One of the local exchanges I use (coins.ph) asked for some additional documents back then and that led to my account getting locked luckily I didn't left any substantial amount on the account so I didn't bother following up on the KYC procedure and switched to another exchange. In Paxful i'm still able to trade without verification I guess you're already at your limit that's why you're asked to do KYC. It's indeed annoying but these exchanges are only following the rules so they could continue their services.

Check Binance. Non-verified users can withdraw up to 2BTC per day iirc.
But for P2P trading they only allow verified users.

No choice but to comply. That's their terms after all. I experienced the same with our local exchange. I can't withdraw to fiat but I can send it to another wallet so not a big issue to me.
That is a big problem in the long run in my opinion, not just for the customers but also for the exchanges. If their compliance comes to the point that it freezes your asset and gatekeeps users then that will leave a sour after taste to the people, eventually there will be a competitor willing to lax the compliance which will be detrimental to the exchanges with a very strict compliance.

IIRC, I didn't experience that inconvenience from an exchange. It's always a good practice to withdraw your funds in exchanges if you don't have the intention of trading.

I will definitely be buying a cold wallet or a Nano Ledger soon
Nano's proven a good hardware wallet. Buy from the official website.

And yes, it's good if you are considering having your own hardware wallet soon.

This is one of the reasons why I highly dislike leaving coins on exchanges and similar platforms. Paxful (a site where you can buy and sell bitcoin) recently added some stupid verification process to continue trading. If you don't do it, you can't buy and sell.

Bittrex did it to me before - and I didn't have a drivers license. So I had to travel to my moms house, get my birth certificate and passport and filed my drivers license as lost. Took about 2 weeks to fix that shit ... I couldn't withdraw my coins when that happened

So annoying

Which websites have hit you with that kind of thing - where they disable your withdraws until you provide I.D?
