Your question has baffled me. For me, the only coin in which you can safely invest for 5-10 years is bitcoin. Other coins I would consider for a shorter time. About a year to 2-3 years. I think there are those who have the opposite of my opinion.

I am more interested when you choose BTC instead of having to invest in a new project, because in my opinion investing in new projects is too risky, alternatively other than BTC I prefer ETH for hold long-term

Majorly main crypto can be good for long term,btc is undeniable one which is irreplaceable crypto whose price will go up only in future.but you can choose good project token or coin as well as there roadmap complete there price will rise giving you good profit.or you can choose from crypto which are showing good sign in bear market as well.

Bitcoin as a store of value.
Ethereum as a token for the biggest world decentralized computer.
PundiX as a token for everyday life.
IOTA as a token for internet of things.
Vechain as a token for transparent tracking products.

As you see, I choose the coins, that could really help the world .

Btc, ETH , xrp etc are all good coins and buying now when market is low make so much sense to get at lower price so that in long term this coin will give you Good return and you can even become millionaire if you stay invested with the best of the coins .

My top 3 coins is:
1) Tomochain (have maiinet already, will have sharding in Q2). Their CEO is a former founder of NXT and NEM.
2) Pchain - they will have maiinet in March this year. And they have most highest TPS in testnet. Their CEO related with China government.
3) PalNetwork. Already launched maiinet. Have partnership with some big companies like Toyota. Have working insurance products and real usecase of coins.
All this projects have low cap in this bear market and big potential to grow.

if someone has a billion dollars to invest in cryptocurrency, then this person clearly does not have a lack of financing for his life. Investing in a long term for 5-10 years is quite too long if you will put your money on altcoins. Those altcoins has no assurance that it will last for 5 years due to market manipulation. I will prefer to invest my money in bitcoin because it has a proven that will grow the price higher in the coming years or in 5 to 10 years from now.

Of the altcoins for a long term investment, I primarily consider the Ether, Ripple, Litecoin and Monero. Monero is the most popular anonymous cryptocurrency and I think it will be so in the next few years. All the other coins I have proposed have excellent development teams that are constantly working to improve their projects. They are also quite popular, which indicates their importance.

Talking about great cryptocurrencies for long term investment makes me think about those general cryptocurrencies that are already listed on top. I don't give any second thought about investing Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple, EOS, IOTA, Cardano, and the likes as long as i have the money to invest on them.

The market situation that is still red until now is certainly a major factor for us to focus on coins that have good prospects in the future, and in my opinion that only happens to coins that have a large market or more than $ 1 billion such as ripple, ethereum and so on.

Cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, ethereum, ripple and other top coins are good for long term investment. The bear market seem to be extended this year as bitcoin price continue to decline for the past several days. More patience is needed for this kind of market situation but I believe that the market will become bullish again.

I agree, if you goal is to hold your coins for the long term then there is no need to take a risk with a coin nobody really knows, it is way better to stay with the coins in which everyone has a high level of trust and I cannot think of any two better coins than bitcoin and ethereum, if you want you could buy some litecoin as well but that should be enough diversification for those looking to hold for the long term.
