From what I have learn all sites have different price for bitcoin due to the demand being different on every other site. If you want to get a more accurate number, then look at preev which averages out the price from the most oftenly used and most famous exchanges.

I stick with bitcoinwisdom.com and when that site is not available i prefer coinmarketcap. Those sites got the best weighted averages between several exchanges. while preev was prety solid in the past today coinmarketcap shows you a good average between 20+ exchanges. Question is how accurate do you want it to be?

My First vote going for Preev though you can use it only for bitcoin price
http://preev.com/ Every time use it ,very simple without any trouble
Then you can be use CoinDesk
http://www.coindesk.com/price/ Here you find some detail such as price history and simple info for trader.

Since the day I stepped in the world of bitcoin i always have been using preev.com. They show the accurate price of bitcoin in dollars or euro's so you will find it every handy. Just make sure to select the correct exchanges, because btc-e is counted to, but their price of bitcoin is fair from accurate.

As far as i know you can easily identify  the value by the volume of buy and sells on that certain website. So i can't really say which certain website can be the most accurate one but since we do all know that blockchain really was the biggest site in terms of bitcoin so you could really try to consider it.

I am new to bitcoin and crypto in general.

I have decided to try to look through as many as the resources out there that I can and I have start noticing some strange things. For example, bitcoinwatch.com has the current value of BTC/USD at $597 where yobit.net has the value at $621. Which is more accurate? Can one be more accurate than the other? Are both values accurate but, the two sites just have it at different values?

And is there a site better than both of these that I may have overlooked?
Well... Depend on where are you doing trading, because every markets has price by their self, and there are not 100% accurate due to bitcoin's price always be fluctuation. And for reference about price of coins, usualy i used https://coinmarketcap.com you can check on there.

You can find all exchanges prices of all altcoins in coin market cap, this site is a source for most of Bitcoin and altcoin traders, because it gives you a list of all exchanges where the coin is tradeable with its price in every exchange, for me it is very important source.

My main reference is http://www.coindesk.com/price/.
However, different exchanges have their own value of each of their supported currencies.
If you want to see the prices in different exchanges, I think http://preev.com/ will give you the most accurate database of the prices and you can convert them into different currencies too.
No the prices are not really different.Just the servers calls that may cause the delay.I agree the sources may be different due to which the entire chain throttling the same API's may be affected but the most used exchanges with high number of bitcoin volume should be taken into consideration.Coindesk is safe.Preev.com always has a higher value ,a bit more incremented compared to coindesk.

well, when it comes about just checking the current and live bitcoin price I usually use the Google search. and Peerv sometime. but google search is more better and easy to do. you don't need to redirect to any other site. just write Bitcoin price and google show you the current price of bitcoin (google show it from some external site though, I think it is peerv rates)

I wouldn't check the bitcoin price on altcoin exchanges because sometimes they do not represent the real value of bitcoin.

Usually I check the bitcoin price on coindesk.com/price and from the graph options I can choose many resources (like Bitfinex, Coinbase, Bitstamp etc) and see all of them at the same time in the same graph.

...

ALL the sites show pretty similar pricing, sure they vary a bit, but not much.

Funny thing though, whenever I BUY Bitcoin (at a BTC ATM, for example) the price is always a little higher.  ANd many of the times I have bought gold (w/ BTC), the price of the BTC is lower.

I like ounce.me.  It shows BTC (also LTC & Ether) along with gold, silver, platinum, palladium, crude oil and the US$!

The site that I use most for showing current crypto value would be preev.com(which is not an exchange site). Every site has it's own value though due to it's volume, and the volatility of bitcoin.

As posted above by the others here, exchanges sites may vary  in terms of bitcoin price value.

So for a trader, they are watching the price obviously on the exchange site where they are doing trades. So if you have trading funds on action then monitor the price in your specific exchange site. Or in other cases, you have to convert your bitcoin into cash, check the price on that exchanger.

For instant result, you can just type "btc to usd" in the google search box. The result came from the first site of the result.

Every exchange has a different value then the other exchanges. Although, for a price check on my bitcoins, I normally use preev.com and not an exchange since you normally need to log in into an exchange.

it depends on the exchange, some price watchers take average price ,some take one particular exchange
I,personally, use https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/btce/btcusd just because I trade at btc-e and want to know their price and volumes, although as you can see,it differs from Huobi's or Bitfinexes

well if you check in different exchanger there will be a slightly different price, so there is a possibilities where all of the coin is in different price with other exchanger, so there is no more or most accurate price, you need to check every exchanger to get the best price for you
