Its because whole market is red and showing bearish movement. Investors are loosing faith in market and started disinvestment their money from it. This leads to more panic situation in the whole crypt-market and hence BTC as well as Altcoins are also crashing like anything.

I'm sure there's a lot of reasons why they're still dropping in price.  For example last week was NEM hack at Coincheck Japan.  This week includes Facebook deciding to ban all crypto related ads, SEC investigating Arisebank, CFTC / US Regulators subpoena Bitfinex/Tether and many more.  But at the end, in any market, news are just noise, and altcoins just like other commodities must find its own floor before inching or marching upward again.
But the news give a lot of fundamental impact to the market, all of latest down caused by this news. https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitfinex-tether-get-subpoenas-from-us-regulators
There is someone already confirmed if that news is true. as far as i know there is a lot of fud to the crypto. I remember more and more feels panic due to the FUD in a row.
But it will be bounce back again asap. as long as the demand still there.

The way I see it, crypto market has been extraordinarily resilient despite its relatively younger age.  This has market survived a blanket ban from China, Mt Gox, South Korea, US & Singapore restrictions on ICO purchases etc.  If it can survive those, it can survive anything.  Just like the stock market, as long as we're climbing the wall of worries, there isn't much to be worried about except the day-to-day gut-wrenching pain watching the dives.  What to worry about is when there's irrational exuberance in the market or when there's nothing to worry about anymore.  Until then, the bubble hasn't form yet, and I sincerely think the downward pressure is just part of the consolidation phase.

It's really normal, all cryptocurrency dump and pump everyday. But at the moment almost cryptocurrency price are dumping lower as usual cause the downtrend is happening and this downtrend often happen at the middle of Jan every year. A lot of holders are feeling nervouse at the moment but you should know that you still not lose until you sell Smiley

Btc hasnt dropped very much more and it seems like some alts like linda, verge, and electroneum are still dropping how long will it yake for them to rise back up

Some of the token who rises before are now on dump because the hype is already finished and people have get their reward profit from it and they are now continuing selling their holdings. some alternative coins are not dropping and not changing though bitcoin price are falling therefore their USD value also dip.

Actually it is not only the alt coins were dropping but also bitcoin. I was planning to cash out some from my wallet but after seeing the current price of bitcoin I just decided to keep them and wait a little while. I am actually experiencing dilemma in holding my bitcoin since the start of 2018 but I want to believe that this dump are only way to open opportunity for investment and preparations for a more appreciative cryptos.
But I think still there are so many altcoins who price are still increasing, in fact when bitcoin price is usually dumping or become stable in such situation altcoins price start increasing and same is the case in current time, we can see some altcoins whos price is continuously increasing. But very soon when bitcoin price will get accelerator then people will convert their investment from altcoin to bitcoin.

I think main reason to altcoins dropping is dropping of bitcoin.and I also think this is a very hard time for cryptocurrency field.facebook bans all cryptocurrency adds and day by day some governments are banning cryptocurrency.

If Bitcoin goes up, altcoins go down. If Bitcoin goes down, altcoins go down.  Cheesy

According to the situation on the market, I can say that now there is a correction, soon it will end, and there will be growth of altcoyins.

One of the reason why cryptocurrency coin is because the whales are cashing out almost all their crypto to start a panic and suddenly if the price drops dramatically. They will buy buy little by little with out noticing it and once they already get the amount they need, they will pump it again and the bull run will start again.

Well, having this on the current market situation. I think this is normal. You need to wait for few more months for the cryptocurrencies to rise and shine and again. We know that there's always time for everything. A little more patience is required especially in this circumstance.

The market has not recovered yet since the holidays. Many invested for a short time. And the date of this short period was exactly the beginning of 2018. Therefore, everything will return to normal, the code will reach the balance. Of course I would like the balance to be at high price positions. But let's see what will happen in the spring.

There is also the fact that over the past few months, the amount of Crypto "traders" practically doubled and the newcomers who were use to such great trading conditions are now extremely volatile and aren't helping stabilization.

There has been a constant stream of FUD lately. But im not sure why its been taken so badly. Regulations for icos and exchanges. I dont see a problem with that and im not sure why anyone else does. Some exchanges have disappeared with all cash , some ICOs have done lots of talk and then no work, gone with the money.how is that a good thing. Keep above 500 M market cap and let more innovation take place - we need to see results for the market cap.

I think because there are too many fake news circulating and make many people panic and sell it so as not to lose much. I hope everything will be back to normal soon
