When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?
bitcoin is the very first coin in the market that has massive marketcap until now, so for me it's not surprising why alts usually follow bitcoin when there's a declined in the market.

and yes sometimes there's an event that most of them (alts) fall even more during the situation. And perhaps its because converting alts into bitcoin while bitcoin is making correction is a good idea than keep holding alts during the dip.

Bitcoin is the leader among cryptocurrencies, and its price movements can affect market sentiment, and many altcoins will depend on the Bitcoin price to move.

Think of it this way. When the price of bitcoin starts to fall, altcoin holders see this as an opportunity to buy bitcoin at cheaper price. Hence they start selling their altcoins and invest them in bitcoin. So the price of altcoin starts to crash even more while the price bitcoin doesn't drop as much as altcoins. When the price of bitcoin starts to increase, they buy back their altcoins at the cheaper price hence maximizing their profit. There are cases where the price of altcoins doesn't increase even when bitcoin increases. This is because people move their focus from altcoin when they see the price of bitcoin go up.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?

Bitcoin is the mecca of cryptocurrency itself.
It's no stranger, for predictors they always see the movement of bitcoin before buying their favorite altcoin.
Bitcoin as the main cryptocurrency of course has a much higher volume than other altcoins so it can be taken into consideration.
So that cryptocurrencies are balanced when altcoins follow the movement of bitcoin, I assume after bitcoin flies,
the volume in bitcoin will go partially into altcoins so they follow bitcoin to fly.

When you are the King, everyone should follow.  Cheesy
It became the basis of both investors and traders for movements to happen. If every investor has the same perspective then, they are selling at the same time which causes a wave on all altcoins they possess.
Everything will be sold for a stable coin automatically whenever Bitcoin moves down for securing the value.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?
The opposite fluctuations have made many investors nervous. Many people often assume that an increase in the price of Bitcoin will definitely have a positive impact on the price of altcoins. However, this did not happen. Many times, we have seen alternative cryptocurrencies move in a direction that is disproportionate to Bitcoin price movements. This is a time when investors mostly rely on the trend of BTC to judge the future of the market, and that is part of the reason why alts will be difficult to grow at this stage.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?
I think that if you were crypto adopters since last year and you may familiar with this. Altcoins are usually following bitcoin caused by altcoins used bitcoin as a way to determine its price. Remember that bitcoin already paired with so many stable tokens and then bitcoin has become a standard for the altcoins to follow the trend. Bitcoin is also making almost all of altcoins will always follow it.
The history was also playing a lot in this case. People know that bitcoin was the first crypto and the price started with bitcoin. I meant crypto priced caused by bitcoin and then altcoins got introduced after bitcoin already available in the market.
That's why bitcoin is widely affecting the price of altcoins. There are also another variables that are giving huge impact to the bitcoin.

Here's what I observed all these past few years,

Bitcoin pumps -> altcoins dump (rare)
Bitcoin dumps -> altcoins dump
Bitcoin sideways -> altcoins pump
Bitcoin pumps -> altcoins pump

If you really observe these behaviors of Bitcoin and altcoins, you will see some of these cases. When Bitcoin before is still below $10,000, you will see when Bitcoin pumps, altcoins dump, there are lot of cases like that before.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?

Because bitcoin is the founding leader of all coins. It covers most of the market capitalization of entire crypto currencies though it is flank by many competitors. Bitcoin dominates and almost all of the Alts are typically measured by bitcoin. If new coins are listed, it's either BTC or Eth paired, that is why when BTC rises, most of the coins rise too.

In some parts of the world, where you can't purchase other alts with Fiat, so you buy BTC first to buy that certain alt, and it applies the same when you want to cash it out to fiat. Good thing in my country we can do it in some few alts, directly with no need to trade for bitcoin. Somehow Bitcoin became a median between alts and fiat in some cases.

Altcoins are exist out of bitcoin. This means altcoins are like part of bitcoin. This is how the market is being made at the beginning, because bitcoin slowly gained acceptance and altcoins weren't of big importance. Following bitcoin the market began to experience change, and this change began to have impact over the bitcoin.

The bitcoin market used to be bullish whenever there is good inflow from altcoins and turn bearish when funds were moved towards altcoins. Apart from this top order altcoins mostly move in the direction of bitcoin.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?

