No-one who is not in your contacts. If you add someone to contacts or they search you by number - they can add you.
Try experimenting with a friend or get a sim-card to try it out yourself if youre not sure.
By the way, if you don't want to use your own number - there's a number of services online that rent numbers for a fee, sometimes just for a short time.

I think we need to work for this because i also need this.
I think everyone that message you on the app can see your phone number
There is no setting to hide the number, the number will already be hidden if the other person is not having your number saved in his phone on first place.
I recently joined Telegram for the first time.
Now I have joined a couple of groups which were promoted on Bitcointalk.
I am not sure if admin or members of those groups can see my user name only or if they also can see my mobile number?
