who are the most vulnerable to falling into a gambling addiction?
When it comes down to addiction and what kind of gamblers are most likely to be addicts,I think the point to look at it from would be, the motive why some people gamble.
Those who gamble for fun are most likely not going to be addicts, hell no. They’ve got a good but not a far more important or dire reason to gamble. It’s more like, buying some fun with money and that’s it. If they can’t do that, then they’ll keep their cool eventually.

When it comes down to those who gamble because they need it, those who gamble to survive, it gets real. Given that gambling is highly based on luck and you seeking out that luck in the form of a breakthrough in your finances from gambling, you would find yourself gambling often than necessary and that’s how addiction builds.

You did well pointing out some of these known categories that is vulnerable for bettors to fall of gambling addicts.
So even if we don't fall in any of the categories, the awareness is enough to remind us that addiction is real and it is absolutely a habit that is gradually developed unknowingly.
Thank you, mate. It is some of the things I reflected back upon before gambling. I tried to check if I fell into these categories and vowed to stay a bit more careful. Awareness is always a good prevention.
Quote
My own speculations on this is that... No bettor should believe that he/she is not on the category of gambling addiction else, you would become one before your notice. It is a serious task for all bettors so that we don't become such victim as we can easily be carried away due to funs or chasing profits.
I do think that one of the first signs of being addicted is in denial. Some will justify their gambling addiction by saying it’s their last or they’re just chasing losses but in reality they already are addicted.

Similarly the first sign of recovery is admitting that they are indeed addicted.

I am sharing this to raise awareness so more people are aware whether they fall under these categories I mentioned and may have high chances of becoming a gambling addict. Let’s keep ourselves informed and in check. Not only ourselves but our loved ones as well.

If the question is who is most vulnerable to get caught up in gambling addiction then I would probably say that they are people who misunderstand what and how gambling really is regardless of their age and also regardless of their financial situation in life, so young or old it will always be possible to end up addicted and also no matter even if you are one of the rich people if you misunderstand what gambling is then in the end it is very possible for you to end up addicted.

Gambling addiction always occurs because of obsession and high expectations of winning, meaning that when from the start you only see gambling from the side of the chance of winning and do not know that gambling is not a place to earn or a place to solve financial problems then addiction is a possibility that you will definitely experience consciously or not.

As each gambler have their own life's battles, you will see different degree of how they will go deep in gambling. It also depends on their situation why they are being exposed to this addictive activity and what are their goals why they are exploring this. And if that person has a lot of idle time, more than likely, he will be subjected to this activity in a lot more ways than people who are busy earning income from other activities.

It's true that the most addicted people initially had pre-existing mental conditions, if not their common sense should tell them that they cannot win back their losses as they keep on gambling to recover them back. It's a norm that a hard drug addict will gamble, because he will always love to gamble for profit in order to buy more drugs.

Teens are copy cats, they do whatever they see on tv or on social media without knowing the consequences attached to it. Some of them might want to do it for fun, but along the line, they become addicted they don't have anyone to help them.

Gambling addiction is actually a mental disorder especially when it gets to the level of dependency, some gamblers feel incomplete if they haven't gambled in 24 hours, even when they are broke they find all means to get money to gamble so as to satisfy their urge. When they don't care about the consequences of their actions and also don't care if they win or lose then it has become a serious issue that might require them to be in a rehabilitation center. Teens are vulnerable to this, just like you said they copy whatever they see on social media without knowing the implications and consequences of it.

What did you say? "gambling addict", and I hope you know the meaning of "addict" right?

Well, the truth if the matter is that, if we are talking about those who are already addicted to gambling, it's important for us to know what with their experiences in gambling, they or most of them already know that gambling is not the way for them, or an escape rout from poverty, but the major problem for them is that, they have become addicted to gambling and even if they are not getting any value for the money they spending on the activity and wants to stop, they discover they can't stop because, gambling is something their brain have gotten so used and attached to.

