They are afraid that people on a certain country will fully switch to bitcoin and with that thing happen problem will arise regarding on implementing tax and thats the time the government will have a very big problem because most people do already have the control on their money unlike on banks which is regulated by the government.
My country has blocked payment by bitcoin. The State Bank of Vietnam asserts that bitcoin and other similar virtual currencies are not legal means of payment in my country; The issuance, supply, use of bitcoin and other similar virtual currency as a means of payment is prohibited.

Bitcoin is not supported in some countries because actually each country have their own policy maybe the government are concerned will many wiping the money or commonly known as money laundering, fair or not that's what we have to face because until now the existence of bitcoin is still not recognized.
Bitcoin involves a lot of transactions. Money transactions. Every country is trying to raise their economy specially nowadays. The government wants to involve in almost all possible money transactions and remittances for them to monitor, control and regulate. If they cannot do it will not help the economy. The government in some countries would rather suggest other form of medium for their transactions instead of bitcoin. It is also possible that because not everyone have knowledge in bitcoin making it useless to them. The government also wants to avoid the possibility that bitcoin can be used for money laundering and scams.
perhaps,it depends each country has rules and laws,respectively.it is a right of every government.I guess today and tomorrow it's accept all countries.
many countries on the world still dont know anything about bitcoin, the percentage of people know how to use bitcoin is very small, so it harder for bitcoin to become more popular on the world. moreover many countries banned bitcoin because they think bitcoin can not be controlled, so it is a good tool to be used by criminals.

I guess they thing that bitcoin will overpower their own currency, thus affecting their economy. Also, the problem is not all people are aware of how bitcoin works and what are the advantages of it. Still, we can't force them if they want to.

I think why it's not becoming mainstream and will struggle to do so is based on how difficult it is to understand the ins and outs of the technology.
There are some countries who don't want a digital currency because they are more focus in the fiat which some countries has a big income from the investors in that particular matter. But when they try to analyse about the bitcoin they will see how big is the help of it financially.
I think in other country where Bitcoin is not supported and it labeled “Illegal” cause they seen as a threat to their economy cause its non taxable.
I think the countries that does not support bitcoin can't see the advantage of bitcoin and using digital currency. But if they will allow the bitcoin to become popular in their country the population of unemployed will be lessen.
Because Bitcoin is not controlled by the government, can not control, will make the national economy affected. Bitcoin also has anonymity, only the owner knows and pays, so the government thinks it is insecure. 
Those countries fear that Bitcoin will make their economy to go down. Also several taxation problems have been their, as people prefer Bitcoin to escape taxes. Possibly when things go digitalized countries will use Bitcoin's technology to make their own digital currency.
A good opinion and I agree with your opinion.Not so much oang do not like to use bitcoin but sometimes from his president who forbade him to use bitcoin because the president sometimes worried with his country in terms of their economy is increasingly degenerated therefore there is a president who banned him and sometimes there are also allowed to use it.

Banco Central de Bolivia issued a resolution to ban bitcoin on the state territory. The announcement on May 6, 2014 was met by its neighbours with surprise, since most of them has already legislated bitcoin. The document in spanish states that it's necessary to protect boliviano, Bolivia's national currency, and also protect its citizens from losing their funds.
