BCNext was a long time member of this place, so the Feds must know who he is...
He also posted a "let's do Silk Road 2" thread here weeks before the Nxt ANN thread...
So NXT was really designed to host illicit markets... and this haunted BCNext until he disappeared.

Source?
This guy must be creazy, he have no idea what he talk about. He totally did,t know who is bcnext, just leave hime along Grin

Like many stories I see about BCNext, there is truth in them. He did disappear citing being contacted by law enforcement (we obviously can't know for sure) and said himself that he was a senior user of BTT.

I was just wondering if Zer0Sum knows of something I don't for the rest or if it's just conjecture.

They also have different programming styles. Satoshi was an old school C++ programmer. BCNext was a Java programmer who didn't follow standard programming conventions (i.e. he put the whole code in a single file with no comments and no of additional libraries). Qora's code was also written in Java but is comparatively well organized and commented.

I'm not sure if I buy the first two.

University/corporate educated engineers are all taught to develop for MAINTAINABILITY...
To develop clear, structured, modular code so THE NEXT GUY can easily maintain and expand the code.

You cannot graduate from university or hold down a corporate job...
Without developing HIGHLY maintainable code... it's really 90% of the ballgame.

Satoshi was not "old school", but self-taught and not a professional...
Because he wrote some of the most opaque and unmaintanable code ever produced...
Which has been a big drag on Bitcoin for 5 years to this day... as has been the C code base.

I'm sure BCNext code was of much better quality, regardless of what the core looked like...
But it was his original, confident design that was at genius level...
Which allowed other coders to easily take over and quickly add feature after feature to this day....
No platform has ever been developed faster and been more robust than NXT...
Which is a tribute to both BCNext and Java.

A lot of people in the NXT community think he is still around and working on stuff.

It's interesting that NXT hit 0.00003 or about $10 million on Dec 21, 2013...
And that's pretty much where it is today  Sad Sad Sad

People hardly care about NXT, you can forget entirely about Qora.

Didn't know about the big differences in coding style. One more proof. On the contrary to many, I don't believe they are the same person, but I wondered about the same behaviour.

BCNext was a big admirer of Satoshi and tried to emulate him:

I follow Satoshi's vision of the best currency.

Maybe you answered it before... but why the Anonymity? What can go wrong if you'll say who you are?

Maybe it's a superstition but I'm trying to follow in Satoshi's footsteps.

I know there were various of discussions about whether Satoshi Nakamoto, BCNext and Qora are the same person. There are also good proofs (text analysis, on-/offline profiles, etc) which states that they probably could not be the same person.

They also have different programming styles. Satoshi was an old school C++ programmer. Probably they didn't wanted to attract the attention of all the different regulatory bodies of nearly all the states around the world.

They don't want government or someone to go after them.
It would be suicide for Satoshi to reveal himself when he has so many bitcoins in his wallet.

They released a great unique tech and then disappeared.
What do you think, why do they want to stay unknown?

So FINCEN can't come after them.  POW + anonymous dev + no instamine, premine, ninjamine, everything transparent and honest is the way to go in crypto it seems.

There is still a chance to reveal the identity of BCNext and qora.

Just to let you know, Qora has recently revealed its identity intentionally. He is a programmer from Belgium. If you want to know who he is, look at the Github account of Qora. He switched the ownership to its personal account.

Of course they are not the same person.

They could be rich and famous (at least Satoshi and probably BCNext).

If you want a peaceful quiet life, you wouldn't want to be rich and famous (=> a lot of trouble).

I'm pretty sure enjoying your privacy and observing your own creation anonymously is the smarter decision -- much more fun too.

Check out Qora's github.

Could not find any hint on its github account. Can you point to the issue / thread there?

Did not know that he revealed its identity. So, there remains Satoshi, BCNext and cryptonote creator.

I don't know if I am allowed to say this, but Qora has revealed his identity  Grin

I confirm this.Few days ago I have found out that qora revealed his identity and immediately asked him if this was made intentionally or something else happened and he replied that it was made intentionally and we can now figure out who is he.
Check out Qora's github.

I mean they have created "products" that are worth billions alltogether. They could be rich and famous (at least Satoshi and probably BCNext).

What do you think, why do they want to stay unknown?

Well... why not? Staying unknown keeps a lot of trouble away, don't you think?
