I think those people who tried destroying the bitcoin are those scammer competitors of bitcoin. They want their own to have many clients so that they are trying to destroy bitcoin for them to get the clients of bitcoin. Bitcoin is quite successful nowadays that's why there are many that are envy to bitcoin so they are trying to do things to destroy bitcoin.

Clearly this subreddit is capable of terrible confirmation bias.  Most of the claims in the article could be made with slightly different statistics and phrasing from Core supporters (could be at tens of thousands from the LN et cetera).

Both subreddits are just weird echo chambers for each side and no one seems to actually interact with the other side except for claiming that they're shills or that they're censoring their respective subreddit.

What's even the point?

There is no specific entity to blame for the 'destruction' of Bitcoin, I believe that everyone is equally responsible. If Bitcoin wants to survive and prosper past this the constant in-fighting, insults and personal attacks coming from both sides of the debate has to stop.
In addition to this, the constant sensationalism on Reddit in regards to this is embarrassing. I feel like I'm reading a tabloid newspaper, not a supposed means to discuss changes and news (both economical and technical) regarding Bitcoin.

That`s why i don`t read and don`t use Reddit anymore.
There are countless conspiracy theories about the destruction of bitcoin during the last 3 years.
Is bitcoin destoryed?Nope...

Conspiracy theory is just made to destroy BTC. It was created by person who are strongly against BTC. This is the common tactics on market competition so that their might still the fame of bitcoin in the crypto world. So far, there is no conspiracy theory are already happened except for prediction that commonly happened just like certain dump on price.

You could have see many trollers who aganist bitcoin in this forum also. Just don't care about those people and make your way clear about bitcoin. It is the best source for world wide payment in future and will give tough competition to Paypal, WU and international exchanges.

I think not only one people are destroying bitcoin because there is a lot of people doing that like the alternative cryptocurrencies supporters or the people who got a huge loss in bitcoin market, they are all destroying bitcoin aside from the popular ones. I think this kind of bashing for bitcoin is not a new one because back in the when bitcoin experienced a huge dump on the price there is a lot of people talks about bitcoin and said that it is already dead.

a single entity can't destroy the coins, the title is misleading, bitcoin last time i've checked is decentralized for a reason, to avoid trusting someone who cna disrupt the entire project

if then there are people that work together to force the consensus on certain direction, they will end up with their own fork, roger and other have no power here, only exchange decide and miners to an extent

each time I see things like this I say poor new members who want to start using bitcoin! they come here, it is full of the same spam, they go on reddit, r/rbitcoin is filled with how /r/btc is ruining bitcoin and full of lies and deceit and they go on /r/btc and see there filled with how /r/bitcoin is ruining bitcoin and full of lies and deceit!

and I sometimes see someone asking a basic question and their comment goes to page 3 because everyone is busy upvoting and fighting over pointless arguments that helps no one.

and all this time bitcoin network is under heavy attack and miners are enjoying the high fees.

so in short thanks everyone from both sides for creating this situation Tongue

In my opinion all these scammers are destroying the bitcoin.
It makes people afraid and they so not want to have anything in common with cryptocurrencies

but bitcoin is not becoming stronger as compare to its previous position, because the users of  bitcoin are increasing from time to time. which is makijng bitcoin more stake, i think it is very difficult to fullfil the importance of bitcoi, therefore in future we can expect  bitcoin will  become more stronger than any other currency of the world and hope that it will remain as stable in future also.

Reddit is always like that.  Any illusion of meaningful discussion on there fades after a couple of years and some real controversy (on all subreddits, not just the Bitcoin and BTC subreddits in civil war).

It's basically the case everywhere.  It really is hard to find a good discussion when anyone could post bullshit and people are more likely to believe them than the quiet clever people that they don't understand.  Same reason that people decide not to vaccinate their kids or think that the earth is flat.

Whether someone is destroying or the other is defending even if some other people are of the opinion is a conspiracy theory, one thing I know is that, the total number of people involved involved in bitcoin that do not understand the technicalities of how things work, outweighs the ones in the know of the technicals like this. And if they all succeed in pushing out those people with their bickering among themselves, I wonder what they will have left to fight over.
Whether someone understands the technicality isn't actually that relevant because "technicality" is extremely subjective.  It would be condescending to people to pretend that they're above everyone else because not understanding technicality means that you shouldn't be able to have a strong opinion - people who do understand it change their views and have different views to other people all the times and often both sides have at least an ounce of reason.

I know you'd love to think there's censorship everywhere, but the claims here just make no sense.  The article even thinks that theymos is censoring the forum, but shockingly you posted this right now and it hasn't been taken down.

Quote from: what the hell happened to the subreddits
suppressing Bitcoin's market cap, so that alt-coins are catching up

-SegWit marks an increase in transaction capacity.  If it was accepted, the Bitcoin network would be able to handle the amount of transactions people try to send on it, at least for now.

-Bitcoin's price has gone up dramatically recently.  Altcoins do not "catch up" to Bitcoin, they just rise.  Cryptocurrencies overall are strong right now, and 50 percent is a totally meaningless number as it doesn't actually mean that one altcoin has overtaken Bitcoin's market cap.

-Cryptocurrencies are separate to Bitcoin and how they perform, especially Ethereum and Monero for example, is only partially linked to how Bitcoin performs.

Quote from: the other subreddit is annoying too
suppressing the price to the $1000s, when it could easily be in the $10,000s by now
This is based on two incorrect assumptions:

Transaction capacity = transaction volume, and transaction volume = Bitcoin transferred.

An increased transaction capacity doesn't actually mean that Bitcoin would be used for that many transactions yet as for small transactions it still has higher fees than credit card services like Visa and is less convenient.  People are very conservative with their money, they don't put it into a decentralised network straight away.

Also, if more people were transferring Bitcoin because of the lower fees, they would be transferring smaller amounts as it would be more practical to do so.  Therefore the amount of money that goes into Bitcoin would not increase as much as the transaction volume might and the price would not rise to 32 times what it is now (or not even close).

So their 'truth' is that SegWit is only needed to keep AXA alive: "AXA is the 2nd most imporant fiat finance company in the world. AXA would go bankrupt if Bitcoin scales on-chain."

Bitmain with their ASICBoost has nothing to to with it, right?

If you think that big money is not influencing both sides of scaling war you are a naive dreamer. But I will still trust Core more than Bitmain.

The unfiltered truth was already explained by Andreas Antonopoulos in a couple of lines:

If anyone is destroying bitcoin, is Bitmain and George Soros types like Roger Ver pushing their agendas via buggy software.

Sorry /r/btc, game's over.
