First off I admit staying away from Politics either way, so I don't really post here myself.

But I've noticed the majority of threads are threads and opinions by one single person.

Is it because most of us don't post here or is this an agenda? Cheesy

I think it's because the guy is just one super-active guy. He does a lot of research and he posts his findings/questions in the politics section.

Lol.. this is the second thread I am seeing here, complaining about Wilikon dominating the sub-forum. (The first one was posted by some noob a few months back). I took a quick look at the active threads. Out of the 40 threads on the first page, some 11 were started by Wilikon. That is just 27.5% of the threads, and no way near the majority as claimed by prettybuds.

But I've noticed the majority of threads are threads and opinions by one single person.

Yeah, but damn that's a lot for one person!  Having said that, I don't frequent the politics & society part of bitcointalk much anymore.  I'm interested in bitcoin, and I've never been interested in politics OR society.  Both of them can go gargle a sausage for all I care.

When I was reading P&S occasionally, I did find the postings about conspiracy theories to be interesting, but I've had my share of idiotic arguments on Youtube videos and such, and I'm not into debating stuff with lunatics anymore.

You poked at a dynamic that is important to me in context to bitcoin and I know a lot of people careless. Politics is was brought me to bitcoin in hopes we could change the world, for that reason it is one of my favorite forums.
Think if there was more discussion we could shape bitcoin back to the early days, rather than stating its open and therefore dictated by the people driving bitcoin into regulation for personal gain.
Different strokes for different strokes, like you could guess meta is more in line with those that want profit over societal change. But thats a debatable aspect, more maybe my perception.
No disrespect intended, my friend.  If everyone was the same, it would be a goddamn awful boring world.  A lot of people enjoy politics and talking about the state of the world.  It's not my thing but I respect it all nonetheless.

Didn't visit the politics section for a while but today I would say that it is a total anarchy there,  wouldn't bother checking all the topics but when I visited few of them, I noticed that the OP is bumping his topic like 4 successive times in 1 hour, this isn't allowed and could lead to a temp ban... Wili stop breaking the rules (btw i don't care about your political choice since all the politicians should be in jail imo)...

Are you reffering to this yahoo?
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/sweminer777-521755

I reported him because his ramblings where making no sense. He is a troll that alters his posts after the discussion is well under way,so I just stay clear but he seems to want to be banned or something with his 6 posts of psychosis earlier today.

The way I look at this section is you need to balance the racist and religious propaganda and posting something that you are interested in can change the direction away from the individuals with agendas. So choosing not to post is in my opinion allowing bigotry and hate run amok in the forum and I prefer to counter it.
You do care about politics you just are not aware of the day to day minutia of every day life that correlates to it.

@evildrum: i am talking mainly about wilikon and I would make an appeal to everyone to report such behaviour against the forums rules especially in the politics section (where you only smell the hate, racism...etc of bad things).

Yep - got to agree with your observation.

Look how the mass media work - a) appeal to the lowest common denominator, and then b) give it a subtle spin.

Maybe those that don't share the worldview of Wilikon should go about it the same way ? It could be like The Sun vs. The Daily Mirror  Wink

It would mean, of course, that you are having to blitzkrieg 10 to every 1 of his posts (in much the same way that he does yours), and that you would therefore have to quit your day job to find the time.

You may lack the motivation to do so, but then again, what price can you put on the power of propoganda ?

I personally (and I'm a UK citizen) am finding that I don't visit this section so often. In fact, IMO its gone down hill even over the short period that I've been a member here.
If I were a member of the general public looking here for some kind of intelligent discourse from intelligent crypto types on socio political matters, I reckon I'd move on TBH.

Sorry to Wilikon in advance if you are genuine - but you can come across like you are (a) paid (shill).

You should never be sorry for what you believe... Ever.

Why are the Politics Forums dominated by Wilikon's Opinions?

They're not. The things he says are mostly truth. He wisely avoids saying things that are only his opinions.

Cool

EDIT: Maybe he's a woman.

Yeah... You wish...

About what? You as a woman? Or a woman being wise?

It is not for me to judge you or your fantasies...

Most people are not willing to put themselves out in any way that could cause some backfire of disagreement of views or misunderstandings. Its to bad more people do not post to make the forum more colorful rather than what we have when the main 5 posters are not posting and thats usually religious or hateful propaganga. This makes it appear as bitcoin followers are coming from a certain lean and that is not the case.
The loudest bark is not always the most popular view either,so it pushes people to think for themselves, rather than open thread and take it for face value.

I don't think it's either one of them. The user posts things that spark interest and get discussions going. The fact that you don't dabble in politics, which is a good thing, cannot serve as an explanation as to why others do.

I love bitcoin and what it will become, way after we are all gone... I mostly update my own threads (some of them very old) and I always remember I am a guest on the bitcointalk.org forum.

Ideas exist to be defined and talked about.

Most of my threads are not my opinions, but constructs I want to share with you. I do not have to like what I share, but I can't be afraid to share them and you should not be afraid to participate.

I realize time is precious, so I appreciate all of you replying, even though some of you believe you mark some kind of internet virtual points by insulting me  Cheesy

So no, Po&So is not dominated by my opinions but dominated by how people across the world want to define the world, reshape the world, and keep others from having their own opinions of the world...

Po&So, 3 years ago was all about the jooos this, the jooos that. Bitcoin is antibank = banks are controlled by banksters = banksters are jooos = bitcoin is fighting the jooos. That was unreal and sad.

I am glad I am doing my part to make the world a better, bigger place, one update at a time...

A great reply, the notion that there can be a common world perspective, is a fantasy, the magic of the internet is that we have a medium to share our unique perspectives without them being filtered. This enables us to grow and come to share common values, through appreciating other perspectives and overcoming our own fears and prejudices, in the process we will make the world a better place. If not for ourselves we at least owe it to those who come after us.
