True story most of the questions are one line posters who generate 100+ pages of spam and paid signature people who are probably making the original thread.

As this section is intended to discuss stuffs related to bitcoin and there are many bitcoin users who have very good amount of experience as well as many new comers who like to understand bitcoin and start using it, from countries where english is not their native language. So for non-native english speakers, asking question or answering questions in english may be hard but they can write quite understandable english for sure except few who are very poor in english.

Because this is the only part of the forum that signature campaign managers allow spamming with terrible English. It requires pretty much minimal English ability to respond here, and as everybody knows, this is the home of signature campaign spammers. Honestly, it's not worth posting here even if you have an honest opinion about something, because the spammers will drown you out in a few minutes.

Says the guy with the Rollin signature. ^smile^ For your information, most other forums on anything else, has the highest posts in the "general area" dedicated to open & free discussion on the topic. So it would just be logical that you will have a higher concentration of threads in that section of the forum.

The Signature campaign managers will obviously target that area, because they will get the highest exposure for the product or service they are advertising. Just ask the forum owners to provide you with a report, to show where the most activity is on any forum, and you will find that it would be in the general discussion area. ^smile^

I hosted many forums before, and all of these advertisers ask the same questions. < Maximum exposure >

English is not an easy language for people, we must understand it. perhaps English is the main language of some members of this forum. we judge that which is written almost the same it is a farm account.

There are good questions that debate on bitcoin philosophies, bitcoin tech developments and legal issues surrounding bitcoins. But these questions are very technical in nature and requires specialized knowledge in answering those questions -- and the answers can be boring to the casual bitcoin user.

Englishes are very much hard languagues for peoples in no englishes talking countries.

It's easier to spam with questions than with thoughts/opinions, the latter require more input, knowledge and explanation, while questions don't.

Totally agree with your comment, as question dont need to explain and reply need to be inputted with more details about the questions, and which is hard for all users to answer it.

there is always the "tom8o tom@o" debate that proves even Americans are not 'proper' English linguists

They say American English is closer to Olde English than what comes out of British mouths. However I predict that within 40 years we will all be speaking Google Translate. That's far more effective than Newspeak in controlling our thoughts because it turns them into incomprehensible garbage.

You cant blame the forum for it is international. Look at the local boards and you have your mind blasted with how they write. Different languages which are just translated with google translate that is why it is a mess.

Well as far as this part of forum is concerned its because its because this is defined as "bitcoin discussion" so if we take the literal meaning almost anything about bitcoin can be posted here so anyone who is in doubt where to post he just posts here. And about the English as said by other people alot of countries dont have English as their first language so not everyone is perfect.

The low quality posts are a result of account farming and abuse of signature campaigns. For many people in developing countries, the income that can be generated from signature campaigns is a significant source of income. Therefore these people are highly motivated to make frequent posts. Since most signature campaigns don't pay for post in the local boards, these people post in the main forum even though they don't have the necessary language skills.

I think, it's very important that signature campaign managers adhere to a minimum quality standard and deny payment for low quality spam. From my point of view, signature campaigns are generally a good thing, because it helps spreading Bitcoin to people that have no easy access to it. By distributing money, sig campaigns also foster economic activity within the community.

However by allowing low quality and barely understandable posts the forum is becoming less attractive. Therefore moderation should be more strict regarding such kind of low quality posts. I would also support the re-opening of the "newbie-prison" we once had, since there is also an increasing number of pure spam posts by brand new members in the main section.

ya.ya.yo!

On the other hand, if your sub-forum for your language with it's 2000 regular posters are unable to answer your questions... you would

naturally move to a section of the forum, where your question will get much more exposure. { Currently the English Area is the most

popular } So if you want a quick answer, you skip your native language area and post in the English section.  Roll Eyes

"English" (very loosely termed) is only native to:
the UK
north American continent
Australia

total combined populations (~420mill)

English as a first language is spoken by far less people then you think

for instance China alone have 1,380m people speaking Chinese, in just one country, compared to ~420m
for instance India alone have 1,320m people speaking Indian, in just one country, compared to ~420m

and if we really should get knit-picky,
there is always the "tom8o tom@o" debate that proves even Americans are not 'proper' English linguists
there is always the "get an American hill-billy and a British Scouser into a room" debate and see how easily they talk to each other.

and if anyone replies that we should all speak the Queens English.. um.. i'm sorry to inform you, but even she is German.

by the way i am pure white English born raised and bread with many generations before me.. but even i do not speak with an oxford scholars tongue

the great thing about the English language, is that it is adaptable

This is the main part of the forum, easiest part to find so I guess this is the first plafe people come to post. A lot of the poor quality, badly spelt OP's are done by trolls though on purpose to spam & annoy people.

yes, many abuse the forum for some bitcoins they get from sig campaigns, but if you have something to say or ask you need to do it in english. this is the language of bitcoin. and that is what people do. no matter how bad the english is. i don't think they do it on purpose so bad and just some are so annoyingly stupid that they are not to understand.

Now, look at the local board and how many the total of the local board and tell me how many the country in the local board is not a developed country, and I can assuming the development countries are not familiar with the English.

I would say that's probably what ends up happening, if there were no restrictions you would likely see the local boards being filled with a ton of alts and constant posts and so, and they would likely be even worse quality overall because they would post in their own language and only a few people would be able to tell what they were saying.

depends. if people could post in the areas that really interested them and get paid I think the quality of posts overall would be way higher. people are just filling quotas to get their payout rather than contributing properly and they're scrabbling around for any thread to fill.

I guess the sig campaign managers know what they're doing when they restrict it to certain areas, but maybe they should experiment with a little more freedom. off topic has subjects that might interest everyone and they're all still potential customers.

I think the main reason is that most signature campaigns restrict where you can post and don't pay for the forums where there's actually the most action like alts and the really scummy parts. I guess that leaves people needing to up their post count with inane google translate stuff here.

As such, google translate comes to the rescue for a lot of these people. Which is a shame.
