I saw quite a lot of news on this topic on the Internet, but there was no hype among people about this, as it was in 2017, when every second passer-by on the street knew that bitcoin had greatly increased in price and reached a value of 20 thousand dollars. I don't know if this is good or bad, but those who know about this and have the funds to invest in bitcoin have already invested them, such people do not need hype to make their own decisions.

Maybe I just have the wrong impression or maybe it's because of the pandemic that stole all attention but somehow I have the feeling that current Bitcoin price rise over 20000$ didn't get almost any media attention. At least I haven't found any article or news in media in my country, like it's not interesting at all. And it was totally different situation back in 2017 when many media published something about Bitcoin.
I also have the feeling that this time people are more cautious than thrilled and excited.

What do you think, what might be the reason or am I maybe completely wrong?

For sure there were so many articles online about bitcoin reaching and passes the ATH this month, almost every cryptocurrency news website has this kind of news and even here in the forum, it discusses a lot.

Somehow I think a agree when comparing it to the past bull run in 2017, I feel like it is not given a lot of attention compared to the past bull run were almost in every platform bitcoin is really trending.

I guess it's pretty obvious in Good trends, but I guess it's because it's not a trend on other social media platforms.

I am not sure what kind of media you are referring to...probably it didn't get much of attention from big media houses like BBC or CNBC. However, the local medias are exploded with bitcoin related news. Even I have seen many articles in my local news papers about bitcoin and its risk. I wouldn't particularly say that those articles are positive, but media attention is there!

The good part about this bull run is that, even banks in my country rushed to provide banking services to the local exchanges. It has created quite a stir within the local business houses as bitcoin has become a matter of prime time debate. Obviously, COVID takes the highest priority among others, but bitcoin is definitely being discussed in national and local media houses, at least in my country!

Maybe it is just where you live because in my country we are getting a lot of media coverage about this new recent bulls run and now the all time high.
It seems that many people think the original all time high was 20,000 so now that we are at number 24,000 it is not very attractive number.
What I mean is a number like 25,000 or 30,000 maybe brings more attention.  It wont matter long term if price is 100,000.

At least when compared to the 2017 bull run, media coverage has been sparse this time. Media got a lot of flake in 2017, for overhyping cryptocurrency. The bull run lasted only a few months and those who invested at ATH levels were scaring at a loss of 80% after few months. On top of that, there were huge scams such as OneCoin and PlusToken, which further tarnished the reputation of the cryptocurrency.
Compared to 2017 price hype, Bitcoin have established good identity to the media. And credible companies got also involved in adaptation of Bitcoin. 2020 bitcoin pump is different from what 2017 event. The year is still not yet over and we can still expect higher price then maybe a correction will happen. Those who have invested before have already regain their capital only if they persevere to hold their coins.

You can get every day updates on bitcoin in the past 2 weeks when bitcoin tried to break $20,000 and when it broke the cap to increase to almost $24,000. Coolcryptovator is right. I see news everytime I open my browser or visit any media websites. Non-crypto websites are very active to update news on bitcoin. Their writers and editors take the run of bitcoin to get more traffics for their websites.

Google trend chart: https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=bitcoin. The trend is up.

I am wondering how you are missing media coverage. When I am opening my Google chrome browser, it seems I have been notifying a few media news about Bitcoin price. Most likely it's called Google trend, I think since most of my search related cryptocurrency that's why Google detects me as a crypto user and show crypto news on my trend page. However, I am also on the Cointelegraph telegram channel where many articles have been sharing about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Some Twitter handles have also published the bitcoin bull too. There is no way that bitcoin will have such increase and the media will not capture it. In 2017 it was all in the media and tlsince then both the bear and bull have been followed till date as it is with the run.

What do you mean by there is no news about the new ATH price of Bitcoin? Man, there are so many media sites publishing this, maybe you’re going on the wrong places , and there are even a lot of people talking about it, you just haven’t looked the right places. I can tell you for sure that I have seen a lot of big media sites publish about this new high price of Bitcoin, Coindesk is one of the top cryptocurrency news websites and they posted about it.

It’s not only Coindesk, other media sites that published it includes The Guardian, Business Insider, even BBC which is one of the biggest media around the world posted it, so what other publicity do you need? Is it I’ll you see every single person talking about it?

I think you missed a lot since the largest news resources covered this news, especially yesterday, I saw that almost all the media said that Bitcoin broke the price of $ 20,000 and that this is a new breakthrough in digital assets

In my country in Indonesia I found many articles about the increase in the price of bitcoin which was able to reach a new record of over $ 20k. Many well-known news portals publish about the increase in the price of bitcoin and on several economic news programs broadcast on private television stations. But the current news has not attracted enough public attention due to the pandemic issue. try typing in a google search with the keyword "Bitcoin" then there will be lots of the latest news about bitcoin reaching ATH again.

There is a lot of news regarding bitcoin all over the globe and have seen many. While it is true it is not getting as exposure as it should be but that could be due to govs not liking this stuff.

You had just missed it out.The news of Bitcoin breaking 20k had been published out on every crypto and traditional investment websites talking about such breakout.

You cant just feel the essence of a bull run because not the entire market had been hyping out or basically talking about altcoin market too.

Its just out of our attention thats why we can say that this current price movement didnt really give out much noise.

fly or die
Plenty of stuff has skyrocketed or has a price that doesn't make sense this year, so BTC isn't alone, that's why there isn't much mainstream media coverage. For example Tesla, or the Airbnb IPO, neither makes sense.

Also, reputable news outlets have been burned by the crash of BTC last time, they don't want to be seen as advertising for a very volatile, "shady" asset.

Actually I see Bitcoin's current situation on many places. I saw that it was in the trending topics in Twitter too. Bitcoin is not like the other cryptocurrencies. It is the number one in the market and people generally know something about Bitcoin but not much about other cryptos. So, I think it is not much possible to see that people and the media not talking about Bitcoin when the price goes to the moon.

Maybe it's something with your country, or the news outlets that you check, because I do see my local media covering this bull run quite often. And as more retail investors will join in, there will be even more coverage, because it would generate more views, which is the main goal of making news these days. There's no reason to worry about it, we're still very early into the bull run.

The media is all over it... I just saw a piece on my local news about this sudden increase in the price and I also watched a video that was send around on social media about this. There is not a lot of commodities that can emulate a $3000+ increase in such a short time period.

You can bet a lot of money on the fact that a lot of the media are going to call it a Ponzi scheme again and the gears of the media behind our competition are going to spread a lot of FUD to push it down again.  Angry

Let's hope this is not a flash in a pan..... and this rally are going to continue.  Huh Roll Eyes

'Life's but a walking shadow'!
Bitcoin is not just in the news, but in the mouths of many, even those who have never invested or owned any sat, that's what makes the Bitcoin network so interesting, I've been in a discussion with couple of my friends few days back, and Bitcoin was a major part of the discussion, people are curious to know more about Bitcoin at this time more than ever, but what's wrong is most of them are only seeing a get rich quick scheme in Bitcoin.

Having said that, it's great that it's everywhere on the news, since the media mostly covers only the negative side of the network, some good news will bring new users and help in adoption.
