While I didn't take Thermodynamics in school decades ago, I am 99% sure that every single watt that comes out of the wall ultimately ends up as heat in one way or another. Even the spinning fans produce heat of their own, as well as moving air.

A very small part of the wattage input into a miner get turned into usefull work communicating with the outside world, and does not end up as heat in the room the miner is in.
On the other hand, that's probably something on the order of a very small FRACTION of one watt, so for PRACTICAL purposes the entire energy usage of a miner (and it's power supply, use an INefficient PS if you want more heat) gets turned into heat eventually.

If noise is an issue, SP20E is the best option - set the fan to a "quiet enough" setting then let IT set the clocks.

I believe at least some of the Avalons could be set up that way as well, but never owned one to try it.

Avalon 4.1 are the best on sound no doubt about it.   Nothing compares to them on how quiet they are.   If you run underclocked especially it's amazing on how quiet it is.

Below is one in action:

Spondoolies sp35! Shocked

3.5kw with 4*8cm fans....

The problem with some like this will it heat up a room... yes very much so Smiley.  But the noise of it is going to be more then I like personally.

I'm not sure what noise level OP wants.  But I think noise is important when trying to use miners to heat a room.  I admit I have had loud miners in my room when testing.  But I personally am not a huge fan of having a loud miner in my room long term.  I normally just test it for first day's in room and then move to my mining area.  Although some of the 240's ones I have been doing straight out to my mining area.

I also had sp10! maaaaan.,, that whining noise that i could hear even when i was outside in the street Smiley

SP3x can be used with the lowest setting possible. Another idea might be to use a row of 3 12cm fans ducted to the front of the miner. It will surely help with cooling and decibels!

The AntMiner S1 - Make the best heaters, hands down, why?

-They heat up a lot and can run to 200GH.s which ain't much for 400 watts but much better than a Block Erupter
-Some would argue to downclock it instead, but not for heating, you want it as hot as possible
-They just look awesome, they are a legendary miner and quiet when in a cold room
-I have 4 of them left and I take them out in winters; all running right now
-They are tough as nails, they are more reliable than many other newer miners
-Your PSU will also generate heat itself... a lot of it too!!

The other I would recommend is the S3!!
It's not as hot as the S1 but it is much cooler and much, much quieter than the S5.
The S3 is better with handling wifi than the S1 too, not needing an antenna most of the time.

I currently use my S1's and S3's to heat my cold ass Canadian home.

Problem with avalons that i cant buy any on eBay and avalon 4 cant see another to buy.

Hard part about 4.1's is most who have them paid more then S5's.   They are one of the most quiet miners out there to if underclocked which costed a premium.

I plan after winter selling my set of 3.   If a deal came before then depending on price I might do it.   Guess all depends on price.

Well, the heat is not only produced by the miner but also the PSU.There is no perfect miner but more efficient one.I would recommend Avalon 6 and S5 and of course platinium PSU.

If you wanted to try and obtain a Spondoolies SP50, that would probably be the current "King of the Hill" in terms of heat production. You can obviously generate the equivalent amount of heat using numerous smaller miners. Right now the power consumption that miner remains unclear, though it's probably several kilowatts. Let us know if you ever find one one. It's generally shrouded in NDA's.

While I didn't take Thermodynamics in school decades ago, I am 99% sure that every single watt that comes out of the wall ultimately ends up as heat in one way or another. Even the spinning fans produce heat of their own, as well as moving air.

Maybe you really had something different in mind for your question.

Yeah I would suggest the S3 or S3+.  Great reliable miners.

If you are located in the US, I have a C1 for sale.  Its basically a water cooled S3 so its even quieter.  Last winter I ran it in my living room as a heater and my wife didn't complain about it.

s3 even overclocked doesnt generate that much heat:( even s5. shame.
So far only KNC titan was nice heater. anyone tried butterfly monarch? I heard they generate a lot of heat

The thing that matters is how much watt the miner consumes.
All the electricity that are pushed through the miners, are converted into heat, as a bi-product.
The only exception is the electricity that drives the fans, which are turned into mechanical energy (moving the fan around).

Over past week I have been using a Avalon 6.  It is actually pretty good as far as heat compared to sound.

I have used it for a week and been happy with it in a room.  It might end up putting it in miner are as it weather warmed up a little last night.  And get it again once it's colder again.

Good old 2.1Th Dragon miner generates heat more than enough. Downside is that it has about 15 fans, all spinning full speed and noise is like jumbo-jet. And you can't lower fan-speed, I've tried.

Those old Zeus rigs used to generate a lot of heat. Those Volcano miners were drawing much over 1000W and some companies even used their boards to fit more chips in one case.

By far the hottest miner I ever used is the Alcheminer - they increase the ambient temp by 30f without breaking a sweat.  They also are super stable hashers if you use the latest firmware that a forum member made - it works like a champ.  I actually liked them quite a bit, but the heat was way too much for me...
Alchminer is veeeeeeeeeeery difficult to buy which is shame:(
Trying to get S5 cheap:) will replace fans and should be nice heater

S1's make great little space heaters. You might want to replace the fan to keep the noise down though.
