bitcoin atm is indeed not widely spread in the world, because the legality of bitcoin cannot be comprehensive in this world. I personally have never seen Bitcoin ATM in real time and don't know much about how to use it. hope the next few years in my country there can be a bitcoin atm, I'm sure many new users will come because of their curiosity
There is the legality issue and then there is the issue of higher charges when you are dealing with ATM, many users might use ATM machines because of the curiosity and for boasting to his peers other than that there are many ways to purchase the coins at a much lower rates in exchanges and i consider this as the easiest way of investment and if you comply with KYC then everything is fine.

Indeed. Bitcoin is not widely spread all over the world because the government in every country still haven't legalized bitcoin, that is why you haven't seen bitcoin ATM in your country. I also haven't seen Bitcoin ATM in my country because it is only available on countries that legalizes bitcoin such as US, Switzerland, Canada, UK, and etc. But i think in the future, bitcoin ATM could be seen all over the world due to bitcoin popularity.
In my country, there are no Bitcoin ATM so it is quiet foreign to me how that works really. But we can withdraw our assets in cryptocurrencies by converting it to fiat through the most reputed online wallet in my country and we can withdraw it to a nearby atm or even deposit those fiats in the bank and even in remittance centers.

For me, because of the increasing acceptance of bitcoin, that's why bitcoin ATMs are now widespread. Also, it makes it very convenient for those ppl that are using bitcoin, and also it can attract many ppl to try/invest bitcoin and do some research & study about bitcoin like giving them a curiosity about bitcoin ATM's. I'm looking forward to bitcoin ATMs to entice more investors and to grow this community. Smiley

a widely adaptation of bitcoin in different country makes it as a good business , having a bitcoin ATM machine dealer bussiness will be a hit in the market now, it can be a good demand in each country, and yet it is needed to be secured,we know that ATM machine is kinda tempting for hackers too so it could be very secured, all the keys must be hide to intruders on the software of it.

We don't actually have very many here even though bitcoin is fairly widely supported online. Maybe we do have more I just haven't looked. I know where one is and it is very far away. I have heard that the fees are killer and thus rendering this service useless. That sucks. It is still a good idea. Anything that is bitcoin related can drive bitcoin forward, so all are welcome.

for instance, in vietnam there is no KYC required, but you need a mobile phone and provide your number to receive a code via SMS to proceed or a code to redeem cash.

in europe some BTMs need a phone number as well, but some only give you a printout with a qr code for the receiving address and a time window of 20min to send BTC if you wanna cash out. buying BTC works with QR code scans of your address. i haven't seen any KYC procedures on a BTM yet and wouldn't use one if that would be a requirement.

speaking of vietnam, currently one of the BTM operators is extending their network with +12 new machines.

I have heard of this too that Vietnam is one of the most friendly cryptocurrency related country and while other countries are lagging behind, they are drastically improving on the use of cryptocurrency, but the use of kyc, in an advanced country like Vietnam, do you know that the number required is a kyc on its own.

Because in my country here, for you to be entitled to a mobile number, you must have your data captured with the mobile telecommunication company in which they can use your number to get every details about you when there is need for it, so having your number on their database will make the authority to know every transaction that occurred and during taxing, they will be able to link it to whichever person they want to link it with.

This is proof that the development of bitcoin is progressing and although the existence of bitcoin ATMs has been around a long time but now has been expanded to several countries, and this is also evidence that bitcoin users are constantly increasing and bitcoin is the future.
Bitcoin ATMs make it easy for users to buy or sell digital currency or bitcoin and can deposit cash or transfer bitcoin to other virtual bitcoin wallets and many other functions.

ATMs are one of the most used things that people use when they want to make transactions like depositing or withdrawing money etc. . Bitcoin is too popular now and the number of people that choose to use ATM for their transactions is increasing every day.

Isn't a bitcoin atm basically against the reason it exists? So we don't need to use fiat and now you spending all this money on bitcoin ATM and having to keep it stocked and working when all you really need to do is have merchants accept bitcoin as payment and all they need to do is use a QR code. I am not so certain that using a bitcoin ATM is easier than just getting merchants to accept bitcoin.
It is because bitcoin becoming famous as time goes by because our community is becoming larger also. The more people get to know bitcoin the more investors will come and try investing in here by actually supporting different ICO. It is helpful actually because the more famous the bitcoin becoming is the more possibility that there are lots of investors will come. ATM is the most efficient way to buy bitcoin. Making transaction easy if you want to buy bitcoin and you dont have actually internet that time. But there are still countries that are not adopting the ATM machines buying bitcoin because they not know what are the features of bitcoin.