There are so many dynamics that determine this. But the most important is market domination (Bitcoin domination: 42.4%). When the Bitcoin price falls, not only does the Bitcoin price fall. The value of the all market falls. Markets are driven by the emotions of investors. As investors are affected by this situation, they start a sales wave by acting with fear and anxiety. Thus, when the price of Bitcoin falls, the price of all Altcoins also falls. :)

When you people say that altcoins stays at their level when Bitcoins rises, and it falls when Bitcoins falls, what do you people mean by that? That’s not true. When the market is good, altcoins increases in value, and those of them that doesn’t have a price correlation with Bitcoin goes any price direction regardless of where Bitcoin is heading to. And of course there are events that can have a general effect on the market, and in this case, majority of the coins there is in the market would fall in value.

So, it’s not really like you people say it; you make it seem like altcoins doesn’t even increase in value at all when you say that they stay sane price when Bitcoin goes up and falls when Bitcoin falls lol.

It is no coincidence that Bitcoin movements affect other altcoins. Bitcoin is the forerunner of cryptocurrencies and is quite dominant in the market. From this point of view, altcoins will remain tied to Bitcoin for a long time.

I always thought of it as the USD of cryptocurrencies. They say USD is the strongest currency of all and it also affects the economy of other countries once its value fall. I think the exaggerated news all over different articles is the proof of it.
Bitcoin is almost the same. It is the strongest of all and when it fluctuates, the same goes for altcoins that is being affected by its market. At old times it was not like this, when Bitcoin falls every altcoins pumps up but when stablecoins was presented it became different.

in the crypto world bitcoin is still a role model for altcoins.
whatever happens to bitcoin it will also affect altcoins.
we can see at this time bitcoin is down and all altcoins are following in the footsteps of bitcoin going down.
This happens because bitcoin still dominates the altcoins in the crypto world.
no matter how good the project owned by altcoin is, it will still lose to the decline experienced by bitcoin

Bitcoin is the gold of the web3/blockchain world.

When bitcoin has difficulties, the whole market has difficulties.
This might continue for a while...till market will mature.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?
Because the market cap of bitcoin is huge, it is widely known that the market cap of bitcoin is really high, however those numbers can be deceiving as one coin can be sold for 1 dollar and if it has one million coins as a supply then suddenly it has one million dollars of market cap, which is not true, so the market cap of bitcoin is even higher than what we think, this means that bitcoin has an enormous influence over all the other coins in the market and I do not see this chaining soon at all.

The price of altcoins depends to much on the price of Bitcoin. When bitcoin falls all altcoins falls too.
But a lot of depends how useful is the coin and about it demand in future.

A common question that has been answered several times. You can find the answer in the speculation board:
Why Altcoins fall when Bitcoin Falls
Why do altcoins follow bitcoin?
Why Altcoin prices often follow Bitcoin price
Is Altcoins Follow BTC Rally?
This is mostly the case with well-established altcoins, such as having a strong fundamental influence and other reasons that are worthy of being a long-term investment asset.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?

Because the vast majority of coins are pure speculative objects and have no real use or intrinsic value. Those that have, can always escape the trend of Bitcoin. For example, Ethereum has fallen less than Bitcoin or Waves is even close to the all-time high. In such phases, it's easy to see which project really has a future and investor confidence and which ones are actually just for quick speculation.

When bitcoin rises, the altcoins keep the price and if when the bitcoin falls the altcoins fall even more. Why do altcoins usually follow bitcoin?
The answer is very simple, because "King is only one!" Smiley

The true is, that it is a consequence of the fact that years ago only Bitcoin was known on the market. When the bear market for Bitcoin started, all investors thought Bitcoin was dying and is coming the end of cryptocurrencies, so all market follow Bitcoin price. For many years the market has gotten used to it, this become kind of system and also it is just a kind of tradition right now.
Yeah, Bitcoin is the king in the market, and that’s why it’s majorly the coin that has kept growing over the years while the rest just falls and stay down. Only few altcoins has been able to follow up with Bitcoin and keep up with their growth, just a few of them like Ethereum.

But as for the rest, they just come out to trend for a short time and before you know what’s happening they have all started losing their value and dropping to a low price. And the most annoying of it all is that most of them never makes any move again to increase in value, they all just stay down like that, which is the reason I often avoid investing in these altcoins. Bitcoin alone is already a good choice.
