I'm not gonna read that whole thread, but gmaxwell has always been a good mod, so if he felt it was necessary to lock the thread then I believe him.

For once, I agree with closing that thread. People clearly didn't read the whole thing before posting or didn't understand what was being said. Gmaxwell putting their foot down and telling people to start a new thread that isn't based on a false premise is exactly what a good moderator in a discussion should do.

As for the rest of this thread, it seems, ironically, entirely off topic?

so you are trying to say this forum does not represent Bitcoin? My guess was it is the official forum to represent Bitcoin? Not anymore?

It's essentially a fan site which has no official endorsement.

like this statement! thinking of putting it into my signature! Cheesy

EDIT: will never ever make a donation to this forum!  Grin

I'm wondering also about the dicussions not to support the Bitcoin Foundation of some members here. they realy don't understand the mind behind Open Source.

You're assuming that there's some kind of commonality of goals in this community, which isn't really true - which is why the setting up of Bitcoin organisations which do have specific goals will ultimately be a good thing.

You have people in this community for whom Bitcoin represents an ideology.  You have others for whom it's simply a low cost payment protocol.  Then you have others who view it purely as a means of getting rich - they don't care whether it's open source, they don't care whether it becomes a viable currency, they don't care about any political ideology.

There's no "one true way" to do Bitcoin.  Bitcoin is just a tool and what it ultimately becomes will depend a great deal on how it's used.

This would have been more funny if the title was "Why do moderators move threads with ongoing discussion."

Isn't it close locked anymore?

You guessed wrong.  It was deliberately separated from bitcoin.org because it's not any kind of official representative of Bitcoin.  It's essentially a fan site which has no official endorsement.

yeah, it helps to explain some events in the past and also the mood here. I'm wondering also about the dicussions not to support the Bitcoin Foundation of some members here. they realy don't understand the mind behind Open Source.

What is the relation of the involved persons in this forum to the Bitcoin Foundation?

And what are their personal dealings with Trendon Shavers aka pirateat40?

Were they involved in the mail fraud scheme that Sonny Vleisides was indicted for?

Armchair detectives need to know.

I'm wondering about moderators which are closing ongoing disscusions about the intransparent process of mining of Bitcoin?

Are you crazy??

Any comments?

EDIT: this one here --> https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/blockchaininfo-misreports-origins-wasswiss-university-jumps-into-mining-game-113654

EDIT2: I don't know where you came from but from where I came a constructive disput about facts should help all and clean out the people who have something to hide.
