Hello Everyone,

This forum has been extremely useful and helped me find a wallet for me. I am really curious what wallets other users use, so I created this short survey. I'll share the results when it's done!

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HD5GKRQ

In terms of huge invest in cryptcurrency then I always consider hardware wallet like ledger nano s as it is most powerful and secured crypto wallet with great and mind-blowing features Smiley The fact is if you are short term trader then you can use coinbase or respective crypto exchange but it;s not fully safe as many exchage site  got hacked Sad

I use coinbase and myetherwallet. this two wallet are the best.  It's easy to use and safest.
First off all Coinbase is not a wallet. Its just an exchange. I dont like to use Coinbase because they didn't give me private key for my wallet/asset.So its not safe at all.although coinbase is a trusted site/exchange.

Partially true. Some exchanges (like Coinbase) offer the user a hot-wallet as well.

Now, in terms of security that's debatable, given how "trusted" they are and all - can they really afford to mess with your funds?

On the other hands, it's more convenient for the average user, than actually getting a personal wallet (MEW, Ledger...), since it takes zero to no effort setting that up.

That being said, a good exchange / crypto platform should really keep most of it's assets in a cold storage somewhere (for everybody's safety) and show, that they are actually licensed to provide such a wallet service.

I'll stick to Jaxx and get a Ledger later on. When I was researching wallets, this article really helped me out a lot - https://kriptomat.io/en/best-bitcoin-wallet-crypto-wallet-security/

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies give us the power to control our values with ourselves and hence I am a great fan of the offline wallets. For me, it doesn't make any sense to hold funds online on any exchange or web wallet if we can hold it completely offline. As of now, I am using the paper wallet as my in cold storage and then I am using Trezor hardware wallet from the flexibility point of view. I also use web wallet but never keep more than 5% of my funds online.

If you choose, it's better among the most popular hardware wallets Ledger, Kepkey, Trezor. Although they have a relatively high price. But there are far fewer possible vulnerabilities. So it is better to give them preference. Especially if it's about the exchange there https://changevisor.com/bitcoin-best-rate-sell, which I often use for the optimal choice.

I use MyEtherWallet but sooner or later when I have money I would buy more secured wallets like ledger or metamask. It is recommended by MEW itself because more wallets means your savings won't be stolen in one swoop if it happens.

Ledger Nano S is the best wallet in the market which can support all the major coins. I am using at the moment and its very easy for the noob like me.I think it’s safe, and have my crypto on ledger. I have both the blue and the nano s.

Isn't that a bit subjective? "The best"... There are a few wallet providers like Ledger, and who is to say, that they are not all equally good?

There are various types of wallets in the worls. They are etherium based, bitcoin based, neo based etc. So we have to be careful when we choosing a proper wallet to store our tokens and coins. Because some people always trying to hack our wallets and takeout our tokens and coins. So we have to think about the security system of this wallets. I am personally using etherium based wallet. It is "myetherwallet". It is quite good wallet to safegurad our tokens and coins. But the disadvantage of this wallet is, we cannot store btc based or neo based coins and tokens in myetherwallet. Because it is etherium based wallet. So we need to make bicoin based wallet to store bitcoin based tokens and coins. This is a simple introduction to wallets in my opinion. Be careful when you use your private key.

Will it really depends on your preference like I used mycelium wallet for like 2 years and has recently switch to green wallet because they support segwit. Also I like to use electrum wallet on my desktop and in addition to all of this I have a paper wallet from the beginning of my journey in the Bitcoin system.

I mainly use bellow wallets.

MyEtherwallet: Eth based token(ERC20 tokens)
Aphelion wallet: Neo based Token(NEP5  tokens - Aphelion is the new good desktop and mobile wallet for neo-based tokens and it is easy to use than other neo wallets.)
Blockchain.info: for bitcoin

I could afford to hardware wallet it is the safest place to store your cryptocurrency. I prefer Ledger nano s version.

Finished the survey  Grin

I had the same question not to long ago. Decided to go for Jaxx wallet, after reading a (for me as a newbie) useful crypto wallet guide

I guess it all depends on how often you want to buy/sell, trade? and if you trust the platform or not.

Worst case, get a paper wallet, turn it into a steel wallet, put it into a safe and put that safe in a bank Cheesy

MetaMask: To trade ETH based tokens.

Exchange: For now I keep my coins there due to the export fees they charge. I just hope that the exchange is legit and stay safe until I settle the cryptos someday.

Mobile Wallets: CoPay and BRD because they are easy to access with PIN.

Also, I completed your survey.

I use Electrum, mainly because it is available in TAILS Linux. It is packed with features such as Pay to many, CPFP, ability to manually select fee, BIP173 (bech32) and the ability to use hardware wallets, choosing between bip44, bip49 or bip84. As well, you can load transactions using id, tx file, or qr code. But, probably my most favourite feature is the ability to use tor.

EDIT: I forgot to add the ability to sign/verify messages.

Using Coinbase as a wallet is definitely a bad idea. Read: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/general-bitcoin-wallets-which-what-why-1631151

MJ, why do you say this? The opening post of the thread you've provided the link for says nothing negative about Coinbase. Coinbase isn't called out as a mobile wallet, but there's certainly no reference to Coinbase being a "bad idea". Can you direct us the specific posts within the 15 pages of the thread?

Thanks.

What particular token or coin are you going to store? most of them has their own and unique wallet.
if you are talking about btc and eth im using blockchain, for ETH and tokens Myetherwallet, Imtoken.
but I suggest using a wallet with an app to avoid some phishing like blockchain, Coinbase (not able to store token right now)
Imtoken is good for bounty wallet it can store every ETH tokens. Using their site is also safe as long you always read the url of the site if its correct before entering your details.

NICE! Appreciate you offering to share the results once you have them compiled.

I use coinbase and myetherwallet. I like this two wallet.  It's easy to use and safest.

Will wait for the result although mostly I use MEW, eidoo wallet and there's one that's coming out, Ethos.

Hardware wallet for storing cryptocurrencies (wallets like Trezor and Ledger Nano).

I do the same and also use MEW for tokens. Hopefully I will be using a new EOS wallet soon too!

I used Myetherwaller for sometimes to store my tokens but now I am fun of metamask. Metamask seems more secured than MEW

That's why I created YT channel with wallet reviews, first one on the list is Copay and the possibility of setting up multisignature wallet from it:

Coinbase/gdax for exchange wallet and Electrum for desktop wallet.

exodus & metamask

Are any of you guys completely the survey? The OP asked for you to complete a survey!

There is no best wallet, everything depends on the one's needs.

True. Though in my opinion, the best should be the most secure. So obviously, hardware wallets like the Trezor[1] and the Ledger Nano S[2] are the way to go. Nice video though! Copay was one of the first bitcoin wallets I used.
