This class war has been raging for centuries and there is finally a financial weapon that will one day turn the tide. Stanley Kubrick would have been proud of the invention of Bitcoin.

That. They don't understand what they're doing, or don't know what to do. The real fight is in here, trying to push Bitcoin. But these people just don't see it, and think we are their enemies.


A bit offtopic, but I recommend not using "the ... group" in the case of Anonymous. The point is that it's a swarm, anyone can join or leave or come back at any time. People fundraising for "the" group usually just represent a very tiny branch of the whole... thing, or whatever it is. Any real "anon" is unlikely to ever accept any kind of leadership. However, he'll probably be positively amused that someone was able to raise funds using the name.

Ofcourse, it's new, it's scary.
But i'm just very suprised that they aren't even 'open minded' (as they claim to be) to a brilliant concept.
Yet, they try to think of their own kind of money, probably gets down to trading classic goods and resources...

This was one of the few groups i really expected to jump on bitcoin eventually, maybe not initially, but in a few weeks or so.

Bitcoin is a great way to decentralize an economy, but I don't really think that cryptocurrencies are 'old' enough to become a country's economy.

Funny though, i've just been discussing with an occupy group and guess what their #2 item was...

"reforming the monetary system",

yet if you bring up bitcoin they all group up and form a group that looks an awfull lot like this

Not to mention the weaponized tear gas being used. It can cause the need for hospitalization. I find it funny, because these protests make sense, and are peaceful and unarmed, yet the Tea Party protests are people carrying loaded guns and nothing happens. The government has a bit of a problem with anyone that might make a difference.

I think a wound something like that on the neck has a fair chance of being lethal.

Beanbag rounds aren't supposed to be harmless.  They are non-lethal.

It may be that socialists distrust capitalism and the price system it is based on.

To a capitalist, there is no down-side to bitcoin: the decentralized model has a real chance of just letting the "invisible hand" of the free-market work.

We all hate the banks. But, when you tell a socialist that the solution is to start their own bank (read: small business), they will be skeptical. When capital concentrates, it becomes coercive.

On the rival thread thing: would a merge be possible?

First off, Bruce is my brother (really do have a brother named Bruce) and he doesn't have anything to do with Bitcoin at this time. I'm Bruno. (I know it was only a typo, so don't fret it).

As I just replied to your kind PM, no apology is needed on your part. The way I see it, a nerve was hit, therefore a reaction, at that time, was warranted on your part. I can easily state, and would be true, that I was getting tired when I penned that post, but that wouldn't be a fair excuse. Nevertheless, the issue is behind us and we can move forward.

One more thing. All because I'm currently evolved with a worthy casue--Bitcoin100 (not Bitcoin 100--where the hell did you learn to read and write?  )--doesn't mean you need to be light on me. Sometime in the future I may feel strongly about an issue which may be totally opposite your stance and you can't afford to not express your opinion because I'm attached to a worthy cause. (hope this makes sense to you, among others, and can see the jest of this paragraph)

When I read that, I took it as ignorance. Ignorance, that is shared by most of the world. Ignorance that is used on the Protesters, comparing them to hippies, slobs, and freeloaders. Those protesters, as I've said, have guts. They have the guts no one else has to stand up and say 'This isn't right!' When I read that, I felt an attitude pointing out that they don't deserve the respect they should have. Comparing the usage of BTC users-Silkroad users and Occupy-hippies was a good way to put it.

As for other info and my opinions, I'd rather not get into them yet in this post.

I feel the need to apologize, as I was unaware of the Bitcoin 100 project. I didn't know that your off key comments were coming from someone who has a good heart. I'm honored that you donated to the Bitcoin 100 project on behalf of me. I almost feel that I don't deserve it, as I'm only stating facts. I feel that people should be informed, as to the misinformation that the press seems to be doing lately.

As for the Occupy stuff. The Macing of the students (I assume is the video you were referring to), is entirely pathetic. It wasn't even a single spray, I'm told the officer unloaded the entire can onto them.

Time for me to apologize, again! Regardless of what others have so far commented on your post (quoted), personally I have to say that YOUR SPOT ON!, although I do find your last sentence irritating, of which I will address at the end of this post.

That's really fucked up on my part by implying and/or characterizing the whole group as hippies, drug users, pigs, etc., when I (and us) are taken aback when Bitcoiners are characterized as a whole due to a Silk-Road-type article or other negative press.

Each time I viewed the pepper spraying (yes, I've truly viewed them several times), my insides boil with anger. THAT IS TRULY FUCKED UP!

The other good point you've made is that they're kicked out from the encampment, having no way to clean up the mess for if they really wanted to, for they would, again, be pepper sprayed, then arrested.

In short, my point(s) of reference was influenced by only a small handful of articles and short videos I've recently read/seen online. That said, I need to retract my off-based post, for I now feel that it's somewhat not appropriate.

Here's the olive branch: For your discomfort (not a snide reference), I took the liberty to donate 1 BTC to Bitcoin100 in your name, legolouman. Please advise me otherwise if I shouldn't have done that.

I feel sad that you feel this way after expressing your valid points concerning OWS and the calling of me out. Your unique insight on this issue would certainly shed a better light on what's happening in regards to OWS. And don't be done with me. I want you, or others, to STICK IT UP MY ASS if and when I'm wrong. I need YOU TO STICK IT UP MY ASS. Perhaps, after awhile, I'll learn to like it and book a flight to Pattaya. The thing I like about bitcoin is that people here are actually trying to do something about the sorry state of affairs rather than just complain.  For the most part, OWS is doing little more than bring attention to the fact that there are problems (something the financial industry itself was already doing quite well on its own).  And I imagine a significant portion of the protestors would happily accept some kind of payoff by the gov't or banks just to make them go away without bringing about any real change…which would make them little better than extortionists.

Meh, all depends on who's doing the reporting. Gerald Celente (I admit, he's disturbingly socialist for my taste) walked around OWS with a camera and didn't seem to find it dirty. Other non-MSM sources report similarly.

I think I know where you're coming from, and I'm not gung-ho about the entire thing either, but you might want to check out some of the more objective (read: NOT rah-rah-OWS) videos on Youtube. Maybe start with user sgtbull07, then check out whatever related ones you like.

Even the participants who are disagreeable are pretty instructive... for example, I'm pretty dismayed by the people (vocal, but hopefully few in number) who literally just want the government to print money for all, not understanding the implications. But I've known about economic basics for so long I guess I forget it is not universal knowledge.

That comment seems to have irritated me. You can't listen to most of the media's comments. They are living at these places, when they are evicted, with tear gas and bean bag pellets being used on them, how can they clean up an encampment. From what I've seen they are perfectly fine for a long term camp, considering. The hippy inference also annoys me, these are normal people who realize something is wrong, without getting into details, they are right. I'd tell you more, but I'm now done with you, and this thread.
