A good question but hard to answer this.
We all dont know what could happen. So even we suggest something it will just be a prediction and you cannot rely with that.
Perhaps, monitoring the price of every coin will be the key here. You will need to look at them very closely after this August 1. As of now, my alts have not been withdrawn thinking there will be something good that will happen with the alts prices.

Are you sure you will only be fixated on one option? There are some altcoin that I think deserve to be maintained. Like Waves and LTC. The Waves platform is now widely used by ICO coin developers as their base. And LTC is an old coin, and no doubt about it. If unsure, try your analysis of these two altcoins.

For long time investment I will always chose ethereum, and for gambling I will go on Netko

Hacking is irrelevant, it just wipes out the careless babies and teaches careful new investors a valuable lesson. It's not like the Blockchain has been compromised, people simply fell victim to classical phishing.

You could give bitcoin cash a chance if the split occurs. During the split bitcoin may go bokers due to the panic and at the same time bitcoin cash may gain value (Just a speculation). Ethereum also may face an upward flow in the price if the ico scene is stable enough and if no more hacking is going to take place.

If just one coin, then go with AiCoin for sure.

The best ico coin to invest in august would surely be bitdice if you are not aware they have closed their bankroll and decided to expand bitdice to fiat gambling also , not only that if you hold their tokens you will get 70% of the company profit this is surely a really good ico after a long time. Dimcoin also seems to have a really good future in my opinion.
If you want to invest in a established coin them look out for ltc it had a price of 0.02 but now at 0.016 so this is surely a good trading strategy .

Keep your money only on bitcoin by that time and have faith in it, I know there is a chance that one will profit in august 2017 fork. If you really want to hedge onto an altcoin, I suggest to hedge on LTC now, it is a lot better to use for hedging than other coins, because it already has segwit implemented and is sitting at a regular price, not a hyped one unlike ETH that is still sitting on a high price.

Decred and litecoin may be good picks for next year.

If ETC is used as an historical indicator, it will be a huge dump into near worthless, and then people slowly realize this thing isn't going anywhere and can have value due to existence of the "purists", then it'll slowly gain value, but won't reach the value of the mainstream fork.

If Bitcoin's hard fork is successful you should try to buy it and hold it for long time because it will rise soon or you may stick to ethereum or waves since those two coins are solid and using it on any new project nowadays.

Bitcoin Cash would be the obvious answer. Post the hard fork on August 1, there will be a massive rush to dump BCC coins on whichever exchange lists them. After that, we will have to see where the true value of BCC settles.

I think ️DGB, ️XRP, ️Dash are good variants.

I think the coin best to buy in the month of august 20q7 is still its a bitcoin why? Because on that month theres no doubt about the people mind. And for sure many people invest in bitcoin because no doubt and for sure the price will increase again and you will earn a lot of profit after few months of holding and maybe you will become rich if you buy thousands of bitcoins. More bitcoin more money.

Many projects are using ethereum and waves platform, I think ethereum and waves is good option after bitcoin. Ethereum price is expensive (suitable if you have a lot of money) and waves is a good price because still cheap.

Bitcoin of course. Wait and try to get some really cheap. Place really low buy orders, there might be some huge flash dumps. Hold it in a wallet and get some of the other chain, what's it called, bcc. I'll be trying to get some cheap byteball also.
