I don't know who's to blame in this case, but i think we need the real decentralized foundation just like Linux Foundation Roll Eyes

The beauty of BTC is we dont really need any foundation. People is prone to corruption, but the magic is the Bitcoin protocol it's impossible to corrupt. The Bitcoin foundation being corrupt only shows how much we need Bitcoin itself and nothing else.

Every single past board member - none of them has ever done anything notable to follow the original principles and ideals that the TBF was meant to fulfill. TBH I always felt they focused they're attention on quick cash grabs by presenting themselves as the premier avenue for improving Bitcoin - of which the funds were never well spent due to a mixture of incompetence and ignorance.

How many of the board members of the Bitcoin Foundation over time have been convicted criminals?

To be fair, that was to be expected.  If you erect a Foundation for government to latch on to, they're bound to use it against you eventually.

Bitcoin FTW!
We heard Janssens outburst, we read the foundations retaliation. Who's to blame with Bitcoin Foundation's present situation?

a. Olivier Janssens

b. The incumbent Board Members

c. the members

d. Bitcoin

If many members are shady and are accused of bad things... in short... you can blame anyone, whole organization, and thats how it is

They did it to themselves.

I couldn't agree more. It's unbelievable to imagine how much some of the members were getting paid, considering this was a non-profit foundation.

Whoever spent all their money's to blame?

Yep. Bitcoin isn't to blame for sure. I just think it's the way the organization is and runs. There's too many people vying for power and when you can easily buy your way into it it's always going to bring in the corrupt members who are just there for their own business interests and complications will ensue.

The bitcoin foundation is pointless IMO. They bitcoin users themselves should vote and decide major decisions, crowdfund  bitcoin for the developers that work on the bitcoin core. Foundations will always be corrupt since they are run by a handful of people. The whole bitcoin community should be the foundation that makes the decissions.

+1 Very well said!!

Was Satoshi ever linked to it in any way? He vanished long before I took an interest in Bitcoin and I don't know how long TBF has existed for.

They just misused his name.

TBF allows scammers to be silver/gold members and did nothing to promote bitcoin.

TBF was founded by scammers. They violated their own by-laws from the very beginning. And declared Satoshi as one of the founders.

The problem is that TBF is a centralized solution around a decentralized software, there will be problems forever.  We need to rely on zero leadership idealy but doesnt seem like its possible anytime soon.

First, majority of the blame should be slapped to the  incumbent board members.
Second, Janssens should also be blamed.

Problems of the foundation shouldnt be publicized. Deal with it inside the foundation.

The foundation is irrelevant. What we need is a bitcoin chamber of commerce type of organization. One that actually assists bitcoin businesses and one that actually does outreach and works for the good of bitcoin rather than selling over priced memberships that give credibility to some of the shadiest people and businesses in the bitcoin world.

Satoshi is rolling in his grave. #bitcoin
TBF does not represent the bitcoin community. The board members are a group of power hungry businessmen who wants a name in the bitcoin community. TBF allows scammers to be silver/gold members and did nothing to promote bitcoin. They are to blame for their own mess.

"TBF does not represent the bitcoin community." - True , but still there are many people that think they do, because their lack of knowledge, or just by asumptions.
So its concerning for us as a community also whats happening to TBF.

@op its their own fault, i mean what kind of financial strategy is to spend that kind of money on secretary, and god knows what else they did.
They need professional financial manadgement if they are to represent even remotely bitcoin core development.

cheers

I think they're pretty much all to blame (except the most recent members, maybe).

They all knew what was going on and chose to ignore it. maybe even chose to follow a direction that would bury them further.

Anyways, we probably don't need them, and who's to blame isn't a big priority now. They should just dissolve the foundation and end all this crap talk Cheesy
