Just wondering, why do people become vegan Is this because of health, ethics or something else?

Can't you just research this yourself using Google?
Some people do it for religious reasons, some people can't afford meat, some people are very empathetic towards other animals and some people simply have too many choices - that pretty much covers it.  Oh wait, it can also be trendy.

Some people like to create topics that they're interested in and start conversation.

Obviously ethics. They have some compassion for animals.

I dont understand that too

Yesterday I met a guy and he is now vegan. But before that he was non vegan and was eating all kind of meat.

I think religion played a big role in making him change this habit.

Well this is the season for Lent (in western Christianity) and Great Lent (in Eastern Orthodoxy) so a lot of people will be vegan for a period of time.

Yes, many of my faithful friends also observe the Great Lent. It does not surprise me, because in the territory where I live this is a common phenomenon.

Anyhow, most of you guys would experience the same benefits (better sleep, less fatiqued) if you would add up more vegetables in your diet. The vitamins make a huge difference.

I was a vegan for little over a year and during that time I've noticed I was less fatigued throughout the day and I slept like a new born baby.

It's not normal to sleep as long as a newborn baby.  Seems like you were fatigued.  Maybe you weren't getting enough nutrition?

Edit: found a chart and marked it up for you compliments of the National Sleep Foundation (wasn't sure exactly what category to put you in but the young adult and the adult require essentially the same amount of sleep - much less than a newborn)

I have a few friends who stopped eating meat and other animal products, and the reasons where different from person to person.

Most people who judge vegans do not know what exactly they are eating from day to day basis, from those shitty kebabs and other street food, KFC, diary and so on, everyone who invested their time in to researching food already saw the benefits of plant based diet (short term or long term, doesn't matter) and in the end everything is based on choice.

What I mean by that is, yes, you can lead a healthy life as a carnivor if you know what you're eating and if you're ignoring all the processed meat and other shit which is served to you by day to day basis. And yes, you can also lead a healthy life as a vegan, if you're following the rules and are taking care of your body properly.

I personally focus my diet 70% on plants, 20% on fish and around 10% on red lean meat. I try to ignore milk and other products connected to it since it's a fucked up industry.

If you eat only fruits and vegetables, then there will be no improvement in health due to a sedentary lifestyle. Each person has an individual organism. Who is good at eating meat, doing sports and sometimes smoking.

Veganism and smoking are not mutually exclusive. Not all vegans do so for health reasons.

Just wondering, why do people become vegan. Is this because of health, ethics or something else?

People become vegan for personal reasons. I have a friend who recently become a vegan and her reason is healthy lifestyle. It's not like that eating cooked meat is very unhealthy, she is just saying that being a vegetarian is much healthier for her. She also said that she had watch a video of how an uncooked meat is really dirty and it really grossed her out. This does not affect me because I have not watched the video and I have no plan of watching it anyway.   Smiley

My youngest daughter went vegetarian last year and went vegan a few months ago. Her reasoning is she is against all mistreatment of animals and it is her way of holding true to herself. She is the only vegan in the house and we gladly get her meals that allow her to maintain her own lifestyle without us imposing on her or her imposing on us.

I HATE VEGAN PEOPLE...NOT ALL OF THEM..BUT THOSE WHO HATE MY CHICKEN I HATE THEM...HAHAHAHAHAH
There are people with such views normal and adequate. But there are fanatical vegetarians who do not live by themselves and others do not allow it. Everyone chooses what they own, but why impose an opinion is grass.

It is not healthier to be vegan than to be on a paleo diet. It is just about not hurting animals.

On some vegetables, the body does not receive all vitamins and trace elements. This is more the influence of fashion or hypnotic propaganda. Everyone lives in this world in accordance with his vision of the situation.

Aside that they want to eat healthy foods they are kind to animals and dont want to see sufferings thats why they are sacrificing to eat vegetables until the time comes that they are loving it and will never go back to eat meat.
