This would be speculation, but I would think it has to do with the CSFB warning about bitcoin being the "wild west"

These kind of warning make it less likely that consumers will want to buy and use bitcoin as they fear they will get scammed out of their money. If less people buy and use bitcoin then the price will go down

Honestly, who listens to them? If I hadn't been following Bitcoin very closely, I never would have heard about their advice. I do think it's the cause of the price drop, but long term it should have little effect.

My guess: The mining ROI for bitcoin is decreasing for (new?) mining farms. As compared to the past, they have divert more mined BTC to pay the operational bills in whatever local currency. This is currently overriding the commercial dissemination of BTC.

That's could be any reason, but it doesn't seem to be linked to any news? Huh Huh

Holding anyway. Smiley

The price was already unstable and then the US Consumer Financial "Protection" Bureau released a very negative report calling Bitcoin "the Wild West."

This is what I feel is the reason for the recent decline. We may even have further to go.

bottom at 538 in August rising to $1,000 by 2nd week of Sept...there are many more..visit Speculation and while away some time.
HOLY SHIT that's dead accurate within $10 and two days, and it's a prediction made a month ago!

Who is this guy?

There are hundreds (or maybe thousands) of speculations through the forum, it's normal that someone can predict the right price.
It would be surprising if the price will really rise to $1000 in the second week of September Smiley

Hold on, let me link some graph that shows you how much I know about the trends of bitcoin and claim it will be at 0 dollars/10,000 dollars in 5 years.

Come original.

Price goes up, price goes down - you can't explain that. I gave up trying to make sense of the fluctations.

And shouldnt this be in speculation?

Nice chart Cheesy

In my opinion the price is only bouncing and in few weeks we will see over $600 values, but don't quote me on this Smiley

Lately it seems to go down the beginning of the month and bounces back towards the end.

Cheap coins anyway.

Could it be the ethereum folks selling off btc for some fiat paychecks?

(one of many speculative reasons)

the guys selling Ether (currently a vapour product, not even a real altcoin until 2015) for bitcoin last month, have dumped some bitcoin. but now it seem the price is climbing again to retrace back to the resistance point prior to the dump. so 'hopefully' thats the days drama finished with.

Nothing really. People are just getting shaken out, like Dogecoin.
