I don't think any of the coin you have listed can be called as scam because all of them have active developer team behind and are not simply pump and dump coins.

There was an alt named TODAY coin that turned out to be a scam coin where i got busted, another one is quite new one i.e. VIDZ  which turned into scam after conflict between two developers behind the project.

What I mean by scam coin is when the purpose of the developers is to make as much money from the investors.

What I mean by shit coin is that it is not a scam but it's shit in terms of it offers nothing technological new or has very limited capabilities. Similarly like for example launching a crap new brand sports car in the sports car market that is already been monopolised by established Porche, Lambo, Ferrari etc.

there has been some evidence posted that monero is mostly mined by a few large botnets. or so i have heard. idk where that post went though

I am 99.99% that half of Monero was not mined by botnets.

Now who are botnets? Unused CPUs.
So someone hacked your refrigerator to mine Monero for him. Yes HE is a criminal. Lets hope HE will pay his debt to society. But the coin has nothing to do with the hack of your refrigerator, since if your refrigerator would not mine Monero would mine some other coin or do some other calculation.

That is same as if bank robbers went to supermarket buy them self a sandwich. Without sandwich they would not be able to do a bank robbery. They used USD to buy sandwich and in also buy one.  So with your theory, those that issue USD are scammers also the ones that produce sandwiches are a scammers.

Oh also internet is a Scammer since let those hackers hack your refrigerator.

I agree with what most people had posted. You can't generalize as to hich ofthe coins you mentioned are scam because often people view pump and dump coin as a scam coins. Technically the onl legit coin are the ones with a stable market value.

You cant generalize this question in this way. Almost all of these coins brought something new if you refer to technical stuff.
What you mean as a scam? I have no problem with premines since you have to reward the devs. Also the ICO's are good for fair distribution and to continuously fund the project.

you need to clarify your question first. there is no single definition for the words "Scam" or "Shitcoin" which you are using in this topic.

there are so many manipulations in altcoin market and with one definition you can consider all of them as scams since they are all being pump and dumped and that is not logical or right.

but with another definition you can only call those coins with heavy manipulation, big pre mines or shady ICOs as scams. in which case a lot of the top coins fall under this category. coins such as Dash (big pre mine) and ETH (ICO and manipulation and centralized) fall in this category.

On this forum "scam" often means

(a) a coin I don't hold that is currently skyrocketing in price

(b) a coin  I lost money on.

(c) a coin where the developer didn't do things as fast as i like.

(d) a coin I don't like

Fixed it up a little for you Smiley

I think Dash and Ripple are the scam, and lots of others i don't know, i can't comment.
Dash change it name lots of time, it was a pro-mine coin, and rippleis totally another thing which is issued by a centralized company.

I would avoid anything other than: LTC, ETH, XMR and perhaps a few others that can be mined with gpu (like darkcoin).

both 'scam' and 'shitcoin' are kind of up to the individual opinion of everyone out there. it's effectively impossible to get an unbiased view from anyone on anything so give up and dig the profits.

OK lets go like this. First answer on your question. Scam word is used way to many on thsi forum. But yes most of this coins were a shortcut to a product. All ICOs are that. Instead of them to get an investor, they made ICO and gathered tons of BTC altho can be totally incapable delivering.
Now to list them frome more legitimate project to less legitimate it goes like this. Far ahead is Monero. Because s something new and really good  launched and developed.

Then Litecoin was old school fairly launched, but development now is nothing big, and also did not go tat far from Bitcoin.

Aeon is like Monero Light, well tries to be. With way less development ofcourse. Was fairly lounched, but almost abandoned after a half year. Probably dont deserve rank.3 but no one got free AEONS or got paid to develop it.

After that are bunch of ICOs. ICO mean developers paid them self salary before they made a product. So sort of someone sold you a car before he made it. Like Elon Musk with Tesla he sold cars before he even build a factory. Good luck to him. But i will list them from how i think are more legit till less, but i dont know them that much to exactly know how much developers took, so take it with reserve and keep them as something similar:
Decred
Siacoin
zcash
Ethereum
Iconomi
Augur
Golem
Lisk
Komodo

Ripple is centralised and given for free to those that builds Ripple infrastructure.

This two are special case. DASH look nice, but because of reduced emmision on second day, so much was mined on first day that with combination of PoS those guys totaly scamed since they did not just restart coin after 1 day. But now normaly works as a bitcoin clone. Altho made few people rich
Gulden is same case as DASH and was premiered and few people hold most. so yes could be said is a scam from this point.

Boolberry was nice coin similar as AEON or Monero but after half year abandoned and nooen develops it now. So is sort of waste of tiem to bother with it.
Pepecash same have no meaning. There is a game promised, but that is all.

Burst i dont really know what this is Tongue

None of them.
Not sure about pepecash as I haven't heard of it

Pepecash isn't an altcoin it's a token on counterparty.

I agree, none of them other than pepe.

If OP is thinking about buying then I would say Lisk - it still has alot of room to move but will take time. Maybe another year maybe more, it depends on how quickly they develop it. So far its been slow.

Komodo - its new out of the gate and is in development. Same scenario here as Lisk. Wait...

Aeon - hasn't had a pump yet, monero's little brother.

I heard Lisk uses slow Javascript which is not good. Is this true?

You mean Aeon is little brother to Monero similarly like Litecoin is little brother to Bitcoin?
