtimes that are more than necessary, and viewing more info is always a good thing imo.

Downtimes? When did it happen? I saw once like... a year ago that lasted for an hour or so.

i think there was another one a few weeks back, i dont really remember the exact time too well, but my logic is that downtimes are a huge no no for blockchain.info, considering the services they provide; they provide a wallet service, which I personally, would like to have access to my money 100% of the time, and although the incidents were few, blockchain.info has shown vulnerabilities, and it was more or less pushed me away from their website.

At the beginning I'm using blockchain.info from the searching results of Google, now I'm still using it, but I'm using blocktrail as an alternative option when blockchain.info say that 'Maximum concurrent requests reached' for me.

BTW I still have my main wallet at blockchain.info, which have handled my over 1BTC in total.

despite all the problems and down times associated with blockchain.info , i still prefer using it for checking stuff out . because i am more comfortable with the layout.

but i also use btc.blockr.io and blocktrail if i need to double check something or if blockchain.info  is down.