This is why is always advised that gamblers should try as much as possible to gambling in moderation, put limits that will ensure that addiction to the game does not come close, for addiction is a very bad sickn3ss.
Simply we can say we're not in their shoes, we don't really know the why they think and how they always fall to gambling. Not to mention we have different background and responsibilities, a sandwich generation is suffering and always thinking how to make money in his life.

We're not even graduated or mastering psychology, so we don't really know the behind reason why they can do that and the solution to recover from addiction.

The people that are more vulnerable to being addicted to gambling are poor and middle class people and I assume we know the reason why it's so. In the world's population, majority of people are poor and suffering and out of those poor individuals, there's a large population who are into gambling and their reason is to see a financial breakthrough, that's why they get addicted because they believe that gambling can easily earn them a quick cash, which is why they are vulnerable. Although I don't have any data to back of my claim but I know that the number of rich people in the world who are gamblers are not much compare to non rich gamblers.

It is a well known fact that most poor people are way to much vulnerable to gambling addiction and I don't blame them from a certain point of view, the society, the government has not done quite a lot for them that they have reside to this venture called gambling and we all know how dangerous that is. Even middle class can fall into this although lower in number than poor people these can fall in even deeper addiction as these type of persons are trying to come out from the middle class sector and are fighting to become rich in a fast way and this is in my opinion the most vulnerable group of all when they hit the lows of gambling addiction. In rich people I have seen addiction in very very few people to not say that I have not seen it anywhere where I live or under my friends and colleagues.

I understand but no matter what, gambling is not usually the way out because it could still contribute to one becoming more worse. If any gambling addict have a rethink and focus that energy into something better, they could even do better than just taking gambling as the only way out of poverty.

It’s true, we know that gambling is easier to access today than ever and that convenience is letting more people in. But with that accessibility comes a risk for some more than others especially for those more susceptible to addiction and one of them is me. Who is at the greatest risk, maybe the answer isn’t always obvious, but certain groups are very clear.

people who are financially struggling often find themselves at risk and for them, gambling might seem like a quick fix for their money problems, and the potential for a big win can be tempting. Unfortunately this can lead to a dangerous cycle as they often chase their losses hoping to win back what they have lost. But this pursuit can quickly turn into a deeper addiction. And it’s what also happened to me even with my knowledge about all this.

While understanding these risks helps us keep an eye on ourselves and also the people besides us. Knowing who is most at risk can be the first step in catching harmful habits early on.

Those who struggle with everyday economic and financial problems often complain that their situation makes them very vulnerable to gambling. Desperation has made them narrow-minded and makes gambling a place to answer all the economic and financial problems they experience.

Alternatively, the thoughts of financial problem as a helping hand to their vulnerability in gambling can be changed. If only they stop to accept in them that casinos were built to fix lack of money in the fastest way. As unfavorable as it may be to approach gambling in such a mode, the player could develop mental stress when the fast means begin to take a little more longer.

Here in the US casinos work hard to get you addicted. Free drinks and comped rooms are common at physical casinos, across the country. Have a buddy who always had a free room at our fav casino in St. Louis because he typically always lost more than he gained, so comped rooms are a “we are sorry. Here’s a gift”
They do this so that their customers don’t feel like they’ve lost any money basically canceling out the one they’ve lost by gifts/bonuses/promos. It’s like you can’t even escape because you would want to use those gifts on the casino. Usually it’s some free stuff that allows you to do anything in the casino, right?

It’s easy to assume how someone with a lesser mental capacity can be fooled and lured in by casinos again and again.

Gambling is a lot easier to access now than before. So it is no surprise if more people find themselves gambling. Unfortunately, not a lot of us can be responsible enough to prevent ourselves from falling into deep addiction. This probes the question, who are the most vulnerable to falling into a gambling addiction?

We already know that less privileged people are more prone to getting addicted to gambling with the involvement of financial reward. They are the ones chasing more wins because they actually need the money. The more money they get, the deeper they get into the addiction.

Another demographic that is more likely to get addicted to gambling are adolescents. Adolescents are aged 12-18. The rise of online casinos made way to more kids getting access into gambling. It is said that male adolescents are the ones most recorded to have ended up addicted in gambling. Their addiction is usually associated with sports  and mobile games betting.

