Depends on you, if you like high risk, choose a bigger coin, such as Bitcoin. If you want long term profit, choose ETH. Look at Ethereum graphs, they all have positive values in long term.

Other users have already advised you to get at least the basic knowledge first before finally releasing money. And rightly so. What I intend to point out is that this is not just for you to finally decide whether you will purchase only Bitcoin or only ETH or both; this is actually to minimize the risk. You planning to purchase without understanding how the cryptocurrency market works means you will be exposed to the different predators in the market. The market is full of phishing attempts, fake sites and apps, scams, and so on. Studying the market means understanding how to buy, where to buy, what wallet to use, and so forth.

For me now, blockchain projects and NFTs are the best bargain now. you need to study the flow of the market. smart contract projects like solana, avalanche, Fantum are the real deal and will always move high in price. gradually. many more will join. Also NFTs are kicking out the defi tokens and gradually, we will see more of NFTs GETTING THE better hands and investments. always do your research and remember to invest what you can loose.

Best cryptocurrency to buy presently and always is Bitcoin, and you don't need to understand how crypto market works.
Making monthly purchases of Bitcoin have proven to be one of the best strategies for investing in Bitcoin, or buying when price goes down.
Now hold BTC four years if you can, and you will see it grow in value, but try to avoid buying on top and selling on bottom Smiley

Not your Keys, not your Bitcoin
I intend to purchase some BTCs/ETHs into my blockchain wallet but I'm still sceptical about which of the coins is better and won't fall below the water. I am asking this because I don't understand how the cryptocurrency market works yet.

BTC or ETH? I would appreciate your suggestions, thanks.

Market is always volatile. Hence, none knows which coin will move in which direction. But yes, you can hopefully invest in either BTC or ETH. As of now, you  can better go with Bitcoin and hold it for few years. A best coin even a newbie can invest in. So go with BTC and leave it to long term.

Altcoins do follow Bitcoin's growth. So, if you are new here then, invest in BTC.

Gamble responsibly
I will have you my own opinion on the best cryptocurrencies to buy, the best suggestion is to out your 70% money on bitcoin while 30% on altcoins, altcoins are very volatile than bitcoin, bear market can result to more losses if you buy altcoins, it means altcoins are more risky but there is nothing bad to put 30% of your money on altcoins.

70% on bitcoin
30% on altcoins

Suggested altcoins are: ethereum and binance coin. But you can do your own research to find other better altcoins but know that some altcoins are shitcoins, do not let their low value entice you to buy them, if bought, the coins will do and your money will be lost.

Before buying cryptocurrency you must know it well. Suggestions from others may not always work for you.  However, between these two coins, I must suggest Bitcoin. Because most of the time in the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin has dominance. If Bitcoin falls, so will other coins.

Umm...
I'm just not sure you really don't understand something when you say this (probably faking it), while on the same day you teach other people how to make money in trading. My question is, how do you understand the lessons you have shared so far?

Consider not asking questions if you don't really want to know.
I'm also not sure that you are new here.

I intend to purchase some BTCs/ETHs into my blockchain wallet ...
A Blockchain wallet?  Make sure this isn't a Blockchain.com wallet which is prone to different issues upon purchasing crypto to their bank/credit card account.  The web wallet isn't good for storing your crypto and I suggest a single wallet upon storing your asset for free or much better if you will choose a hardware wallet which is also supported altcoins.

The rest of you're concern was stated above, if you don't know how this cryptocurrency works, don't hurry upon investing.  You need to understand first the possible circumstances that waiting ahead.  The word risk is in crypto, understand risk might help for a productive profit.  If you'll understand, you'll see the difference.

@OP, I suggest seriously taking what Upgrade00 said. if you don't understand how cryptocurrency and its market works, it would be for the best to read, research and learn before doing deciding to invest in it.

Search on Bitcoin and altcoin books/resources (here on the forum) and look into them, to understand more on how it works.
if OP is interested, here are some books related to bitcoin compiled by ratimov Big Library of Bitcoin & Blockchain Books

See if you are long term investor and don't have any plans to sold early then undoubtedly bitcoin best fits into your category even if you don't know how it works. But ETH is something different from bitcoin in many ways and you can have lessons about it as there are many technical terms of which you might not be familiar with. You can get btc at some discount at the current prices so best is to put your funds in bitcoin rather than going for any other altcoins.

But you can do Dollar cost Averaging with your bitcoin investment which is scattering your investment over certain period of time rather than investing all your funds at one go as with this you can have more sats(small amount of bitcoin) accumulated with you but the suggestion is bitcoin which may match with above suggestions.

First, I agree with the previous opinions that you should inform yourself better before investing, otherwise you are playing roulette.

Between Bitcoin or Ethereum, I clearly choose Bitcoin, because it is decentralized and because it was not premined by 70%. If you study the difference between Bitcoin and what we call shitcoins you will see that although there are 11,753 cryptocurrencies, there are 11,752 that share many characteristics and one that is essentially different from the rest, which is Bitcoin.

I hope that someday you will come to understand the difference.

Here's a tip: Before actually spending your money and making cryptocurrency investments, probably learn about what you're buying first.

And no coin is safe from dropping down in price significantly.

The best suggestion to you would be to first understand what is a cryptocurrency and how it works? Please do not invest without knowing about Bitcoin or Ethereum. Since you are new to this forum it would be better if you can be active here and learn about them. There is a dedicated board for Bitcoin and on this board, you can talk about altcoins. Read a few articles about both Bitcoin and Ethereum by searching them on Google. Do not invest in something which you do not understand otherwise you will lose your capital.

because I don't understand how the cryptocurrency market works yet.
If you do not understand how it works, maybe you shouldn't be investing just yet. Improving your knowledge about it should be your main focus right now. What you would be looking at is how they both work and the fundamentals behind them, this would tell you which is likely to stay above water. You can also use previous chart as a reference to know which has been more consistent in value overtime.

Search on Bitcoin and altcoin books/resources (here on the forum) and look into them, to understand more on how it works.
Also, the most recommended software wallet to use on mobile or PC is electrum, and if you want to purchase higher amounts, look into hardware wallets.
