In a forum situation I think people use the avatar of a pic they like rather than a pic they identify with a lot of the time.

Generally, if someone has a beautiful woman as their avatar on here 999.999% of the time they are male. They aren't pretending to be female rather you are hoping they are a lady.

In video games, I always use the female character, if i'm going to spend hours looking at the ass of a character, I prefer it to be female.

After playing WoW for five years, i get that. I guess in never considered a technical forum roleplaying

I tend t think of the person i'm responding to as being their Avatar. I'm sure I've called several guys girls based on their avatars. Are they just trying to confuse me? or are they closet crossdressers? Grin