Lastly, the most vulnerable to falling into a gambling addiction are those already suffering from pre-existing mental conditions. About 4% of people being treated for substance use also have gambling disorder, as do nearly 7% of psychiatric inpatients and up to 7% of people with Parkinson’s disease. An estimated 96% of people with gambling problems have at least one other psychiatric disorder.

I am sharing this to raise awareness so more people are aware whether they fall under these categories I mentioned and may have high chances of becoming a gambling addict. Let’s keep ourselves informed and in check. Not only ourselves but our loved ones as well.

Youth :adolescents are the least vulnerable by a million miles. As I’ve stated before recently kids don’t have money for the most part, and or if they do, they are much more likely to spend it on a bottle of Vodka or a bag of weed (this is very much so the case in the U.S., obviously other parts of the world aren’t so liberal and you could be hanged for drinking or smoking weed (which is absolutely insane, and if you live in a place like that, keep fighting for change!).

Middle aged men with a little bit of money tend to be for sports betting.  Seniors and middle aged people of less privilege (less education/ lower intelligence if we are being honest)for slots , scratch offs, and in person casinos.

Those who struggle with everyday economic and financial problems often complain that their situation makes them very vulnerable to gambling. Desperation has made them narrow-minded and makes gambling a place to answer all the economic and financial problems they experience. but as we know, instead of being able to answer all the economic and financial problems they experience, this only makes them fall deeper into the valley of hardship and misery.

and seeing statements like this, of course it makes us think why the lower middle class are more vulnerable to gambling compared to the rich, even though the rich have a lot of money. This can happen because those who have financial freedom are more likely to understand the value and risk of money better. Because they know very well that if they risk the money they have to gamble, it is the same as wasting the money they have for nothing, for something they are not sure they will get. Meanwhile, on the other hand, they are used to investing in assets that can be predicted or at least the risk can be managed. They have wider access to be able to make a profit. and one reason that makes them plunge into the world of gambling, they are only trying to find pleasure and sensation, not to make a profit.

The most vulnerable are those in the middle class or poor category, these are the people that get affected the most whenever they lose a bet. Someone like drake can lose 100 thousand dollars countless times but it wouldn't mean anything to him, you can't say the same about someone that's trying to step up in life or someone that's poor. People that are poor are likely to get negatively affected by gambling. The poor are the most vulnerable, a poor man can lose all he has today and might not have anything for the next 4 months, this is why most people say gambling is for the rich.

Generally I would say that anyone who by virtue of chance of spending more of their time in to gambling than any other thing or activity are more prone and vulnerable to gambling addiction in irrespective of your social stratification and age bracket but yeah undoubtedly those who have less activities that fetch them money tend to engage themselves more in to gambling with the aim of winning a jackpot that will change their financial status with such mindset at every point in time they have money the next thing that comes to their mind is gambling, and with the such mindset of gambling to maximize profits other than fun, even when they are losing they keep chasing losses and ends up being addicted.
I think I totally with your opinion on the subject matter and that's because it shares similar views with mine. One of the main reason why some people become to addicted to gambling is because of lack of self contentment which is why you sometimes see gambling addicts that were once very rich before addiction to gambling ruined their life.
That being said, I think less busy and poor people are more vulnerable to become addicted to gambling because they lost times engage in gambling as a means of running away from boredom and depression which is caused by not engaging in any meaningful thing and not being able to afford basic needs.

The most vulnerable people who are at risk of falling for gambling addiction are always going to be the young male population who has suffered from mental and financial problems. I am talking about those males who are between eighteen and thirty years old who are novice within the world of gambling and are unaware of the system which is used by casinos to be profitable in the long term. They could find way a way to escape their bad reality and the burden of their mental health through engaging in gambling, specially gambling on the internet, which is easily accessible and cheaper to get into, from there, if they get addicted to it, all becomes a bottomless spiral of disappointment and financial struggles beyond their initial views on gambling.
That is why there is be more emphasis about keeping young males from approaching casinos and gambling websites if they suffer from depression and anxiety.
