That's true.
Maybe I just preorder a bunch and if I get some before they get delivered I cancel the pre-order or I return them.

Since UK is still in the EU you can always return them in 14 days or cancel the preorder if you will have better price.

What do you mean? Do you think I have better chances to get a card in the UK?
I highly doubt that but if you have a link to a shop that does have cards - by all means please send it to me.
Sry my bad... I was looking at another profile -_-
I mean make your preorder you can return them always.

Now we are finally getting somewhere.
After calling more than 10 shops yesterday I got a clear answer from one of them:

The will get 30 Sapphire RX 580 Nitro+ 8GB cards in July 5th - so in a month.
The sapphire nitro+ cards are supposed to be good as far as I can tell from doing research on different forums.

Each card will be 339€ which is $382 and quite a lot in my eyes.

Now I guess since I just start out the real question is:
Should I just preorder 18 cards so I can at least build my 3 6 GPU rigs beginning of July latest or would you just preorder 6 cards so I can finish my first rig beginning of July for sure and then wait and keep my eyes open until then to see if other shops might get 570s or 580s in until then for a better price? What would you PROs do in that situation?

Again the goal is 3 6 GPU rigs to start mining as soon as possible.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Thank you guys. I really appreciate your input.

Now some of the cards that were supposed to arrive Thursday have been moved back 2 weeks. Crazy.

Now I am searching on ebay.
How much would you pay for and when would you say it is too much - because I guess it comes down to waiting until new supply arrives or pay more on ebay:

RX 470 4GB
RX 470 8GB
RX 480 4GB
RX 480 8GB
RX 570 8GB
RX 580 8GB

The difference I was referring to is between the Nitro+ 570/580. For long term I would go with the Nitro+ 580 8GB, ~30 €/card is not that much more for a single rig. It's a better card and will have better future resale value. Between the MSI 8GB and the Nitro+ I would go with Nitro+ 570 8GB. I don't have any but lots of miners like those cards and I've seen good results with them.

One nice thing with the Nitro+ cards is the BIOS switch. Should make it harder to brick if something goes wrong when modding the BIOS. Not sure if the MSI have that switch.

And like I said if everything goes according to plan I get these on the 8th of June:

Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 570 Nitro+ OC 8GB - for 254 €
Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 580 Nitro+ OC 8GB - for 288 €

Which one would you go for with the price difference being just 34 € to jump from 8GB 570 to 8GB 580?

I think it's worth the extra money for the 580. The cheaper models usually use cheaper memory. The 580 Nitro+ uses 8000 MHz memory vs 7000 Mhz for the 570 Nitro+.

Thanks.
Just updated my post with this, since I found 2 more suppliers:

Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 580 Nitro+ OC 8GB - for 288 €
Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 580 Pulse OC 8GB - for 289 €

And from the 15th of June on maybe this one:
MSI AMD Radeon RX 580 Gaming X 8GB GDDR5 - for 319 €

So you would say definitely invest a little more 30-50€ per card to get the 580s over the 570s everytime?
The reason I ask is because I am not sure that the 65€ price difference between the Sapphire RX 570 Nitro+ OC 8GB and the MSI AMD Radeon RX 580 Gaming X 8GB can be made up by the MSI card in terms of MH/s. As far as I saw all these cards get around 28-30.5 Mh/s when modded.

Although I'm new at this, I personally wouldn't buy the RX580 if the equivalent RX570 were available. Nor would I get 8GB if a 4GB model is available. The performance is so close that you're better off getting more cards for the same money. As far as future proofing your rigs, you will be buying new gear in 6 months anyway. Just get the maximum number of cards mining ASAP.

BTW. The only reason I purchased a mix of everything is because that is all there was. Every is New Zealand is now sold out for weeks, perhaps up to 2 months. Fortunately I was able to get what I needed even though it meant buying some RX580 8GB cards to fill the rigs.

Since RomeoXak mentioned that the 4GB models will no longer be able to mine ethereum from Q1 2019 on - would you just get the 4GB models that you can get and mine with them until they die or you upgrade the cards or would you specifically try to get 8 GB models if possible?

Surely PoS will be implemented before then anyway?

Do we care about that - since we can just mine ETC (or any other altcoin that looks promising) then or am I wrong?

The latest work is ETH will not go to POS all at once, but will use a hybrid model similar to Dash at first. The main problem with the 4GB cards is you won't be able to dual mine effectively once the dag goes past 3 GB early next year.

That makes sense.
So 8GB it is - except I can get still some of the 173? MSI RX 470 4GBs - then I guess I build one rig with them and wait for the RX 570/580s supply update to buy more cards for the other rigs.

I have several Sapphire Nitro+ RX570 and RX580 both in 4GB and 8GB. Dispite what I've read elsewhere before ordering, they ALL have Hynix RAM.

The best value and lowest power consumption are the  RX570 Nitro+ 4GB. THe 4GB at stock settings mine slightly faster than 8GB while consuming less watts.

The RX580 4GB at stock settings is 0.75 hashes faster than the RX570 4GB but for more watts.

I've yet to mod the BIOS on the cards to see how well they can perform but I suspect the performance ratios will remain the same.

My recommendation is get the RX570 Nitro+ 4GB.

Thanks everybody.

I think our shops are supposed to get new cards on the 8th and 16th of June.
So would you say I should wait and then get a bunch of 570/580s or just still try to get everything I can get my hands on like the Gigabyte RX 470 Gaming OC 4GBs that I still might get for 177€ a piece?

But how about value when you resell them after you upgrade. Would it not make more sense to get 570/580s instead of 470/480s since the 570/580s will most likely be sold easier later on.

Goodluck finding those mate. While you were designing your rig other have already cleaned out the shelves. There are no more 470/480/570/580 globally.
Lets just hope Chinese manufacturers will do the good thing and not hoard all those Hashes.

To Answer your question my picks for you are.
MSI Radeon RX 470 GAMING X 8GB

I will also choose that brand for the RX580 as well
From the discussions those 4GB, for ETH  will no longer work by Q1 2019, thats 1.5years from now.