Bitcoin ATMs are increasing rapidly in our world and this may cause people to increase their awareness of bitcoin. In fact in our country the number of bitcoin ATMs is increasing and it is expected to increase as our central banks support it.

Hopefully the good developments in bitcoin will continue so that other people can see the importance of bitcoin.

Bitcoin ATMs are widely distributed around the world is essential. When Bitcoin is widely used around the world, the need for direct cash withdrawals at ATMs is essential. The condition for opening a Bitcoin ATM station in a country is that Bitcoin is legalized in that country. When Bitcoin ATM reaches out to more people, maybe people will have a better and more realistic view of Bitcoin.
That is why many people are using bitcoin now, people get interested that those traders and investors might love to buy their ATM , this would be a great bussiness for them due to its high demand. But I do not know how much will be the fee per transaction because if it is way higher I will convert my bitcoin to fiat if it is more cheaper.

I looked at a map of btc atms and was shocked to see how many of them there are, especially how many there are in the states.  Never seen one out in the wild but I may have to plan a trip.  The only problem with these atms is the fees and the kyc requirements that I think they make you go through.  I don't necessarily mind paying a reasonable fee for bitcoin at an atm, but I would be worried about what the atm owner would do with a scan of my driver's license.  You just don't know.

They are a sign of increasing mass adoption and it is good to see atms all over the world.  They're really common in some parts of Europe if I'm correct.  On the map I only took a look at north and south America, so I suppose I'll have to look closer.

Bitcoin is getting more attention nowadays which makes Bitcoin ATM a good business option. The more bitcoin gets recognition, the more potential customer are there. It's also a way to help to promote bitcoin to the public.  Although Bitcoin ATMs are increasing, I still haven't seen one in my country. Well I don't know if there is. I think there is but only limited. That's why I haven't seen one in my city.

Largest BTM network in Vietnam
BTMs are good as a bridge between traditional fiat and crypto users and could work for different use cases.
people know how to use ATMs so the experience is already familiar and getting into crypto becomes less complicated for the normal non-tech person.

One of the biggest advantages those machines have for the recognition of Bitcoin as a whole is... - they make it more "real" to the average person who has a hard time to wrap their head around why Bitcoin has value & actual use cases by just reading theoretical stuff about it.

Seeing that big, boxy metal case which spits out physical cash when you send those "virtual" coins to it... - it's like a switch is turned for a whole bunch of people when they experience this the first time.

Last but least of course also: The media love to take pictures of those machines to illustrate their stories. What else are they going to be supposed to use... - the same old handful of stock photos of "physical" Bitcoins or some scary dude in Guy-Fawkes-mask & dark sweater hiding behind his matrix-like screen?

That is of course not a sufficient reason to place the machines, ultimately they need to satisfy a customer demand and bear their costs - but these "side benefits" had been one of the reasons why our mother company had been willing to put resources into building up it's own BTM network.

travelers might also use it for some quick emergency cash for example... they do! Smiley

or there might be a reason why you want to buy crypto quickly and there is no other method near you.

the fees are sometimes high but when you cash out using other methods online and then use a standard ATM they can be the same.
and western union is still more expensive.

sometimes BTMs can be even cheaper and faster to cash out crypto to fiat.

in case fiat disappears one day, BTMs still could be useful for other services, as paying bills or top-up for phones, games etc.
the technology of a BTM could still be useful to do payments on the go for any service.

Largest BTM network in Vietnam
I wouldn't choose to buy Bitcoin from ATMs, because of huge fees and especially because it is more convenient to buy it online, instead of going to an ATM. But I believe it has a good effect on popularization of cryptocurrency as people will start to ask questions and wonder what it is. And the fact it is increasingly widespread is a good news.

The fees are indeed generally higher than purchasing online (operating a BTM comes with quite a bit of overhead costs - location rent; staff salaries to maintain the machine; purchasing broken hardware components etc.) - but there still persists a subset of users who prefers buying their Bitcoins via cash from a BTM rather than transferring money online to an exchange which might have much more thorough KYC restrictions to jump through etc.

Some more reasons why using a Bitcoin ATM might make sense can be found here: https://btm.bitcoinvn.io/faq/why-use-a-bitcoinvn-btm
