Eos will be the best variant here, it is good for everything here thanks to its being universal and I consider that you will get a maximum profit from this.

as you said it depends alot on your short and long term goals, but either way a good coin that you should look at is OCEAN, its POSEIDON FOUNDATION tokens, its not on exchanges yet, but there it a token sale. Very interesting project that focuses on climate change and creates a new channel of demand in the carbon market. in less then a year achieved a lot of important partnerships including with Liverpool City Council.

I think bitcoin and ethereum remain the best to buy. besides that EOS is worthy of consideration because there are many new projects that use the platform. So, my recommendation is 40% for bitcoin, 40% for ethereum and 20% for EOS. 
If you are new in the crypto world, you should start with Bitcoin and Ethereum for invest. And learn other coins before investing in ICO.

Is not as much about high ROI as it is about investing in things you know about and can judge. The risk must be carefully balanced for your personal tastes.

It's not that complex but to answer that depends on how much you are looking for the profit. You can have ROI but the question is when it will come? you know that there's no assurance in cryptocurrencies when it will skyrocket. Like today, the market is bleeding and it's hard to say when it can recover but this is the best time to invest.

That is true specially when you have bought them in their lowest point this year and the market is readying for the bull run. Also BTC and ETH can be traded to other cryptocurrencies that will have potential or you can put them into ICO's or do trading(both of which is very risky). If you want to have the best investment in the market right now without considering BTC and ETH you should learn first the projects and community that backs up a potential altcoin as that will be the basis of its price in the market.
I think one of the best options for investing is the coin exchange Binance. It has grown very much over the year and holds perfectly to the attacking market..
